The REAL welcome to Gucun - cuts for length
[After defeating the insurgent attack, White Chalice was escorted by the Gucun Border Patrol to the capital. And something has changed... where there was rubble, now stand buildings. The place is definitely less ruined, and looks even modern and quite advanced in some areas! You are treated like respectable guests, and there is a honor guard waiting as the ship docks, Combat Frames and soldiers on foot, looking proud to have you there.
Unknown soldiers are one thing though. Familiar faces wait for you at the docks...]
[1]

[The sound of several footsteps could be heard in the Chalice's docking bay. A small group of well equipped Gucun soldiers had arrived - they were clad in faintly familiar armor for those of you who have seen Cheng in his old infantry gear. As for Cheng himself, he was standing among the soldiers, wearing what seemed to be a mix of an armored dress uniform and an officer's longcoat - complete with his sash of office.]
My friends... Its been a long time. Somehow I can't say I'm surprised that your arrival would have ended up with guns blazing.
[Cheng was... there was no other way to say it. He looked older, a little more haggard and grey. Keeping control of Gucun with insurgents lurking arounf every corner made things difficult for the man. Still, a wry smile made its way onto his face as he said the words.]
Welcome to Gucun.
[2]

[A tall blonde woman is here to meet you, clad in an official suit. She is accompanied by two armed guards.]
Welcome to the State of Gucun. As Yun Li Kwan, the Chairman General's wife, it is my pleasure to welcome you as guests of honor. If there is anything I can help with to make your stay more comfortable, let me know.
[She nods at the guards, who promptly leave. Just as promptly, she casually leans against a nearby wall in a very familiar pose, giving the whole military parade only a quick, neutral glance.]
So... it has been a while. Good to see you back. How was the show?
[3]
[Hanging out in Gucun mingle/activity prompt. The place went through a lot, and for the better - it is actually habitable and there are places of interest around. Even if it tends towards utilitarian and a bit militaristic, and greenery is scarce and mostly kept in hydroponic farms with artificial lightning. Still, the people look hopeful, and there are even some shops and restaurants to visit! Not many, but some. Or you can just explore the nigh-monolithic capital fortress, its hangars full of modernized Combat Frames, facilities and bureaus. You may be able to find people such as - see below.]
[4]

Ah, welcome.
[In case you wanted to visit Han Zhi's office, well here it is - and you are greeted warmly by its owner as soon as you enter.]
Apologies for the commotion. Between insurgent attacks and the recent change of situation, everyone has been busy. But I always find free time for friends of the Chairman General. Anything I can help you with?
[For Cheng's right-hand man and someone who is almost singlehandedly responsible for Gucun's rise from ruin and poverty, he sounds pretty relaxed and casual.]
[5]

[Suddenly, while minding your own business you find yourself the receiver of an evil eye. A young man in Gucun military uniform is giving you the evil eye - staring in an unfriendly fashion is all he does for now, but he's very good at it. Armed guards are not too far away, just in case...]

Devon! You were very convincing. I knew you were adaptable, but I'm honestly surprised.
[Surprised, and a little concerned, as she takes in the changes in her friend's appearance. Not showing much of her pregnancy, though Devon's build has always been unusual. And perhaps a little worn by the cares of running Gucun...?]

[Laura's glancing over does not escape Devon's attention.]

It's only been like 3 months and you already got the country running like this?

Tatsu glad to see you are okay, but Tatsu no understand. Tatsu read about human female pregnancy and you don't look like a woman who is four months into the pregnancy...You and the child are okay right? And why did they call you Yun Li?

Awesome! This stuff is much more tasty than colony food!
Though the bread is nothing in comparison to what the Captain makes!
Re: 3
... Hopefully, when they rebuild the Ptolemy, there will be an actual kitchen on board. [dear god that food/paste was terrible] How did you find this place, Tobia Arronax? [ignore the last name bit, it's just how he rolls.]

Adette had just been minding her own business when she felt eyes on her. A woman like her always knew when she was being watched.
She turned carefully, a little on edge, but also doing her best to smile pretty, and exude an air of welcome and attraction.
"It's such a shame to pull such a dirty look on such a pretty face." When all else fails, flirt your way out of trouble.

[The soldier seems immune to feminine wiles. If anything, he gets only more annoyed.]
Why have you come to Gucun? Nobody asked foreigners to be here.
(no subject)
5, because something bad should happen, amirite?
W-what's wrong?
[ Guards? Guy in a military uniform? ]
no subject
Foreigners, who couldn't care less when people of Gucun were dying from hunger and strife - now they are let in and treated like honored guests, like heroes. Foreigners such as you.
That's wrong.
