[Aboard the moving buildings of the Exodus, talking to herself]
'Combat Instructor' again, huh?
[Calvina wraps her jacket up a little tighter and looks out across the Siberian permafrost from her vantage point.]
Everyone on this 'exodus' is a civilian...they want to know how to fight because they have to. No, they chose to. Throwing themselves out in the world like this, and asking me of all people to help hold them up? They don't even know what they're getting into. Even the 'volunteers'.
Tch. Well, at least the pay's good, and they're sticking around with my room and board...

[Look who's laughing off this Siberian brutality with just a slightly heavier coat and a cup of coffee. Lousy bastard and his time in the even colder Antarctic.]
And isn't it better this way? It beats having a lot of rookies forced into it.

Josh! Tell me it's you!

Tohya?
[The kid's older... but then again the last time Josh saw Tohya was more than two years ago, and he begins to smile a bit and head towards him.]
Sorry Calvina, this is an old friend of mine.

[She's sighing, but good-naturedly.]

[Anyways, it's clear introductions are in order so Josh gestures towards Calvina.]
Tohya, this is another friend of mine. We both came over on the White Chalice... her name's Calvina Coulange and she's going to be helping train the pilots here. And Calvina, this is Tohya Shiun; like I said before, we knew each other from a few years back.

I don't see why I have to take King Gainer out on patrol right now! Isn't that what the other ship is doing here?

And then there's the ones who didn't volunteer. Is there a problem, you two?

He isn't even supposed to be here today. He turns and looks, with disappointment.]]You're from that ship, right? Aren't your people supposed to be patrolling for us?

For one thing most of the Witches are huddling up to space heaters until they get emergency orders. We're just helping out the local militia right now. I suppose you're a Silhouette Machine pilot?no subject

[Look who's here! Somehow, Devon can always find her way around if it means butting into other people's business. Also, she is in her usual attire of a teenage Nirvana fan who was attacked by a wild bear. She does not seem to mind the freezing cold much though.]
They should learn themselves. The only good teacher is experience.

You may be able to teach them unit controls or muster them around, but we all know real combat is something else altogether. A lot of them will die either way.

I merely meant the situation... Civilians fleeing from their homes in larg groups, demanding training from the people guarding them. Going into a world they do not comprehend.
[Cheng folds his arms]
Though in your case you don't have to train them to remain fed.

Calling it a military would be somewhat overstating things though. A militia would be perhaps a much more realistic level of how much they would be able to build themselves up to...
[After all training takes time]
