[Amuro is just... staring, up at the White Zeta, currently standing in the hangar and in need of some serious repair. He's clearly been working hard on trying to get it fixed as fast as possible, but he seems almost... dejected, by the work.]

Not good enough... Its just not good enough...

We need... to develop something.

[Amuro may have specifically called you to meet at some point in the hangar, knowing your expertise in machinery and/or experimental technologies. Or perhaps you heard a rumour, and came to see whats up.]

Something that might give us an extra edge the next time we fight the Inspectors... and anyone else threatening the Earth Sphere.

The Inspectors ran roughshod over us. That Wendolo is a piece of work from what I understand. Teleportation, Beam Absorb, it's not something you'd want to fight on a good day. An All-Range attack would be a good counter for his warping nonsense, but normal funnels and bits would just repair the damage done to him. If we can figure out a way to neutralize those two advantages...

Its more than just that. His machine... whatever it was, was tough on top of all that. And simply hitting from a distance wouldn't get around his ability to potentially dodge whatever one throws at him.

[Amuro presses the sides of his temples, sighing.]

There's also the question of whether or not that 'beam absorption' of his has a potential limit... The Zeta Gundam's beam rifle is powerful, but its not the strongest weapon around. But a full mega-particle gun would be just too unwieldly in a proper fight...

So what's needed then is a method to contain Wendolo, so he can't move even if he wanted to, and a weapon that could punch through even Beam Absorb...

[The wheels are turning.]

I Field. The key here is an I field, something that can be deployed remotely to contain a mech even Wendolo's size. That much Minovsky interference would fry most sensitive equipment, and whatever Wendolo's using to warp like he does would likely be useless for long or short-range teleporting under such heavy particle density.

And if we want something that could punch THROUGH that I field, you'd need to be able to compact a mega-particle cannon into maybe a... bazooka. [His eyes turn to the untouched Project Javelin.] If we send this to Anaheim, tell them to take it, make it smaller and stronger, you'd get a piece of equipment with enough puncturing power to ruin most Anti-beam shields.

Wait, wait, Kamille. Now you're thinking too quickly, and making too many assumptions. We have little clue how their suits even work, let alone if they would suffer the same issues ours can. And we can't just tell Anaheim 'smaller, stronger' and expect a result. We need to take our time and think things through.

[That said, he can get the desire to find a quick answer... with no idea of when the next attack might be, an answer would be better appreciated if it came sooner.]

Now, I'm admittedly a little out of touch on the subject... but what do you understand of funnel and bit technology?

Which, as a Clanner, he's not shedding tears over.

"To develop our collective technology base further would take time...but if we were to synthesize the various pieces of technology we have available and combine their best aspects into a single unit, we may have a machine that can match the Inspectors one-on-one..."

That would assume the very basic logic behind the differing systems is at all compatible. And given you guys are apparently from another universe...

[Amuro slumps down into a chair, trying to think.]

That said... has teleportation or energy weapon absorption ever been a problem in your wars?

He frowns for a moment. "It is actually quite fortuitous that both the Clans and the Earth Sphere share the same style of military combat."

The thing is, our enemy probably has a better understanding of physics - or rather, what they'll allow - than we do.

[Amuro stops for a minute, before wondering something.]

Oddly enough, it takes a wide variety of allows with a low weight to a high strength value to normally enable the creation of mobile suits. I take it you have similar back home?

During that attack by the invaders... no matter what I tried, I could hardly slow the enemy down. The only thing that worked was attacking the floor to make them fall through it. And then they showed they can just teleport anyway.

I tried. But beam weapons were absorbed, grenades weren't able to do any damage, and slowing it down proved useless once it showed it could teleport all along.

I tried and... I failed. There was nothing I could do to stop Wendolo.

He's a friend of Kamille's, so Doctor Zero agreed to meet him automatically. He's not the first war hero she's met, but she can't surpress a small surge of pride that the White Devil might need something from her, her own feelings towards the Federation notwithstanding. She looks up at him.

"Ah, before we continue, I should delineate the limits of my knowledge. As a Surgeon-Mechanic, my expertise is limited to the specialized field of machine interface with living and...dead tissue. So my apologies in advance for any questions I can't answer."

That's about as delicately as she can spell out what a Stalker is.

Any familiarity with psycommu systems?

"Theoretically they're not very different from the standard Stalker control rig we use, in reverse. The rig feeds sensory data from the Stalkers direct to the operator, while a psycommu system receives neural commands from the pilot. I might be able to help you more if I had access to one."

Sadly, I don't have one sitting in my pockets, but... its a start. I need to ask if you could... try to create a similar system, at least for the sake of developing a prototype unit. Need to give the enemy as little a chance as possible...

I can't blame Anaheim for cranking out multiple Zetas, but on the other hand they can only bring so much to the table.

The problem is that the Zeta was ahead of the bell curve by human standards, but it could hardly do a thing to Wendolo. Anything that tried to stop him hardly could.

... Though seriously... even HALO was an easier nut to crack than that thing.

The White Zeta wasn't a powerful enough suit to counter the enemy. But even as its pilot, I was barely able to find a way to slow Wendolo down... even then, thats probably because he was just messing with me.

We were caught by surprise. We had no way to plan and to top it off you were handicapped by low mobility because the fight was in the ship... and we didn't have anything on this Wendolo guy either.

I'm not arguing about getting better weapons and more training... but those things alone won't win a fight.

Fight dirty, use every advantage you can get, don't play by any rules they'd expect.

But most of all, hope you have a lot of luck.

Those were... extenuating circumstances. Under less... imbalanced situations, the GN-drive Gundams are rather amazing machines. That, I would account to a bad match up.
