Phase Twenty-One: Your Standard Fairy Tale Happy Ending

[The world has been saved, hopefully for the last time in a long time. The celebrations - and the mourning - have started, and in a lot of places are still continuing. But the victory isn't the only thing to celebrate - and with a lot of help, and a lot of favours, Laura and Lily have extended an invitation to the Chalice crew, past and present, to join them. If you were nearby, chances are the invitation was hand-delivered by a dutiful Servbot.]

1. The setup
[With the looming deadline of the closing portals, things move quickly! Invitations are sent, travel is arranged, a venue is prepared. What had been the White Chalice's Arboretum - now an open-air grove in what's set to become a lush forest - is the site of the ceremony itself, while the celebrations afterwards will take place in Gucun. There's a lot to be done to make ready. Are you helping, or seeking out one of the brides beforehand?]

2. The ceremony
[It's only fitting that Captain Smith should officiate. He's waiting at an arch set up by the flowerbeds of the Arboretum, where the happy couple met, where Laura's tended her memorial to her friends from before the Chalice and to those who've passed on since. Between the Kwan daughters, Epimetheus, and a brace of Servbots you shouldn't have any trouble finding your seat, even if Xue Yi is a little preoccupied ensuring Prometheus behaves. There's some time before the wedding party arrive, to talk amongst yourselves - or with some of the other guests present, who include Laura's overwhelmed-looking parents!]

3. The reception
[Of course, the real point of a wedding is the party afterwards! There's food, drink, and music - Miki pulled some strings, and Pit's showing how Skyworld does catering. After the recent battle, perhaps this is a chance to see some long-absent faces in more peaceful circumstances, or to say goodbye. Or are you just here for the embarrassing speeches?]

[This is a joint mingle post, open to dropped and retired characters as well! For all prompts, please specify whether it's Laura/Lily you want to talk reply, or others!]

It was more than a year ago.

But, that's it...Along with the lack of decent bars to go to when off duty. Nothing to do when off base and not much to do on base while off duty either.

That will be a sight to behold. He's as tough in tiny form as in giant one, just compressed.

Anyway, I'm happy to see you work for the sake of others like that, Miki. You've grown much stronger than the first time we met... Hell, we both did. Also, I like to hear you sing.

Fortunately I don't have that problem... As long as I have my massive collection with me, that is.

Umm...

What is this? Some kind of device? I can't figure out how it works...

Maybe now it will be easier to spread Irgelion culture! Not just among Irgelions, but humans too. Getting to know each other better is a good way to stop prejudice...

I hope it will disappear completely one day. What your ancestors did wasn't your fault. You shouldn't have to suffer for it.

Oh, flowers don't explode! It's the trees that do. And cacti. Well, some of them; not all plants get the materials required to construct explosive reactors for themselves. It's pretty much a random thing.

Of course there's pollen; how else would flowers spread? Though the mechanics are completely different from how it works on Earth... I think. Some things about organic life are still a mystery for me.

Then know me they shall. Lead on... or does that happen after the ceremony?

It...

It is really good! Not as delicious as your uncle's burgers, but good nevertheless.

How is it made? I must know!

[It is a small statue of a woman, carved of soap. And judging by her exaggerated sexual characteristics-]

It is a fertility totem.

There's Captain Smith, in his fancy ball uniform. Which is the same as his normal outfit. He wields a golf stick like a scepter, a symbol of the Captain's power.

"Listen up, everyone! We gathered here today to celebrate as two of my crew... I'm still the Captain, right? Even with White Chalice's a goner?"

"That's correct, Captain."

"Good! Because two of my crew wish to forge an eternal, sacred, traditional vow between a supernatural Earthnoid girl and an alien robot girl. As I said, very traditional."

"So all things and lobstermen considered, will you take Lily as your wife Laura Ericks?"

Not everyone deals as well with being alone as you. Besides, I imagine that even you might want to get away from the base sometimes. Even if just to have something to eat other than the food in the cafeteria. Military rations aren't known for being tasty after all.

That still seems worrying. Plants don't really explode here, why would they anyway?

And for something completely different, it sure seems Earth-like.

True. It does make it easier to deal with. Even if it ruins all the image we got from tv as kids. And probably raise some questions for scientists.

Still hard to really imagine...Maybe I'll end up going there once everything's properly demobilized.

[personal profile] a_human_work 2014-02-26 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I should probably try going to talk to them when I have a bit of time, then.

And if I can depends on what I'll do once we're done demobilizing. It depends on work and such. And my parents. They'll probably want to actually get to spend some time with their daughter again.

"We're halfway there! Now, Lily Rain EVE Theta, will you take Laura as your wife?"

[personal profile] saikyocivrobo 2014-02-26 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
True. Even if, as a college student, I'm more than used to horrible food. And then was the time when White Chalice suffered from supply shortage...

Whoops, look at me. Reminiscing about old times already.

Yeah. I imagine it must be hard to return to being an ordinary college student after this...Both the experience of fighting and just plain all the weirdness. Who's going to be able to relate to hanging out with an angel or having known the president of Neo-America?

After everything we've been through... Of course. I do.
