Who knows how long she goes before she burns away.

1] (post Resnick's death)
At the base of the wreck that had been the Prowler, Resnick's Timber Wolf, several empty bottles of vodka rolled about, beside several full ones and puddle of the noxious smelling liquor beside them. In the open cockpit, Adette had slumped down behind the useless controls, a bottle between her lips like a hungry infant. Every now and then she dumped a bit out on the ground, and cried again, completely uncaring of whom might be around. She had no shame in her mourning, and thought is was often quiet inside the cockpit now and then great painful cries would rise out of the timber wolf.
"You asshole. You fucking prices of shit. You weren't supposed to leave like this..."

 photo adette22-1-1.jpg
2] (later that night)
Drunk beyond belief, Adette managed to slip out of the cockpit and onto the cold hanger floor only by discarding her heels all together. She stumbled from mecha to mecha across the hanger, leaning on whatever she could to keep herself up right. Her hair was a mess, and her face tried and red, the world spun around her, but she refused to be felled by it.

It all just seems like sceince fiction to me.

1] Adette was looking at a glass of water, her chin on the table, and the rest of her slumped in the chair. She sighed and blew her bangs out of her face with a defeated sound.
Life was so much abrasive with out the haze of intoxication, every sound seemed louder than before, but not startling. It was almost strange to have a clear head, and un-addled perceptions. And yet all the same, it was like missing your best friend.
"This sucks!"

Trial of Bloodname

Following the grand melee, the Trial of Bloodname begins over a period of several weeks. Khan Phelan Kell has continued to provide free transportation for those onboard the Chalice for those who would like to pop by time to time or to view specific matches.

(1)
Ranna is in the observation room, watching another sort of ritual going on. Two of the warriors are in a room with a bowl like implement, and they both input a coin at opposite end at the top - the mechanism is released, as both coins spin downwards towards the bottom, which is coin-sized.

One coin lands on top of another, and the warrior whose coin is at the top announced "I choose for us to fight in our mechs" and the other said in response "Our location shall be in the outskirts of the city at the north-eastern clearing".

As the next few pairings occur, it seems that not only mechwarriors are involved - Elementals and aerospace pilots too, going by the type of combat that was chosen.

(2)
For a day or two each week for the next few weeks, the observation room would be open for viewing of individual matches. It seems the nominees are given some time to prepare themselves after terms have been dictated in the 'ritual'.

Ranna will be on the Chalice between each of her own match, standing-by for any sorties as usual. But you may find her in the gym or in the simulators practicing more than what was typical of her before.

Disturb/join in?

(3)
Ranna's matches through the Trial has been rather eventful. Then again, those who watch 'live' or recorded replays of all the matches will notice that they have all been eventful - it seems that all those nominated for the Kerensky bloodname were there for very good reasons. Not only were many of them good warriors in their chosen vehicles, they were excellent strategists as well.

Her own highlight is a second round match against an Aerospace pilot, him in his fighter and her in a mech. She had chosen a custom configuration with 4 lasers, and sheared off one wing of his fighter in a single pass - no fault of his, for he had attempted to juke around on his approach. Unfortunately, lasers travel at the speed of light, and she is an accurate shot.

Her final match is slightly different, as those from the White Chalice are invited to the site of battle itself, sitting behind a transparent screen a 'safe' distance away, with supplementary holo-displays. They are not the only one though, as there are a sizable amount of spectators too.

Sandra Pryde is there as well, watching her former foe engage in the Trial.

Ranna's Warhawk exchanges fire against a Direwolf, and for many minutes the two mechs hunt each other in the wooded terrain. Ranna keeps her distance to avoid the heavier mech's autocannons, and in the end her marksmanship proves to be decisive as a salvo of particle bolts cuts cleanly through the Direwolf's weakened left leg, collapsing it front first into the snow.

She pilots the Warhawk back towards the hangar as her victory is confirmed.

Wach the Trial with Sandra and/or meet Ranna in the hangar?

((Sorry for such a late follow up! Work has been busy.))

An ace, a Gundam, and a promise....

[1]

[If you are walking by the hangar you will see something quite unusual. Graham is standing in front of the (now repaired) Astraea, he is looking expectantly at what appears to be a crew of about 7 mechanics scrambling over the Gundam, with a computer tablet in his hand. But wait a moment, those aren't Chalice mechanics! On closer inspection their uniforms are a shade of indigo, with a logo of an open eye with the word "IRIS" in the center, emblazoned on the back. Graham yells something you can hear.]

