Also after Black History

So...

I can't help but suspect there were better ways I could have handled that wish.

At least we won't have any more invulnerable villains, though.

Twentyfourth Rave

1.

[The day was saved and the Earth's been unsealed by the Ruina.  That was plenty of reason to celebrate.  But a good man had lost his life in all of that, and quite a few things had been spelled out for Josh that turned his perception of his dad full upside-down.]

Bian...

[Yeah, he's putting Bian up on the Memorial Wall.  He spent a short while onboard the Chalice as a passenger once after the fight at Adventus's headquarters, that would shut up anyone complaining that he didn't qualify.]

You might've been the leader of the DC, but you never hesitated to take the plunge and lead the charge yourself.  We'll do you proud.

2.

[A short while later though..]

Oh crap.  How're you going to get out of this one?  Use the-

Aaaaahahahahaha.  The flame thrower's not working properly!  Classic callback!

... Wait, callforward.  This is a prequel, after all.

[Josh is nomming on some popcorn and watching an old Hollywood film about some thing.  The prequel actually... which he seems to actually be enjoying for once.  What can I say?  He left Antarctica hating two things with a fiery passion that would rival MacReady's hatred of chess computers that cheated.  He's learned to make peace with one of them, and he didn't feel right without giving the other one another shot.]

Twentythird Rave

[Since the battle with the Aurum and the Mugann, Josh has just been glaring down at the surface of the world.  Or rather, the big black placeholder image for where the world ought to have been.  Way to go, dad.  None of this would've ever happened if you had never bothered poking around some ancient Antarctic ruins.]

They certainly waited until they were sure they were going to have as opportune a moment as possible, didn't they?

Twentysecond Rave

You know...

Lordgenome talked about dimensional boundaries being weakened after those "people from the future", most likely Kairos Aspida, came through.  But we've already had to worry about stuff from different dimensions all the time in the past though and that was never a big concern.

But if this was like, the big one... then just what kind of anomalies are capable of happening now?  Are we going to meet like, a million other versions of ourselves or are we gonna wake up and suddenly the skies are green and the grass is blue?

Twentyfirst Rave

[And you know what?  After the bullshit at Side-1 between the A-LAWS and Neo Zeon, Josh is looking almost as angry as he is when faced with bullshit regarding his father.]

After all this time and they finally show their hand.  Please, remind me here... I know for a while we had common interests but Char certainly shat the bed more than any of us would've liked.  So...

What good has Zeon ever done for the Earth Sphere?

Twentieth Rave (Happy Father's Day, Josh!)

[Father's Day.  Not a very good day for Josh to say the least.  And to throw fuel on the fire he's been looking through some of his father's old journals-]

The bastard.

[-And frequently tearing out entire pages and throwing them into the garbage if there was nothing of value on them and were full of douchebaggery.  For hours now he's been doing this, trying to find something very, very important... something he hoped would actually be worth wading through so much bullshit and emotionless droning on about studying Rim and how great the piloting data he'd gotten from Josh.  Stuff about the Aile and Blanche... stuff about the Ganador and Strega... and then the Weapons Boxes... and then-]

... Forte Gigas.  Never heard of that machine before.

[Well now.  He was finally getting somewhere.]

A Nu Project...

[1]

[Amuro is just... staring, up at the White Zeta, currently standing in the hangar and in need of some serious repair. He's clearly been working hard on trying to get it fixed as fast as possible, but he seems almost... dejected, by the work.]

Not good enough... Its just not good enough...

[Ask him what's up?]

[2]

We need... to develop something.

[Amuro may have specifically called you to meet at some point in the hangar, knowing your expertise in machinery and/or experimental technologies. Or perhaps you heard a rumour, and came to see whats up.]

Something that might give us an extra edge the next time we fight the Inspectors... and anyone else threatening the Earth Sphere.
gamenojikan: (What is it you cretin)

Orphans and inheritance

1-[Yui's resting and recovering from that last mission, watching where the Shard of God, or whatever you want to call it, is being stored.]

Well...she's dead now. By my hand. But in self defence, not murder.

I could have killed her earlier. We were in town for a few days, she's just a normal person, I have a giant death robot...

And I stayed at that dinner even though I knew she had nothing left for me...

Why?

[More to come with time/me being less lazy.]

Seventh Escape

[1]

[Something hilarious to note is that Patrick had a slight hair problem. What is it you ask? An electricity generated Afro, much like everyone else who went to help Alessandra had gained. His still hasn't went down yet despite his best efforts.]

Oh come on... there's got to be something I didn't try yet.

[He glares venomously into a reflective surface at the offending hairstyle. How on earth was he going to get back onto the romance train like this?]

[2]

[Despite his hair situation he's gone on to visit the hangar. As to why...]

Well hello there, you doing alright big guy?

