Phase Twenty-One: Your Standard Fairy Tale Happy Ending

[The world has been saved, hopefully for the last time in a long time. The celebrations - and the mourning - have started, and in a lot of places are still continuing. But the victory isn't the only thing to celebrate - and with a lot of help, and a lot of favours, Laura and Lily have extended an invitation to the Chalice crew, past and present, to join them. If you were nearby, chances are the invitation was hand-delivered by a dutiful Servbot.]

1. The setup
[With the looming deadline of the closing portals, things move quickly! Invitations are sent, travel is arranged, a venue is prepared. What had been the White Chalice's Arboretum - now an open-air grove in what's set to become a lush forest - is the site of the ceremony itself, while the celebrations afterwards will take place in Gucun. There's a lot to be done to make ready. Are you helping, or seeking out one of the brides beforehand?]

2. The ceremony
[It's only fitting that Captain Smith should officiate. He's waiting at an arch set up by the flowerbeds of the Arboretum, where the happy couple met, where Laura's tended her memorial to her friends from before the Chalice and to those who've passed on since. Between the Kwan daughters, Epimetheus, and a brace of Servbots you shouldn't have any trouble finding your seat, even if Xue Yi is a little preoccupied ensuring Prometheus behaves. There's some time before the wedding party arrive, to talk amongst yourselves - or with some of the other guests present, who include Laura's overwhelmed-looking parents!]

3. The reception
[Of course, the real point of a wedding is the party afterwards! There's food, drink, and music - Miki pulled some strings, and Pit's showing how Skyworld does catering. After the recent battle, perhaps this is a chance to see some long-absent faces in more peaceful circumstances, or to say goodbye. Or are you just here for the embarrassing speeches?]

[This is a joint mingle post, open to dropped and retired characters as well! For all prompts, please specify whether it's Laura/Lily you want to talk reply, or others!]

All In

Recently, you may have heard increased frequency in news or reports on the skirmishes in Siberia between the Wolves and the Jade Falcon. The clanners onboard have been restless, even if many of them had been rotating back to Wolf City for periods of time. Ranna will send a vid-message to those onboard.

"We believe that the Falcons cannot maintain this level of intensity without escalating soon. The Clan is consolidating our Touman in Wolf City in preparation for that escalation. My Trinary has been recalled as well, for the duration of this conflict - the 4th Wolf Guards are expeceted to be in the thick of things. However, with the Verfolger, I am still able to join the Chalice on deployments if necessary."

This time, when the typical Clan Wolf dropship arrives for its scheduled supply drop-off, it did not come alone - escorting it are ten aerospace fighters. Furthermore, all the clanners are loading their mechs on the dropship, and even some of the Wolf Technicians are boarding it.

Ranna is there overseeing the transfer, disturb/talk to her?

First Riot

[Clear the deck - on an unoccupied part of the Chalice's hangar, a magic circle appears with a ringing, ticking sound. It remains just long enough to let anyone in the area get out of its radius, then vanishes quietly - and in its place is a figure in a white cloak, one who might look familiar, and yet not, to some of the crew. She looks around briefly before summoning a screen in the air before her, connecting to the ship's network.]

Everyone - I am Agent Fate Testarossa Harlaown, representing the Time-Space Administration Bureau. I'm here to lend assistance and support Captain Takamachi. I hope together we can overcome the troubles this planet faces.

And to those I've met before, I'm glad to be back.

Farewell

[1]
Everyone... I remember everything. It's over. We've won.

[Post-mission, Pilhua is destroyed. But so is the Over Being Father. And now there is a blue-ish aura around Texotic. Like a flame, tiny and barely visible at first but growing in time.]

There is something you need to know.
During their "games", Over Being met resistance. Rarely did their play go as smoothly as they hoped for. Their supposed prey fought - fought hard, tooth and nail. As we did just now.
The universe is full of humanity's brethren. Of heroes.

The threat of Over Being is over. What Teootl said is true. Just as Conetzin and Pilhua are creations of Over Being and cannot exist without them, so can Over Being not exist without Teootl.

This includes me. In a few hours, I too will be... gone...

Please do not cry for me. I...