"Now I want the whole frame to be better weight relieved as well as the armor!  Almost got my ass shot off twice I don't want to miss a dodge because I'm hauling unnecessary weight in this things posterior! Also be careful with that new tech! These are the only prototypes we've got, I want a full diagnostic of this suit sent to the R&D labs that way we can make sure it fits my requirements!"

[You see two quite enormous crates being hauled in by crane, these as well have the IRIS logo emblazoned upon them]

[2] [Locked to Adette Kistler]

[If Adette goes into her room she will see an envelope on her bed. Inside is a restaurant Napkin neatly folded (fancy looking too) when turned over written in Grahams neat military handwriting are the words: "7:00, Table 26, open the napkin for another surprise." When opened, out of the napkin fall two tickets to a private box at a fancy jazz club. In between the tickets is one last note: "I never forget a promise."]

Several of Clan Wolf's elementals are laid up in the infirmary, not looking happy as they're hooked up to machines that beep and whirr and keep them alive. They have gruesome wounds: huge pitch black bruises bespeaking internal injury from vicious snouts, chunks ripped from their skin. Whatever they fought back there, it was vicious enough to put several of the huge, genetically engineered power-armor troopers hors d'combat for weeks and months.

Then a documentary about marine life comes on the holoset left to keep them from getting too bored and suddenly every hand reaches for a weapon. React? Change the channel?

[2]

It's almost time to go and that means the dire wolves are due to be released soon: Ulric (gray brindle), Natasha (all black), Vlad (red brindle), Kaya (grey with brown paws) and Isaac (brown with blood red spots). Terrifying creatures, they each now stand the height of an adult human. These are not the cuddly pups you made much of six months ago. These are wild fucking animals and even the elementals wrangling them onto the dropship are wary of them.

Still, if you were kind to them, they may remember you...if you're not too scared to get close.

[3//locked to Adette]

It had been a hard day and Resnick was not one to usually burn the midnight oil. In the wee hours, he was sprawled face down on his spartan bunk. With both roommates absent, he could drift into deep sleep as he drooled on his pillow, dreaming that he was wearing his ceremonial leathers in a vat of sour cream while a floating nova cat (the animal, not the Clan) told him that it was developing an attraction to corpulent women. It had been a long day, full of rocket rides and terrible dolphins who were most definitely not thankful for all the fish.

He certainly didn't expect what happened next.

Ten Years looking For the Luck

1] Adette has a big cardboard box in her arms closed up tight, and a big smirk on her face. She looks down at the list of names shes scribbled on the top of the box I hope I can find everyone... It had taken all year to round everything up in preparation for this evening, it was the last night of the year after all and she could not let it go by without observation.

[[Adette has gifts for everyone she has CR for. Why is she passing them out tonight instead of last week? Maybe you should ask her.]]

2]It's was 15 minutes to midnight, and Adette was filling up your glass without invitation. "You're got to try this. Vodka from home town." A pretty, drunk, grin, as she rests her chin on her hand. "Any good resolutions?"

Affirmation and Invitation

1)

A few days after the battle against the Inspectors, a dropship (similar to but not the one attached to the Chalice) bearing the insignia of Clan Wolf arrives.

One Ranna is there as the dropship unloads some supplies, weapon pods and mech part. While the technicians transfer them onboard Chalice, a woman wearing the Wolves' formal dress uniform alights the visiting ship without much fanfare.

Ranna salutes her. "Galaxy Commander."

The other woman returns the salute before smiling, "I come bearing word from Khan Phelan Ward - it is official, we have entered into an agreement to fight these 'Inspectors' you reported on."

She then hands over what appears to be a datadisk. "Furthermore, this is a message from your House. I am aware this is rather irregular, but we do live in irregular times - since I am already making the trip, I offered the House Leader to carry it here."

For once, Ranna appears almost speechless, before she nods, "Aff. Thank you."

The galaxy commander chuckles with some familiarity, "Perhaps you will gain a promotion after this, Star Captain, quiaff?"

A grin. "Perhaps, Jocelyn, perhaps."

After some chit-chat, Jocelyn will board the dropship once more, leaving Ranna with a contemplative look as she idles in the hangar.

2)

Some time later, invitations are send out, either in person by Ranna or left at your room/locker/email.

Dear comrades,

There will be a formal event taking place in Wolf City in the coming weeks, and I would like to extend my invitation to you as guests, friends and allies to visit our enclave in Siberia on the next dropship departure.

