It all just seems like sceince fiction to me.

1] Adette was looking at a glass of water, her chin on the table, and the rest of her slumped in the chair. She sighed and blew her bangs out of her face with a defeated sound.
Life was so much abrasive with out the haze of intoxication, every sound seemed louder than before, but not startling. It was almost strange to have a clear head, and un-addled perceptions. And yet all the same, it was like missing your best friend.
"This sucks!"
2][Locked to Resnick]
Meet me in the gym. I have the need to punch someone I can't actually hurt.

"'This' being...?"

"Hey Ranna." Adette didn't pick her chin up.
"Water. I hate it. What good is drinking something if it doesn't get you drunk?" she sighed and sat up. "I haven't had a drink in like three days, I think I might kill something."
no subject
"You are acting as if you are still in sibko training. I am curious though - surely the alcohol supply onboard has not ran out?"
no subject
"Eh." Adette replied curtly and leaned back in the chair. "Oh no, there is plenty to be had, certinally. It's just," She frowned. "Well, it feel's like... my fight here may be ending, and I promised Gainer-" It was hard to put it all together. "I asked Gainer if he would stay with me, like, ya know, a family or something when it was time he left the Chalice. I worry the kid would die with out someone to make sure he doesn't just stay in his room and play video games all day."
no subject
"And it is very responsible of you, then, to think on your charges, quiaff?"
Then a wry grin.
"What will you do when Gainer himself reaches drinking age, hm?"
no subject
"I have no intention of leaving soon, but it's not really up to just me. Gainer's just a kid, he didn't sign up for the military. He didn't know what he was getting himself into when this all started. It's partially even my fault he get involved in exodus in the first place. I dunno I feel responsible for him." She shrugged a little. "But yeah, you're right. It's a change I have to make in myself. To one can do it for me, and if it's for him, I know I can do it but," She made a pathetic face. "It still really stinks."
Adette thought on it a moment.
"I don't really see Gainer as the alcohol type. But then, he's just as russian as I am, who knows. We'll burn that bridge when we get to it." She laughed a little bit. It felt nice to get this out in the open.
"How did you name trial thing go? I'm sorry I was so exhausted to stay the whole time."
no subject
"Think on the bright side - you do not have to experience the unpleasantness of hangovers as well, quiaff?"
She smiles slightly.
"I won."
Simple reply, but there is a definite sense of pride there.
no subject
"As if there where ever any doubt." The consistency of these clanner perfection was started to get a bit routine, Adette couldn't help but be the tiniest bit jealous, though she would never admit it to Ranna or Resnick.
"So what's next then? Do this come with some big promotion or what?"
no subject
She ponders for a bit.
"It sometimes occur that the Khan may give ransom to warriors for certain deeds, but I have heard nothing of it yet."
no subject
"Maybe your where worried, but I wasn't." She pressed her lips together and smirked cutely.
"Well that's good. I mean, I was worried it meant you both where going to leave. It would really suck around here with our you guys."
no subject
A light chuckle.
"I do not think I will leave even if I obtain a promotion. It is more likely that the number of Wolf warriors onboard will simply increase."
no subject
"I wonder how the other residents of the ship will feel about that. You guys are going to end up out numbering the rest of us eventually." She smirked slyly, clearly sarcastic. "What will you do then? Take over the Chalice for your own?"
no subject
Ranna smirks back in response.
no subject
"You have a point. All to often this feels a bit like a day care center. I mean, I joined the Railway at 17, but still. I'll never feel right letting kids like Gainer fight like this." She shrugged. "It's not up to me, I guess they have the right to fight for their futures too but still." Adette smiled and pushed the thought from her mind.
"I would say we should celebrate, but, eh, trying not to drink. I know if I do now, I'll just get wasted and this will have been for nothing."
no subject
Then a nod.
"However, I am aware that it does not work that way for most of the Inner Sphere. Even in the Clans one does not enter a Trial to be warrior until about your enlistment age or later."
Ranna smiles. "We can celebrate without drinking alcohol, quiaff?"
no subject
"We could." Adette paused. "Although I'm not entirely sure what that would entail. I always just drink!" She laughed, mostly at her self, and her own ignorance.

