In all the excitement of passing next to a predator city, being kidnapped and losing the trail of Stalker Fang and Fishcake, Oenone had forgotten all about her friend's birthday. So when Prometheus made himself useful for once, she had to scramble for something to make him.

There weren't any cakepans so she had to make do with trying to make a tray of cupcakes instead. Well no problem, right? She was a prodigy surgeon-mechanic, the youngest to ever be licensed, and a damn good cook of nutritious food. A few fluffy cupcakes should be, well, a piece of cake, right? Wrong. They ended up kindof mushy still on one end and burnt on the other. How had that even happenede? Shouldn't it have violated the third law of thermodynamics?

She looked downcast when she presented them to him. "I'm sorry. I tried, but they ended up like this."

[Werter pokes one of the cupcakes, as if expecting it to deflate or something.]

It's just dough and sweets, right? Technically speaking, it's impossible for those to have any harmful side effects.