[He's visiting the Delta, looking all proud of the Golden Gundam, going so far as to pat it on the leg with glee. Oh yes, things went well for him. VERY well!]

[Anyone want to point out his past history and warn him about the possibility of the other shoe dropping?]

Others may remember it as the day the apocalypse was averted, but we remember it as Thursday.

*Herb and Epimetheus are serving drinks as usual in the bar.*

Another day, another apocalypse averted. Man, I should stop having "free post-averting-end-of-the-world drink."

I still don't get the Custos' motivations though. Wanting to rule the world? That I understand. Ruling the world gives you certain privileges like freedom to appoint Tuesday as free ice cream day and having the best mattress in the planet. Even Baphomet have somewhat understandable motivation.

But wanting to unmake the world? I know they're not the only people who want that. Why do you ever want to destroy the world?

While we're at it, that makes me wonder. What other villanious aspirations have we faced?

The Valley of The Shadow of Death

"FUCK!"

Roads is not having a good day. When he returns, the first thing he does is throw absolutely everything off of his desk, sweeping it to the side. Stacks of papers, pencils, drawings, Kouzou's gift, and his computer all get thrown to the floor. Roads then sits down with his heads in his hands at the now-clear desk.

He stays still for quite some time. Occasionally, he will shift a bit, folding his hands in front of him like something is trying his patience, or he will glare at that ancient tome he's cast aside.

"...Fuck."

The second curse is quiet and subdued.

Operation Two

1) [Hangar]

[Hey, remember that Britannian Special Ops team that you worked with during the hostage situation? They're coming aboard now. From the looks of things they might be here to stay awhile given the amount of gear they're bringing along.]

Hey, any room we can put this stuff? Last thing we need to do is put our gear in someone's parking spot and get it all run over.

2) [Mess Hall] (Introductions)

Nineteenth Rave

[Technically the mission to the Ruina factory was a success, but only in the sense that the damn thing had blown sky high by the end of it.  In regards to everything else it was a lot more ambiguous.  Between everything with Rim and Glacies, to say nothing of what happened with Vlaska outside of the place...]

What... what was I supposed to do?

Rim... I couldn't just... kill her.  Not when I realized that...

[Since bringing her back to the infirmary, Josh has not left Rim's side.  And try as he might, he hasn't been able to sense the emotions of either Chris or Liana... or anyone else for that matter.]

... Why couldn't there have been a better solution, Chris?

Eighteenth Rave (with backlogging)

[So.  A chance to go after the Ruina's production factories... near Festum territory at that.  It wasn't the most ideal thing in the world for dealing with the Ruina, but with their army on the move it was probably their only shot at crippling their operations.  And Josh is gearing up plenty as you can see an absolutely MASSIVE add-on to the Aile, enough that the robot just went from one of the smaller machines in the hangar to one of the biggest.]

And you're sure the Sympathia System's got an emergency shutoff?

'Yessir.  Just as you instructed!'

Good.

[Last thing Josh needed was to synch minds with any of the Ruina again.]

Alright then.   Sounds like we've got our bases covered.  Now it's just going to come down to tearing that factory to the ground... and killing anyone in it while we're at it.

aesopwarped: (What do you want?)

Forward and Onward

[1]

[Mad's been working hard on the Lambda for the past few days, in fact it barely resembled the Zaku it used to be - now looking more like its own machine. It however looked like it had been opened up quite a bit in order to make further modifications - meaning there was no way it was going to be combat capable for now.]

[You can find the blonde looking through her notes, practically covered from top to bottom with notes, muttering about the numbers and looking just a teensy bit concerned. There was also Minovsky Reactor not too far away - one commonly used by Zakus... why did Mad remove it from the Lambda?]

[2]

[Additionally she was working on something else as well. Several parts were all over the place as she tinkered with what you can assume looked like a generator. But whatever it was it ran on clearly wasn't visible... or lethal for that matter. Additionally there were several carved panels close by her.]

[Anyone who passed by where the wreck of Ares Gear was would find it severely chopped up and missing massive amounts of parts. Clearly Mad's been taking 'recycling' lessons from Lowe and lessons on not wasting anything the Wolves very well.]

[3]

[Mad grunted as she got the last panel closed, wiping some sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand as she looked up at the Lambda. Finished.... it was finally finished. She let out a tired laugh and whooped before letting herself collapse on her rear.]

You and me buddy.... we're gonna go places. You. Me. Maria and dad. Yui too.

[Drop by to say a few words to Mad about her machine?]

Seventeenth Rave

1.

[Patrolling, whee.  For the Aile it's an easy enough task, since the thing was originally just meant for recon purposes.  But just as it's almost time for the group to head back to the Chalice, Josh suddenly lets out a grunt of pain.]

D-damn!  This is...

