An ace, a Gundam, and a promise....
[1]
[If you are walking by the hangar you will see something quite unusual. Graham is standing in front of the (now repaired) Astraea, he is looking expectantly at what appears to be a crew of about 7 mechanics scrambling over the Gundam, with a computer tablet in his hand. But wait a moment, those aren't Chalice mechanics! On closer inspection their uniforms are a shade of indigo, with a logo of an open eye with the word "IRIS" in the center, emblazoned on the back. Graham yells something you can hear.]
"Now I want the whole frame to be better weight relieved as well as the armor! Almost got my ass shot off twice I don't want to miss a dodge because I'm hauling unnecessary weight in this things posterior! Also be careful with that new tech! These are the only prototypes we've got, I want a full diagnostic of this suit sent to the R&D labs that way we can make sure it fits my requirements!"
[You see two quite enormous crates being hauled in by crane, these as well have the IRIS logo emblazoned upon them]
[2] [Locked to Adette Kistler]
[If Adette goes into her room she will see an envelope on her bed. Inside is a restaurant Napkin neatly folded (fancy looking too) when turned over written in Grahams neat military handwriting are the words: "7:00, Table 26, open the napkin for another surprise." When opened, out of the napkin fall two tickets to a private box at a fancy jazz club. In between the tickets is one last note: "I never forget a promise."]

It had only been three days since her drunken bawlfest with Resnick, and this was the last thing she was expecting to find when she came back from the guy.
"Well, damn." Shes shook the tickets in her hands, and looking in the mirror with a worried smirk. "This is either the dumbest things you've ever got yourself into, or maybe things are starting to look up already."
----
She was right on time, but Adette felt like rather like a whore in church. She had braided her impossibly long hair into a crown, and donned a ratherfitting red dress and heels. She told the man at the door the table, and she followed him with her chin felt aloft despite her inner worry.
no subject
"So you got my message, I was hoping you would. Glad you could make it."
no subject
"You certainly have a flair for the dramatic." Adette smirked carelessly, despite her inner misgivings. She sits down beside him, and pursed her lips, a little unsure of herself for once.
He was quite handsome in his light, and so young. Well dressed, and effortless, it would be plain for anyone to see a man like this was destined for great things.
"How long would you have sat here if I didn't?" She looked at him with pointed playfulness, and a lipstick red pout.
no subject
"I suppose that depends on how long you took to get here."
(Bond... eat your heart out)

She laughed behind her hand. And he was cocky, what a brilliant combination.
"You are something else that's for sure." She signaled the waiter to come back, and she ordered a drink. "Russian Standard on the rocks. On second thought, hold the ice." Adette never went long with would a drink, especially in a place like this. She waited for him to order and then turned to regard him as he did, her curiosity more than peaked now.
"So tell me, Mr. Graham Acker, where did you come from? Men like you don't just fall out of the sky. At least, not where I'm from. Nothing much falls out of the sky except snow, and Clanners. But the latter is a relatively new addition to the tundra."
no subject
"You do look radiant this evening miss Kistler. You surely do know how to make an impression."
[He looks up at the waiter as well]
"Oban(single malt scotch) straight, and for accompaniment with dinner we will have a 76 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, two glasses please."
[After the waiter has left he looks at Adette as if sizing her up with his piercing stare.]
[he grins]
"The UNION, America to be precise though now I work for the AEUG but I'm sure you knew that...[He suddenly looks a bit distant] Heh, it's been a while since I thought about home..
no subject
Ah Adette, apparently you have very predictable taste.
"I'm glad you approve. I bought this dress a while back on the colonies, bu tI never had a chance to wear it." For Micheal
"I didn't mean to bring up bad memories." She touched his arm carefully. "I think everyone on the Chalice has followed a rather broken road to get here today. But," Her soft look melted effortlessly into a lopsided smirk, warm and inviting. "I wouldn't trade one horrible thing in the past if it meant I wouldn't have ended up right here, where I am this very moment."
no subject
"Smells amazing! It feels like I havent eaten in weeks!"
no subject
She was about to implore him with sweet words, and gentle touch when the food arrived. Adette got a bit wide eyed, you just didn't see food like this in the Dompoli often.
"Wow!" It was obvious she was truly impressed. "The only time I eat this good is when I spend all day in the kitchen making it myself." She spread her napkin in her lap and tipped back her drink. Under the table Adette slid her toe against the outside of his ankle coyly, although he expression remained demure and amused.