[And she almost did it. Almost said it with composure and a calm face.

But no. Tears start to well in Texotic's eyes as she cries out.]

I will miss you all so much! I... I really wanted to stay with you for longer!

Gratitude

[Do you have CR with Texotic? Then she is going to hesitantly approach you, holding a bag full of gifts. Not a Santa-like bag, just a bag. Also her clothes and looks in general are different than before now.]

You give presents during Christmass, don't you? Take this.

... And thank you. For everything.

[All tsundere-like, she hands you a gift! What could it be?]

(Don't worry about describing the gift you receive, that's my part.)

A Very Kairos Aspida Christmas - holy crap such a long post

[Finally, White Chalice arrived in Orb. We will be here for a while, so make yourselves comfortable! Fortunately the oceanic country is a peaceful and prosperous one, so you can spend this time in comfort. Not to mention the high class hotel that was booked specifically for us to reside in - covering a lot of ground, with many facilities and easy access to nearby malls, what luxury! There's a giant Christmas tree in the lobby to put everyone in festive mood, and even though the climate is not exactly what you'd call winter-like, Orb mobile suits are flying around the place and showering it with snow a few times every day. Talk about dedication. Or wastefulness.]

[1 - general Christmas thread, mingling encouraged]

[The Christmas party will be a large and opulent one, with delicious food and plenty of important-looking people in fine clothing. Feel free to join in - or experience the holiday on your own pace, especially since there is so many things to do! The whole shebang will last for more than just the Christmas days, so feel free to spread responses around time-wise rather than making everything happen at once.

Enjoy the festivities! Also Kairos Aspida is there, so if you want to talk to particular people, see below.]

[Scattered through the very same mall were the Crew - both pilots and members of the ship itself - of the Bastion of Insolence (Plus one - the Captain of the Brachos Class Cruiser which had been present on the ambush). Whether you encounter them eating, shopping or just otherwise messing around at an arcade or skating rink or something. You'll bump into them. Despite being clad in full uniform they're acting like ordinary people rather being ruthless or cold or cruel or vicious. They interacted with each other with the warmth and ease of camaraderie and friendship - light shoves, noogies, jokes and boasts with grins all around - or in one case just looking grumpily out of place as everyone's all cheery around them.]

Phase Seventeen: Looks Like The Honeymoon's Over

[There's a familiar ship back in the hangar, arrived quietly and without fanfare - under the circumstances, it's not good to draw attention to advanced alien technology. And on the comms, one of the passengers -]

Hello, everyone. We're back. With some good news, which I should probably let Lily deliver.

But whatever about our news, I imagine a lot must have happened here while we were away. I'm relieved to see the planet's still in one piece, to be honest...

What have we missed?

[If you're quick on the draw, you might intercept Laura while she's still in the hangar, but the likeliest place to find her is in the mess - she's wasted no time in brewing some tea and getting a taste of home. The look on her face is somewhere between bliss and the verge of tears. It looks like Cosmic Ark had an effect on her, too, as she's still wearing what looks like an Angel Force-style outfit - though without the bulky metal armour, except for a small headpiece.]

(no subject)

Well. That's the end of that, I suppose.

For those who weren't present, I am no longer in line for the throne of Ruba. Really, when it comes down to it, the nation will be in much better hands with Magdalena than me. And don't worry, Isaac, I made sure that she'll take care of your family in my place.

I feel... relieved, I suppose. I don't have to worry about the succession contest anymore. I can just do what I want to do for once in my life. And, well, as it so happens, that's staying here with all of you.

That's not a problem, is it? I'll basically be doing what I was before, but instead of helping out as some sort of advance payment for future political gain, I'd just be doing it because it's the right thing to do.

Helping

[1]
[After all the shit we've been through recently, White Chalice needs to resupply. This includes personalized requests from the crew. Look, a mechanic wearing coveralls and a bandana on her head is approaching you to talk right now.]

There is a human settlement down below. Do you need anything from it?

[Hey, it's actually Texotic. She carries a tablet to serve as shopping list, the kind that comes with big friendly icons and can record voice messages and play them back at you. She learnt how to use this at least.]

[2]
[On the surface.]

Where do I go first...?
This is going to be complicated...

