Clan Wolf-in-Exile

Despite helping out with the repairs on the Chalice, you may have noticed some of the clanners being more restless than usual.

[1]

On this particular day, a rather large screen had been set up together with communication consoles at an unused corner of the hangar. Several clanners had gathered – including former bondsmen. The dire wolf pups were there as well, sniffing about curiously.

Ranna spoke softly to someone over the comms, before ending it with “Aff, my Khan.”

She switched on the video feed on the screen – it was Earth orbit again, except as the screen panned out, a ship almost a mile long went by. It was followed by another ship that was almost 900m long, both carrying the insignia of Clan Wolf. Both appeared damage, though around them were aerospace fighters and dropships flying escorts. The view continued to panned, as the main bulk of the exiled Wolves appeared.

Tens of jumpships, with hundreds of dropships trailed the 2 warships. There were various different designs, and many of them were visibly unarmed.

A secondary display on the screen showed their telemetry, and their intended destination as some of the dropships began their descent into atmosphere – Siberia.

At this, most of the clanners and even some of the wolf pups were silent, watching the screen intently.

Clan Wolf had completed its own Exodus, not unlike their Great Father many centuries ago.

[2]

The aftermath of the first landings were hectic, as Ranna and her fellow clanners took in reports of their available strength.

Finally there were some breather, and Ranna stared at the clipboard in her hand, a list of ship names apparent. Her attention was focused on the final ship listed.

Mother Jocasta, Cameron-class Battlecruiser

She crossed out some words and corrected it with a marker.

Ulric Kerensky Mother Jocasta, Cameron-class Battlecruiser

She sighed softly.

Resnick stood with his arms crossed, but smiling a little. The damage they'd sustained in transit wasn't as bad as he'd thought, and he approved of the renaming.

"Not bad, quiaff?."

"The Scientists say the pups are developing well. There is only one thing bothering me..."

He removed his own tabled, hit a few buttons to get to a chart showing the Wolf chain of command.

"The computer keeps trying to change the Khan's name back to what it was before he was one of us."

"What?!" He did not look pleased. "Even the ilKhan can't simply...make up a bloodname!" And then he looked embarrassed at the contraction that slipped out.

"He should have been! The Great Father clearly meant bloodnames to be a legacy of the original eight hundred." The irony of arguing this point with someone who was a literal descendant of his was lost on him for the moment.

He doesn't say anything to that, just folds his arms and frowns. She has a point and he doesn't want to acknowledge it. Doubtless l'esprit de escelair will overcome him later and he'll think of the perfect comeback.

"It is a relief having some naval support. It did not sit right with me knowing that the Federation or Axis Zeon could bombard us any time they wished."

[Hayato evesdrops a lot more now that he doesn't have his own ship to hang out on.]

So the rest of your friends made it.

He nodded and watched the massive ships fly past for a bit.

"The Feds must be shitting themselves over that fleet showing up out of nowhere."

He didn't sound displeased by the notion.

"Honestly, I've found it easier to do my job now that they don't basically control the Earth. Fewer bureaucrats looking over my shoulder and poking their noses where they won't do any good."

"Not...Precisely. They kept sending people to investigate the Getter Ray Laboratory. A few of them had unfortunate accidents, but they were insistent, and next thing you know Getter Ray research has been banned world wide."

He grimaced in irritation, thinking about it.

"It still is, I think, but considering what we accomplished, I doubt anyone is going to complain."

Just as she finished writing on the paper, Ranna would find Adette peeking over her shoulder with a smirk.
"So, it's finally done then? Sounds like a celebration is in order."

"Sweetheart, right now I'll drink to anything you want to." This was Adette trying to lighten her mood a little. If it was one thing Adette was fond of, it was the exhale after something big happened, having the roughest ground behind you always made her feel a renewed sense of wonder about what life's road would have in-store for her next.
She really wanted to offer her support to Ranna with out insulting her pride, but she couldn't think of the words, instead she put her arm around Ranna's shoulder loosely.
"Let the boys handle this for a while, I think you've earned a little R and R for the evening, don't you? A few drinks and a hot bath, you'll be right as rain in in the morning. What do you say, huh?"

"Did you hear? One of my boys in Siberia was running a still, now that that Railway is gone, he's free to sell his glorious Vodka." She made a grand gesture with her other arm as she half pushed Ranna along and out of the hanger. "They named it after me of course, but seriously, you'll never taste a smoother Vodka in all the stars." Adette laughed while she spoke, excited to finally to spend a little down time with someone. "I'll pick it up from my room, do you know where the teleporter to the Nirvana is? I'll meet you there in like 10 minutes, they've got the most amazing 'bathtub' you've ever seen, if you could call it a 'tub'."

Adette was only a moment behind, her little duffel bag over her shoulder, and a grin on her face.

It was a quick port from one ship to the other, when they arrived Adette waved like she knew the girl waiting there, and she in turn bowed and smiled. If Rana had never been on the Nirvana before she might notice there wasn't a male to be seen anywhere here, and everyone dressed so... flamboyantly.
Adette walked down the hall like she belonged there, which she didn't really, but often came over to use the exquisite bathroom here.

"This way my friend." Adette motioned to the door just labeled 'bath'.
Inside was a dressing room, plush, and more luxurious than the nicest spa, there seemed to be no one around and Adette was rather glad for it.
Beyond the dressing room was something you could scarey call a tub, it was more decadent hot spring resort. How these people had built this on a space ship, Adette would never know, and really didn't care.
