[The day was saved and the Earth's been unsealed by the Ruina.  That was plenty of reason to celebrate.  But a good man had lost his life in all of that, and quite a few things had been spelled out for Josh that turned his perception of his dad full upside-down.]

Bian...

[Yeah, he's putting Bian up on the Memorial Wall.  He spent a short while onboard the Chalice as a passenger once after the fight at Adventus's headquarters, that would shut up anyone complaining that he didn't qualify.]

You might've been the leader of the DC, but you never hesitated to take the plunge and lead the charge yourself.  We'll do you proud.

Aaaaahahahahaha.  The flame thrower's not working properly!  Classic callback!

... Wait, callforward.  This is a prequel, after all.

[Josh is nomming on some popcorn and watching an old Hollywood film about some thing.  The prequel actually... which he seems to actually be enjoying for once.  What can I say?  He left Antarctica hating two things with a fiery passion that would rival MacReady's hatred of chess computers that cheated.  He's learned to make peace with one of them, and he didn't feel right without giving the other one another shot.]

You know...

Lordgenome talked about dimensional boundaries being weakened after those "people from the future", most likely Kairos Aspida, came through.  But we've already had to worry about stuff from different dimensions all the time in the past though and that was never a big concern.

But if this was like, the big one... then just what kind of anomalies are capable of happening now?  Are we going to meet like, a million other versions of ourselves or are we gonna wake up and suddenly the skies are green and the grass is blue?

Another day, another apocalypse averted. Man, I should stop having "free post-averting-end-of-the-world drink."

I still don't get the Custos' motivations though. Wanting to rule the world? That I understand. Ruling the world gives you certain privileges like freedom to appoint Tuesday as free ice cream day and having the best mattress in the planet. Even Baphomet have somewhat understandable motivation.

But wanting to unmake the world? I know they're not the only people who want that. Why do you ever want to destroy the world?

While we're at it, that makes me wonder. What other villanious aspirations have we faced?

Roads is not having a good day. Roads then sits down with his heads in his hands at the now-clear desk.

He stays still for quite some time. Occasionally, he will shift a bit, folding his hands in front of him like something is trying his patience, or he will glare at that ancient tome he's cast aside.

What... what was I supposed to do?

And you're sure the Sympathia System's got an emergency shutoff?

'Yessir.  Just as you instructed!'

Good.

[Mad's been working hard on the Lambda for the past few days, in fact it barely resembled the Zaku it used to be - now looking more like its own machine. It however looked like it had been opened up quite a bit in order to make further modifications - meaning there was no way it was going to be combat capable for now.]

[You can find the blonde looking through her notes, practically covered from top to bottom with notes, muttering about the numbers and looking just a teensy bit concerned. There was also Minovsky Reactor not too far away - one commonly used by Zakus... why did Mad remove it from the Lambda?]

[2]

[Additionally she was working on something else as well. Several parts were all over the place as she tinkered with what you can assume looked like a generator. But whatever it was it ran on clearly wasn't visible... or lethal for that matter. Additionally there were several carved panels close by her.]

[Anyone who passed by where the wreck of Ares Gear was would find it severely chopped up and missing massive amounts of parts. Clearly Mad's been taking 'recycling' lessons from Lowe and lessons on not wasting anything the Wolves very well.]

[3]

[Mad grunted as she got the last panel closed, wiping some sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand as she looked up at the Lambda. Finished.... it was finally finished. She let out a tired laugh and whooped before letting herself collapse on her rear.]

D-damn!  This is...

D-don't worry, I'm alrigh-

[But he stops.  Because things are not alright.  Not at all.]

Goddammit don't tell me that they've actually...!

[The Aile then suddenly blasts off in one direction at the blink of an eye, and with the head start it's going to take some time before anyone that was part of the group catches up to him.  And before that happens, you'll see what got him panicking in the first place: an absolutely devastated town.  Countless buildings are still on fire, as well as numerous piles of dead bodies.  Judging by just that, one might just think it was ordinary raiders... but the fire only claimed a portion of the town.  Another looks more like it was just carpet-bombed with heavy ordinance, and yet another seems more like everything and everyone in that general section was just torn to shreds.

