[Since the battle with the Aurum and the Mugann, Josh has just been glaring down at the surface of the world.  Or rather, the big black placeholder image for where the world ought to have been.  Way to go, dad.  None of this would've ever happened if you had never bothered poking around some ancient Antarctic ruins.]

They certainly waited until they were sure they were going to have as opportune a moment as possible, didn't they?

You said it. The Ruina laid down in wait for so long, I almost forgot they were even a thing.

They probably had to. They've lost too many of their own, and we took out their production facility last February.

For beings with fairly generic goals, they at least knew to bide their time.

"Ha ha ha kill all Earthlings" might be generic, but it doesn't mean we can take 'em lightly. Especially now.

So... any idea how to break through?

Unfortunately, no. I'm not an expert on the Ruina or their machines... my father might've been, but then again he's to blame for this whole mess in the first place.

[Seriously. Fuck you dad. Fuck you to bits.]

... Ventus or Glacies might be able to give us a worthwhile answer though.

Then we need to find them right away! Just so you know, locating people and objects in space is one of my friends' specialty.

Sounds like a plan. Tell them to hit up any AEUG ships that came by to help with the defense, Ven and Lacie were with them last I've seen.

That's how we managed to stay afloat for so long.

"They outfoxed us, quiaff?" Matthew snarls grimly.

"What do you think they are doing down there?"

The things that are Ruina bread and butter: rape, pillage, plunder, and just spread as much misery as possible.

"And how many of them are there?"

Who knows? The Ruina as a whole are a lot of faceless... well, things. And besides the leader there's six we've met that have an actual face and identity. One's dead and two of the others are on our side.

The rest though... rotten to the core.

"Fah." Matthew says after a moment, looking to the side.

"If they can rot, then we can kill them." He concludes.

My sentiments exactly, Matthew. It was one thing with Ven and Glacies... he was deemed a failure by the others, and Glacies and I... well that was an isolated situation.

"So how did this 'Ven' and 'Glacies' come to fight on our side?" Matthew asks, curious.

And they're going to be regretting it soon enough, let me tell you that.

We just need... a way down to the surface.

And that's the whole problem.

I wonder will applying enough force in one point break the shield, or do we need to counter it with some kind of radiation... I'm not a specialist on force fields.