Adette laughed aloud. She would never stop being amused by the clanners lack of modesty about sex. "If we keep casually joking about having sex, we're going to have to go it one of these days." Used to it? Very much so. But she still got a laugh out of it none the less. "Ooooo would it make Resnick green, I bet you! He's so jealous of you sometimes."
no subject
"Oh, he is jealous of me? Why?" She sounds genuinely curious.
no subject
"Finally tired of managing the Terrible Trio, quiaff?"
Something did seem different about her but he couldn't tell what. It was the smell of alcohol that was gone, the background radiation of being around her.
no subject
"You could say that." She frowned a little. "Thanks for coming, I appreciate it. I knew I could count on you." Good old Resnick, loyal as a hound. She put her hand on his shoulder and smiled a little bit. It was good to see him, it felt like it had been a really long time.
resnick=sandor clegane?
"Do you like it? I told you I would get a real one when I earned my bloodname." He said as he tossed her her gloves over his shoulder.
no subject
Adette watching him, her eyes could not help but trace out the lines on his skin. And now, just as promised, he showed his new addition.
She caught them easily, looking at his tattoo with small wonder.
"I like it. Did it hurt alot?" Adette tied back her hair and took off her track jacket, her heaving chests barely contained in what must have been one of Gainer's t-shirts.
"I'm glad you got everything you wanted." She smiled softly at him, if anything a little big jealous.
no subject
no subject
"Oh be reasonable. The whole reason I asked you is because I know I'm can't really hurt you. Not in a real fight anyways, I wouldn't stand a chance." She put her hands in the gloves, they where to big, and clunky, but it didn't matter. Cracking her neck she took a deep breath.
"Just try not to mess up my pretty face will ya? It's all I got left." She pushed out her lips and grinned sarcastically.

She took a deep breath, and as soon as he was ready she came at him. Holding her arms tight to her body she swung at him with a strange determination. It was not directed at him per say, but he had willingly put himself on the other end of it.
Not drinking had left her to think about alot of things, and in turn those thoughts had left her with frustration in the pit of her stomach she could not drink away now. This seemed like a relatively safe alternative to getting shit faced.
Ask a clanner to come beat your around the ring for an hour.
Probably kills the same amount of brain cells.
It was not fury in her movements, but a need to release the tension inside her. It felt good when she connected solidly with his shoulders, the soft, slapping sound of her gloves on his skin made a lovely sound, though it was far from a hard hit.

The next punch he'd try to parry down and circle towards that side, the same way one did in a mech.
no subject
It felt good to be deflected so easily in a strange way she could not put into words. The fluid exchange of motion between them.
Their snowball fight in Antarctica came flooding back into her mind as she laughed, stepping back once, twice, following him around. She swung once, for his face, and just before she hit him, she bent her knees and dashed in, trying to slam her shoulder into her chest squarely.
And even so, she laughed aloud, forgetting how good this felt.
no subject
He stumbled back and regained his balance after a step. Nevermind that fancy parrying, he might just have to crash and crowd her.
no subject
Adette made a weird sound on impact, but only because it was mixed with laughter as she stumbled back, almost skipping as her feet didn't move quite as planned.
He was all up in her face, but she pulled her arms in tight to her chest to keep her face tucked in behind her to big gloves, jabbing out shortly trying to keep him back waiting for a moment, where if he opened his stance she would try and sweep pone of his legs out from under him.
no subject
So he had to hop and then stumble back. Instead of trying to recover and angle off again, he let the ropes take him, springing off with them, laughing too. This dance with her felt easy and comfortable as a worn in cheapo standard issue t-shirt.
no subject
For him of course. Adette didn't much care about winning against him anyways, this was about letting it out, going through the motions and remembering what it felt like to not be held down by the drag of alcohol.
She watched him hop about, stepping back just a little to brace for his return. Only when he launched himself off the ropes he wound find her in his way, not with fists drawn but with her arms open and more or less catch him flat to her chest, grinning wide like a Cheshire Cat

He needed to work on his defense. This was beginning to show him how much he relied on overwhelming his opponents with a blitzkrieg.

But, at least, as of late, he's been keeping a notebook with him and scribbling in it when he's playing.
Re: 1
"Shut up!" She shouted at him, in her normal annoyed tone with out even picking her chin up from the table. "Hey, what are you doing out?" She sat up, a bit impressed. "Who are you? And what have you done with the real Gainer?" She sized the boy by the shoulders playfully and shook him. "My Gainer would never leave his video games at this time of the after noon!" Her smile was wide, despite the dull ache of reality.
Re: 1
No, really, stop shaking him!
"I can't take notes and play at the exact same time. Or read."
Re: 1
"Notes?" She let him go easily, and kicked out the chair beside her. "What are you taking notes for? Gunna write a book?" Now she was curious, Adette had always wondered what kinds of things Gainer liked to do besides play video games, or pilot robots, or play video games about piloting robots.
Re: 1
Granted it's not... quite the right place to start, but it's somewhere until he can get a hold of the literature and programs he needs to start on his own.
And a computer... kind of need one of those.
Re: 1
"Making video games?" Adette smiled, so he was thinking about the future too. "Sounds like a good dream. I bet the Game Champ could come up with one heck of a game. Can I help?"
Re: 1
Yep, he just asked HER to play, solo.
Re: 1
"Me?" Adette blinked stupidly. "If it'll help you Gainer, I'll play for you, but, ya know, try not to berate my technique too much, ok?"
Adette made a mental note to hunt done books on game programming the next time they pulled in somewhere.
Re: 1
"So... just play but... don't slack off on getting better."