[Ahem. This is not exactly rocket science, the market is RIGHT THERE.]

And Good Will Towards Men

[After being nailed to a tree in several places and having her wrists, throat, and ankles cut up with razor wire, Yui's been confined to the sickbay. That said, the injuries have been healing incredibly fast-despite having five or so arteries shredded, including her jugular, Yui's expected to be good to go in a day or so.

So she's lying down on a bed, bandages wrapped around her right shoulder, left forearm, and neck. And for the sole person who has tried to betray the White Chalice to Kairos Aspada, things are...calm.]

After the Ashes

1)

After two sorties in two days, Ranna still seems rather serene as she parks in the hangar and climbs out of her Verfolger, shaking her hair as she takes off her neuro-helmet with one hand, a laser rifle in her other hand.

"The Word of Blake and this insane lady. Both ends of the technological spectrum, yet both fanatic crazy zealots,"  she murmurs even as Alexia Ward, one of her Trinary's Star Commander comes up to her to hand her a data-chip of sorts.

Feel free to talk to her though, it seems she is in no rush to read that as she stay in the hangar, checking out on repairs and the rest of her unit.

2)

Later that day, Ranna will be sending out a message to everyone onboard.

"I have an announcement to make - due to casualties suffered from the operation against Word of Blake, I have been promoted to Star Colonel, and will be commanding the 4th Wolf Guards Assault Cluster. As such, Trinary Charlie will now be Command Trinary. However, I shall still be staying onboard the Chalice as liason along with my Trinary."

"I look forward to our continued cooperation."

A smile.

Happily Ever After

[Another disaster averted and another day saved. Yui was resting after getting patched up after dealing with being tied to a tree with barbed wire and being bled for a nightmarish eldritch apocalypse machine designed to kill everyone except for herself - in addition, that shard with its equally unearthly power had been jammed into her. Mad waited outside the infirmary, but looked more at peace than she ever had before... a sense of knowing her place in the world, of finally reaching her dream of heroism. She didn't need everyone to recognize her and admire her... rather... just the people she cared about.]

Dad.... Gregory... I finally did it... I'm a real hero now...

[She took a deep breath and let out a happy, satisfied sigh as she pondered on the future while lying down in the arboretum.]

One - Infirmary

[ Caulder's awake, though he's still somewhat sleepy from the anesthetic from surgery. One of his eyes is covered by a bandage. There's a few minor cuts and burn marks on his face, but nothing that will be permanent. Maxine saw to that. He's trying to play a handheld game on his tablet to keep his mind off of what happened. There's... there's just no way ALICE would flip out like that. It had to have been Pandora. It had to have messed with her programming. ]

I can't do it.

[ He said quietly, setting side his tablet. ]

I can't. She was my only friend growing up... I won't do it until I know for sure there's no way to fix her.

Two - Brig

[ It's the first day Caulder feels well enough to get out of bed. He hasn't been eating much, but it wasn't due to the durgs; it was depression and stress. He's heading for ALICE's cell. They've partitioned her and her mobile server is disconnected from the ship, but... he's worried. ALICE is smart. He has this feeling that she's still got a few tricks up her sleeve.

You can stop him before he reaches it... but when he does, he has a few things he just has to ask ALICE. ]

Cognitive Dissonance

[Following events on the mission where she went pretty much completely insane on everyone, Alice has been locked up as tight as an AI can get. Her little box mainframe is kept on a table in a locked room, and the only network link available goes to a single terminal outside the room, that's disconnected from all others. If you want to talk with her that means the only opportunity is to either pick the lock somehow and break in to see her (bad idea) or just walk past the exterior terminal.]

Well.

That happened.

14: Fidelis Vel Amor: a Clanner has a long, booze-filled think...

[1]

[Pandora's Box]

After the encounter with Wayne Waco and his mercenary company in Seattle, and the whole 'Alice gone crazy' disaster, Matthew can be found, slightly in that most classic of haunts for tormented souls–

–The Gentleman's Defensive Theology Club Lodge. Leaning against the swollen (thankfully unbroken) head of one of Herb's idols Matthew is swallowing a measuring beaker's worth of a truly noxious cocktail, while staring at a worn Jade Falcon patch in his other hand.