Should you not wish to witness the event, feel free to look around the city. As of now, we have yet to integrate our currency with the rest of Terra, so if you wish to trade and barter, you may do so using my requisition chip.

I do encourage bringing goods that you can spare in order to trade - it will aid us greatly.

Ranna

((OOC: There will be a post a few days later for the actual visit.))

[[In our previous episode of "King Gainer goes Emo!" Gainer has lost Cynthia to Kids Munt and the OverDevil. He spent days straight playing games...

He only took a break to knock Werter out of his tyrannical stupor. However... that didn't take Gainer away from gaming long enough. As soon he was right back at playing them.

Just now he's not playing them locked up in his room, trying to be halfassedly social about it.

PROBLEM. Post-match, as seen by a little portable display screen meant for observers to watch people playing the home version is still stuck on a victory screen. Gainer is there... unmoving... unresponsive...

Panic?]]

(no subject)

[[Gainer hadn't even bothered to land King Gainer properely. Landing him on one knee, it was positioned for him to leave the cockpit, but... for the longest time, he didn't.

Some nut that considered himself Cynthia's "father" just made off with his best friend and only rival.

And what rubbed it in even MORE was that he'd gone up against an opponent he didn't even have the time to get a hit in on, or study. An Overskill Blizzard stronger than his own? WHAT MADNESS WAS THIS?

How long is Gainer going to mope in there? And who's going to drag him out?

(2)
[[However later... Gainer has been pulled free and is, thusly, enthralled in his game again. Because that's unusual, isn't it?]]

Adette nearly tumbled out of her Overman, and immediately threw her hat in frustration across the hangers metal decking.
"This is your fault!" She shouted at the Power Golame, if only she had had the Rushrod maybe she could have stopped time... could have brought Cynthia back. Adette wasn't that close to the pink haired gamer queen, but they where still from the same place.
Adette kicked the useless hands of the Golame in frustration, which caused it to creak, groan and then fall off the mech altogether, tumbling to the floor with a deafening clatter.
Her knees appeared her give out and she sat down on the ground, with her head in her hands. Long golder locks fell dowm the back of her well oiled leather suit.
And all around the chaos of the the hanger post mission raged on.

1] It's been a while since Adette had sneaked away for a dedicated drinking session in some dark corner of the ship, but the fast had past, and the buxom blonde was creeping around the hallways with a bottle tucked under her arm.
Adette sort of pocking her head into open doors, trying to find a place that was either unoccupied, or she found someone to drink with, either was acceptable at this point.

Photobucket

2] Later, after Adette had gotten herself sufficiently drunk, she went to sit on the observation deck. She carried her high heels in one hand as she walked, smiling as if she was pleased with the whole world. Despite her intoxication she didn't stumble, or trip. Adette was a pro and not even close to wasted, just happy drunk, buzzing with warmth and simply happiness. Once there she found a place to sit and just sort of got stuck, staring up at the night sky, her head tipped back, golden hair falling down her back, and pooling on the seat behind her. Adette loved this feeling, this sense of fulfillment, and joy, mixed in with the alcohol's soothing way to help one forget their troubles (not that she had many these days). This was the high every drinker should seek, when all that is left is happiness, and everything else just fades away.

The REAL welcome to Gucun - cuts for length

[After defeating the insurgent attack, White Chalice was escorted by the Gucun Border Patrol to the capital. And something has changed... where there was rubble, now stand buildings. The place is definitely less ruined, and looks even modern and quite advanced in some areas! You are treated like respectable guests, and there is a honor guard waiting as the ship docks, Combat Frames and soldiers on foot, looking proud to have you there.

Unknown soldiers are one thing though. Familiar faces wait for you at the docks...]

Post-Mission Annoyances

1. [After putting Casshern down, Tsukasa made a beeline for the mens room. Closing the door behind him, he exhaled and reached for his belt to power down. Just then, the shimmering sound of the Mirror World resounded and he brought up his guard only to see something. It was indistinct but it looked like a person... Tsukasa frowned.]

Shinji? Ren? ... Kanzaki?

[No answer. The shimmer happened again as the glass rippled. Cautiously he stepped forward towards the glass, as the form reached out from the other side, and carefully his fingers touched it.

Bother?]

2. [Tsukasa sat in the empty kitchen, sipping tea. He was too high strung for coffee and he was looking over his shoulder.]

I'm just being paranoid... [He grumbled to himself, moving to do the dishes when a voice in his head spoke.]

Paranoid, or needlessly reckless? You know as well as I do, Tsukasa that you're always looking for ways to get hurt...