[And the Aile just stands there, facing it all.]

... They did this.  The Ruina...

... And it was recent.

2.

[Saying Josh is Mr. Scowlyface when he returns to the Chalice is a bit of an understatement.  And when the Aile lands he's already just skulking off, fists clenched.]

Matthew should be happy. He has risen from the status of bondsman to become a Mechwarrior again, proven himself to his new clan in combat twice, and acquired many potent (well, zany) comrades and allies. His star is truly on the rise, even more so because the Gurren Brigade is a small group.

And yet, he finds himself troubled: by moral quandaries, elaborate philosophical dilemmas, the conflict between the traditions he came from and the urgings of his heart.

More immediately, though, he is troubled by his Nova, which is...wrecked. An arm blasted off, the armor is pitted and cored, and the gyro system half near pretty much melted.

He notices certain techs in the hangar bay glaring at him.

"Ah..."

[2]

Matthew has organized a discussion group in one of the lounges, for a very specific group of people: former Jade Falcon Clansmen taken as bondsmen. The topics on discussion are varied: how people are settling in, what interesting things have happened, gossip about the more infamous members of the Chalice...and culture shock, of course. The massive culture shock. And the shouting of attack names: what's with that?

There are refreshments of course. And booze. And cookies.

Matthew chats with a few fellow former Falconers. He really perks up, however, when Trothkin from his former Star show up.

[I figured this would be a good way to develop plot related to all the Clanner shenanigans, as well as explore characters both pc and npc. Anyone who has/is connected somehow to a bondsman, feel free to come over. And everyone else, too. There are cookies.]

[3]

Matthew walks down the hallway, whistling a merry tune.

Then he stumbles midstep, his eyes widening as he realizes the awful truth.

"I...I uttered a contraction in the midst of battle!" He cries out.

[She glances behind herself for a moment, then turns back.]

Yui was rather beat up after the last fight, what with Shemhazai's cockpit crushing in on her and all. And while she didn't make much fuss about it, she is hurt enough to be forced into a bed for a while, with a few shots of painkillers to go around as well.

One of the chairs next to her bed is manned round-the clock by Madeline, once she recieved her basic care. And while occasionally late into the night Mad may drift off into sleep, or get up to use the bathroom, she is there the vast majority of the time.

Those roses that Graf used now decorate a small vase next to Yui's bed.

(So yeah, Mad/Yui post! Responses may come from both characters. Specify if you want to wait for Mad to leave, though she may of course come back later. This'll probably be the first time most people hear of their relationship.)

The moment they'd docked, the pilot had been one of the first ones off the ship, one of the first to walk into the city - and one of the first to disappear from sight. For the past two nights, he hadn't returned to neither the Chalice nor the Ptolemios, preferring instead to spend his nights under the sky regardless of temperature and weather. It was more comfortable: That's what he told himself anyway, but it all came back to those two. One whom he considered a good friend after a fashion, if a strange and cold one. The other a gentle heart whom he had frightened off, yet somehow still had affection for. Both of them, gone: without them there, the atmosphere of the Chalice was suffocating.

Too many memories, fond ones and tough ones alike: He remembered the cryptic conversations he'd had with Devon. He remembered her times of weakness, few as they were. He remembered sharing a few moments of his own weakness with her. "Even Hallelujah seemed to like her - after she'd scared him half to death." Then there was the other one, the one he'd never really gotten a chance to know. Nonetheless, Laura haunted him as Devon did: always an uplifting spirit, always a sight to bring a smile. He'd barely knew her, yet the stains of pink were just as prevalent as those of black on his mind. "If only I'd gotten a chance to  know her better..." And the worst part, he hadn't even been there to watch them in their final work. He'd been miles away, brooding as he was wont to do.

And what did that get me? I never got to see their faces during their last action. I won't be able to properly honor their bravery... and I'll probably never see them again, so what use is it to wish forgiveness? I can't even find it in myself to grieve properly: Damn me, and damn everything I am. What use am I? A broken weapon, so lost in trying to justify my own existence that I let the people who don't need me to justify myself slip away and die.