[Graham manages to compose himself and take a sip of wine while still keeping eye contact with Adette]
"Y-yeah... I know the chef he's a good freind of mine, I saved his life a long time ago"
(How can I concentrate on eating with her! This is too much!)
no subject
"MMm, I see." She nodded with a tilt of her shoulder and pressed the rim of her glass to her lips. When she was done she set it down, and her deep red lip stick pressed off on the rim.
"I bet that's quite a story." Adette could see she had gone to far, and pulled her foot back just slightly. But his reaction answered a great many questions. He was easy startled by a woman, intimidated almost. It was likely the number of women in his life prior to this moment was either very small, or they where all very prude. It was strange really, in contrast to Resnick's reactions to such things, or even Micheal's. Adette wondered if this was because he was obviously an accomplished ace. All work and no play? How could a man with so much swagger be so... timid?
Even if it was true or not, it was certainly interesting.
"You should tell it to me sometime."
no subject
"The usual, James"
(Heh it's a good thing i can handle my liquor i'm not even that drunk yet...)
[The manager turns to Adette]
"And for you madame? "
[Graham looks over at you with a smile]
"Order whatever you wants its all on the house, I know the owner he was a wingman of mine in fact the name of this club is a bit of an inside joke..."
no subject
"You just know everyone don't you?" She ribbed him softly. "It's better you figure this out now, I always drink Vodka. I'm Russian, and perhaps it's playing into stereotypes, but if we are drinking, it's always vodka for me." She leaned over and whispered it softly, using it as an excuse to touch the back of his arm, carefully to not quite touch her chest to his arm. "It must be wonderful, being so accomplished, and having known so many people. Why are you on the Chalice now? What are you trying to accomplish? I find that usually men like you have lofty goals in mind." She was trying to make meaning conversation, but she wasn't quite as elegant as it as she liked to believe.
no subject
(Why am I here? is it because of them? Celestial Being... Or because of Howard and Darryl?)
I suppose the answer to that is simple, the AEUG wanted somebody on this ship that could handle their affairs as well as a pilot with skill. I fit the description of both, so naturally I was chosen.
(Well you volunteered, but whats a verb between friends?)
"The chalice is... Unlike anything I've ever encountered and its crew is even stranger... like a bunch of strangers gathered by some external force, like they were drawn by something..."
[After that strange bit of musing he looks up]
"But now is not the time for dark thoughts, now is the time for... Dancing."
[He motions to Adette and almost on cue the band starts up with John Coltrane's "Round Midnight" kicks in. He gently grasps her hand his fingers slightly brushing her palm leading her into the small area on the balcony and places the other one around her waist, not breaking eye contact the entire time. He begins to sway and turn slowly with the rhythm, its plainly obvious he's done this before and is very good at it.]
no subject
"Isn't it though After all those long years of informational isolation, the Chalice was like a carnival to me when I first got here. We didn't know there was a soul alive outside Siberia, imagine my surprise when I was just a stole away on the ship and it took off for space." For a moment she thought of that day, and the man she had met that night, his blond hair and powerful demeanor not so unlike Graham's. "I do agree it's quite strange. None of us can seem to break away from it's spell. My fight is almost over, and still I can't bring myself to even think about leaving that Chalice."
Graham would find his lovely date was not quite as good at this as he was. She had danced before, but these steps where unknown to her. She clung to his shoulder for dear life, letting him lead so she could clumsily follow. She smiled and laughed but didn't complain or try to stop. His touch was warm, the strength of his hand in hers was comforting after everything that had happened this week. The stars twinkling over head peeking out from between folds of thick ebony velvet set the tone just right.
no subject
[He caught himself smiling again....]
"Who knows what else we may encounter... but think, whatever it is; be it inspectors or anything else, we can handle it."
[Graham looked down at her and he realizes he cant keep his eyes off her, slowly as the music winds down he holds her closer...]
no subject
"I've learned since coming to the Chalice, you can't even fathom what's coming next, so stop trying, but be ready. When we all put our mechs and heads and hearts together, there doesn't seem to be much we can't do." Including this dance, which she was rather getting the hang of. She noticed the way he was looking at her, and it made her flutter a little, even against the still fresh wounds Micheal had left in his sudden egress. How long was it appropriate to wait after such a thing?
Who cares, I'm a grown damn woman, and I'll do as I please.
"And every departure of friends, bring us so many new faces and hands to join the fight. I love that about this place. Everything is always changing." Her dress fluttered perfectly around her pale knees as they danced, Adette looking every bit the part.
"You shouldn't look at me like that you know." She smiled and leaned her forehead in a little, "I'm nothing but trouble, ya know."
no subject
"It's funny this place you, me it's almost like it was... Back then, hell, even the Chalice is like finding my old self again."
[Once again he looks down at her, you don't even notice that you've stopped dancing...]
Adette, I... Don't want to impose...anything...
no subject
She smirked, with a little sound of amusement. She could not wait to tell Resnick all about this, the poor fool would die of laughter when she retold this tale.
"It is." Although their feet had stopped, Adette knew the dance he was getting at now.
"Oh?" she lifted an eye brow carefully. "But you do." She all but dared him with that playfully charming grin.
no subject
"I think you misunderstood i was going to offer to drive you home instead of calling a cab. But what you said works too."
[ He gives you a roguish wink, still laughing]
no subject
Oh aren't you just adorable?
Adette grinned, partially she was just to amused not to.
"Aren't we both going back to the ship?" She made a little motion in the general direction, a bit confused.

Not as big as what Lowe has, though. But he's crazy.