No that's not true...

Is it? Is it really? [That nagging voice in his head made him pause a little, looking up at his reflection -- pale face from the stress or tiredness, his hair wild, almost like... devil horns.] What could be so worrisome that you want to get away from it all again?

[Tsukasa hissed as he put his things into the sink with a clink of china.]

You can't escape from it, DCD...

3. Tsukasa stood in the middle of a field.

There wasn't anything for a moment, seconds before a missile impact slammed behind him, causing him to yelp and crouch down in shock. Fumbling for his belt, he found it missing as engines roared across the battlefield. Riders on bikes, Riders on foot, explosions everywhere.

From the skies, more Riders poured from it. Castle Doran swooped around firing beams. The DenLiner zoomed around train tracks preceding it. The machines of Faiz. The Riotroopers and ZECTtroopers storming the battlefield.

Tsukasa spun around as an answering force met them in this grand battlefield, explosions throwing up opponents. Brightly clashing colors, shadowy forms, more Riders poured forth from the world around them. And from it, more colorful forms, hundred, no, two hundred, no four hundred and more! There was more chaos and explosions rocking the world around him as slowly, they began to fall one by one.

The shadowy figures whooped and hollered even as their own ranks fell. A whirlwind of color and forms followed as Tsukasa clutched his head and screamed, "MAKE IT STOP!"

A wave of energy burst free from him, and everything came to a halt as he looked up, his hands trembling. A form floated in the middle of the air, silhouetted in pink light as he saw... himself? Maybe? The belt was the same but... A symbol of eagle claws clutching a world was burned prominently in his mind.

And as the last Rider fell to the chanting masses, Tsukasa awoke screaming loud enough to be heard across the civilian rooms of the Chalice, panting as he sat up in bed.

"Decade..."

1] Sometime after dinner, if you're passing by the lounge you might hear the angry and joyous cries of one very excitable blonde Siberian. Adette had a heavy headset on over her eyes, and controller paddles in each hand from the computer game Gainer and Cynthia where always playing. Only, if her shouts where any indication she wasn't doing to hot either.

When the match finally ended she pulled off the headset with an angry jerk, cursing under her breath a little- only she bit her lip when she found out someone was standing there!
"Oh, I didn't know you where there! Sorry you had to see that."

2] With his Overman back together again, and her wounds healed Adette couldn't be happier. Though it was late, long past midnight, she could be found in the hanger polishing the fresh paint on the Overcoat of the Power Golame, she sang to herself as she worked, unabrashed, she sang out with joy, her high voice bouncing off every metal surface. She paused only to nip a shot from her flask every now and then, and her song always continued on.

"I told you baby, I'd love you maybe. But you stopped the clock the second time arounnddddd~ I need you arrrounndddd."

Moving Out

[With Kamille getting off of the Chalice Ichitaka finally found an excuse to finally move out and find himself a new room. There was only one small problem.]

Huh...where I can move into...

[Anyone that spotted him would find him sitting on a pile of boxes, deep in thought about the situation.]

Clan Wolf-in-Exile

Despite helping out with the repairs on the Chalice, you may have noticed some of the clanners being more restless than usual.

[1]

On this particular day, a rather large screen had been set up together with communication consoles at an unused corner of the hangar. Several clanners had gathered – including former bondsmen. The dire wolf pups were there as well, sniffing about curiously.

Ranna spoke softly to someone over the comms, before ending it with “Aff, my Khan.”

She switched on the video feed on the screen – it was Earth orbit again, except as the screen panned out, a ship almost a mile long went by. It was followed by another ship that was almost 900m long, both carrying the insignia of Clan Wolf. Both appeared damage, though around them were aerospace fighters and dropships flying escorts. The view continued to panned, as the main bulk of the exiled Wolves appeared.

Tens of jumpships, with hundreds of dropships trailed the 2 warships. There were various different designs, and many of them were visibly unarmed.

A secondary display on the screen showed their telemetry, and their intended destination as some of the dropships began their descent into atmosphere – Siberia.

At this, most of the clanners and even some of the wolf pups were silent, watching the screen intently.

Clan Wolf had completed its own Exodus, not unlike their Great Father many centuries ago.

[2]

The aftermath of the first landings were hectic, as Ranna and her fellow clanners took in reports of their available strength.

Finally there were some breather, and Ranna stared at the clipboard in her hand, a list of ship names apparent. Her attention was focused on the final ship listed.

She crossed out some words and corrected it with a marker.