It's with this mindset that a familiar passerby might find Allelujah, sitting under the shadow of a tree with an expression as dark and stormy as the gathering clouds. He doesn't seem to want company, but a few words might do him good.

[The voice is small, barely above a whisper. She's hoarse and exhausted from the battle.] Hello everyone. I am Doctor Oenone Zero, of the Green Storm ressurection corps. I want to give my most heartfelt thanks to everyone who just assisted me in the defense of the village of Seahaven and to the crew of this...landship for allowing me to stay here for a bit. I was cut off from any backup. If you hadn't shown up...I, I don't know what would've happened. That town woud have been demolished for materials to build Springwheeled even larger and its people made into slaves to work in the town's guts.

In case you've never seen one before, that was a Mobile City. Most of them survive by catching and "devouring" other mobile cities and static settlements. That was only a middling sized one, not one of the big urbivores, so if you hear of one in the area, be very careful.

My stalker squad is with me as well. Those are the five cyborg-creatures, each around eight feet tall. While they're fearsome in battle and they look rather scary, don't be scared of them. They can't move while they're switched off and even if they weren't, they need an operator to give them commands.

As a surgeon-mechanic of the ressurections corps, I am qualified to install, build and maintain any kind of prosthetic. If you should ever need that kind of help, please don't hesitate to contact me.

[Action:]

The woman who sent the distress signal is small and slight, with dyed green hair. She wears a worn uniform, with a green lightning bolt on one tricep and a grinning death's head with a cyborg eye on the other. You can find her one of several places on the chalice:

1: Right after the mission and transferring Wendell to someone who can help him, rather than merely stabilize his conditions, she stumbles out of her airship, exhausted, tears staining her cheeks. Battle doesn't agree with her, it seems. She'd thought she was dead several times over.

2: Reassuring her birds. Their feathers are mixed with the metallic and their gears whine and click when they move, but they hop and move like living birds and seem to respond to her attention, becoming visibly less agitated.

3: The next day, in the hangar bay, repairing her stalkers. Two of the mechanical men are badly smashed. Their innards show, a grotesque and Gigerian internal diorama of metal and long since mummified insides, commingled and connected. But as she connects one thing, screws something else back in, their eyes glow again, red like demons.

((OOC: We just defeated another pair of big bosses after a decently long route split so mingle post go. This is set pretty much right after both Jeremy and RGNK are defeated and everyone arrives back on the Chalice so go get more CR))

1. [There seems to be a large celebration after everyone was rescued successfully. The hangar seems to be buzzing with people coming back at different intervals. After being separated from each other for a good two weeks waiting to celebrate their victory didn't seem right.]

2. [Ichitaka on the other hand seemed depressed to say the least. After getting himself out of the crushed cockpit of the Rushbird he didn't go for medical attention even while blood continued to leak from his forehead. All he was doing was staring at the crushed Rushbird both eyes looking hollow and empty.]

[To say that Ichitaka wasn't taking things well was an understatement. Not only had Julia and Haruka been taken away but the traitor that he was looking for the entire time was one of the first that he divulged his suspicions to. Pile onto that Char's actions and it all amounted to bad times for him.]

1. [In the hangar Ichitaka is standing in front of Cheng's old machine just staring at it for a long time.]

Of all the people...

[The tone in his voice was one of sadness rather than anger.]

2. [The young bird seemed to be looking at the information on what happened during the last battle as well as the machines of each of the Adventus Generals. There seemed to be the profiles of several different machines matched up against all of them.]

Now just comes guessing what upgrades they have made to try to counter our counters....

[Mother fucker.  Rim gets captured and then the very next day the Chalice finally swings by the drop coordinates that Rim's new machine had been stowed away at.  And right now Josh is just looking at it, fists clenched tightly.]

... Adventus.

I'm going to kill every one of you who so much as touches her.

[Yeah.  Big brother instincts running at a billion times their normal capacity.]

It's like pulling teeth out there!

[Josh is back from a personal trip into the city of Arkham.  Partly to check it out, partly because opportunities like this don't come by very often.  And needless to say he's looked pretty miffed as he makes his way to the kitchen, hoping that there'd still be some of Rim's coffee leftover.]

The crap I had to go through to just get a goddamn courier to go to the South Pole!