"What now?" You can hear him mumbling to himself. "What the stravag now?"

[2]

Later on, a more determined, if still gently swaying Matthew can be found wandering the halls of the White Chalice, up and down it's many levels, hangers, bridges, lounges, and greenhouses. To anyone he runs into, he takes care not to slur his words and asks:

"What do you think love is?"

Twentyfourth Rave

1.

[The day was saved and the Earth's been unsealed by the Ruina.  That was plenty of reason to celebrate.  But a good man had lost his life in all of that, and quite a few things had been spelled out for Josh that turned his perception of his dad full upside-down.]

Bian...

[Yeah, he's putting Bian up on the Memorial Wall.  He spent a short while onboard the Chalice as a passenger once after the fight at Adventus's headquarters, that would shut up anyone complaining that he didn't qualify.]

You might've been the leader of the DC, but you never hesitated to take the plunge and lead the charge yourself.  We'll do you proud.

2.

[A short while later though..]

Oh crap.  How're you going to get out of this one?  Use the-

Aaaaahahahahaha.  The flame thrower's not working properly!  Classic callback!

... Wait, callforward.  This is a prequel, after all.

[Josh is nomming on some popcorn and watching an old Hollywood film about some thing.  The prequel actually... which he seems to actually be enjoying for once.  What can I say?  He left Antarctica hating two things with a fiery passion that would rival MacReady's hatred of chess computers that cheated.  He's learned to make peace with one of them, and he didn't feel right without giving the other one another shot.]

Throw the gauntlet

[Recently, Alessandra commandeered the help of several mechanics and other crew members who probably thought she has official White Chalice business with them and are a bit cross right now. But forget that, because her efforts are finally crowned with this project!

A small portion of the open deck has pennants and banners heroically flapping in the wind, declaring the area to be a SCIENCE CONTEST. There are heaps of metal junk lying around, as well as mounds of sand, chopped wood arranged in surprisingly neat piles, and even science-y books and basic chemical apparati. What is the meaning of this?]

Listen to my words, oh people of White Chalice. Today, we shall participate in a mind-twisting competition to keep our intellects keen and sharp!

Using objects on hand present here, create a scientific contraption of any kind. Such is your objective!

[She's hoping for a certain doctor to participate in particular.]

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayl

[Today, if you're looking for Yui, you'll slowly find that she's...gone. Not in the library, not in the cafeteria, not brooding on the observation decks or the outside of the ship-she's just gone.

Her room has been torn apart, her furniture destroyed-with an obviously offending crowbar lying on the wrecked bed.

The table in the center of the room has ben left untouched, and has on it a small notecard, with writing in Yui's hand. It reads as follows.]

Going to join Kairos Aspada. Don't follow me.

Madeline-I'll miss you.
Signed, Yui Sendou.

[The Shard recovered from her mother-it's gone missing, as well. Investigate? Discuss it amongst yourselves?]

Hunter's Day At Work

1 (Backdated a bit to a few days ago)

2

Meanwhile )

And back to base )

After Operation Shatter Mountain

Okay, so I must confess that I have been... omitting certain details of the truth up until now. Let's go ahead and set the record straight, yes?

I am indeed the prince of Ruba, and I am indeed in competition for the throne. Every promise I've made for our aid, I fully intend to uphold.

The thing is... Ruba isn't particularly big. Okay, it's tiny. It's the smallest independent space colony in the Earth Sphere. So, at present, there isn't a great deal to give.

However!

Once I am king, I will be devoting 100% of my time, energy, and passion towards expanding the nation in population, resources, and renown. I had already begun this process before we met - my mission away from home is to acquire alliances, contacts, and resources for Ruba.

The very moment it is in my power to do so, I shall repay all debts my people owe. Until then, I would be honored if you would permit me to continue fighting alongside you in the name of a peaceful future for our world.

It is as he said! As Prince Leopold's formally-sworn knight and battle comrade, I shall devote myself to the protection of Ruba and the Earth Sphere, such that both may someday have the chance to propser in peace! Here, I shall act as a sword, willing to lay down my life in defense of the greatest or least among us!