D-don't worry, I'm alrigh-

[But he stops.  Because things are not alright.  Not at all.]

Goddammit don't tell me that they've actually...!

[The Aile then suddenly blasts off in one direction at the blink of an eye, and with the head start it's going to take some time before anyone that was part of the group catches up to him.  And before that happens, you'll see what got him panicking in the first place: an absolutely devastated town.  Countless buildings are still on fire, as well as numerous piles of dead bodies.  Judging by just that, one might just think it was ordinary raiders... but the fire only claimed a portion of the town.  Another looks more like it was just carpet-bombed with heavy ordinance, and yet another seems more like everything and everyone in that general section was just torn to shreds.

[And the Aile just stands there, facing it all.]

... They did this.  The Ruina...

... And it was recent.

2.

[Saying Josh is Mr. Scowlyface when he returns to the Chalice is a bit of an understatement.  And when the Aile lands he's already just skulking off, fists clenched.]

Those...

... Fucking...

Bastards!

[He could feel it.  Just leeching off residual feelings was one thing.  He had honestly felt them... and for that matter he could feel the pain and terror of all of those people they slaughtered.  And they got off to that bullshit?!?]

Remind me the next time we can catch the ear of anyone in Bian's alliance.  Because I don't think the Feds or Britannia are going to do jack shit to deal with the Ruina if they stay in North America.

01: To Grow and Learn, As a Bondsman Becomes a Brigadier

[1]

Matthew should be happy. He has risen from the status of bondsman to become a Mechwarrior again, proven himself to his new clan in combat twice, and acquired many potent (well, zany) comrades and allies. His star is truly on the rise, even more so because the Gurren Brigade is a small group.

And yet, he finds himself troubled: by moral quandaries, elaborate philosophical dilemmas, the conflict between the traditions he came from and the urgings of his heart.

More immediately, though, he is troubled by his Nova, which is...wrecked. An arm blasted off, the armor is pitted and cored, and the gyro system half near pretty much melted.

He notices certain techs in the hangar bay glaring at him.

"Ah..."

[2]

Matthew has organized a discussion group in one of the lounges, for a very specific group of people: former Jade Falcon Clansmen taken as bondsmen. The topics on discussion are varied: how people are settling in, what interesting things have happened, gossip about the more infamous members of the Chalice...and culture shock, of course. The massive culture shock. And the shouting of attack names: what's with that?

There are refreshments of course. And booze. And cookies.

Matthew chats with a few fellow former Falconers. He really perks up, however, when Trothkin from his former Star show up.

[I figured this would be a good way to develop plot related to all the Clanner shenanigans, as well as explore characters both pc and npc. Anyone who has/is connected somehow to a bondsman, feel free to come over. And everyone else, too. There are cookies.]

[3]

Matthew walks down the hallway, whistling a merry tune.

Then he stumbles midstep, his eyes widening as he realizes the awful truth.

"I...I uttered a contraction in the midst of battle!" He cries out.
gamenojikan: (Let's duel)

I am the best at consistent tone

[Oh hey, there's a video message waiting for everyone.]

…Alright, alright, I'm doing it. Ahem.

So, everyone…We might end up near Fuso soon, and when that happens I'm going to want to stop by my mother's house and pick up some things. It might be a day or so out of our way, probably nothing too extreme…the thing is, my mother and I have had a bit of a…falling out, so she might try to kill me when that happens.

[She glances behind herself for a moment, then turns back.]

…and, even if it doesn't come to that, she'll probably say I'm the spawn of satan or something. So don't believe that.

[The transmission cuts out. Later, you can find Yui at her usual hangouts, reading.]

gamenojikan: (Neutral)

Bloody Rose

Yui was rather beat up after the last fight, what with Shemhazai's cockpit crushing in on her and all. And while she didn't make much fuss about it, she is hurt enough to be forced into a bed for a while, with a few shots of painkillers to go around as well.

One of the chairs next to her bed is manned round-the clock by Madeline, once she recieved her basic care. And while occasionally late into the night Mad may drift off into sleep, or get up to use the bathroom, she is there the vast majority of the time.

Those roses that Graf used now decorate a small vase next to Yui's bed.

(So yeah, Mad/Yui post! Responses may come from both characters. Specify if you want to wait for Mad to leave, though she may of course come back later. This'll probably be the first time most people hear of their relationship.)

Sixteenth Rave

[Josh has quite a bit on his mind when the Blanche returns to the Chalice.  The name of the devils from the South Pole was "the Ruina"... probably no relationship to the Ruin at all.]

Aquila... all that talk of honor and the Ruina's motives are still about as generic as you can expect.  And of course, in the world we live in there's gonna be no shortage of "negative emotions" for them to draw power from.

... Least I found a little newfound respect for the Blanche.
