1 - A boy in the brig

[The surviving captured Disciple of Baphomet is in the brig and has been since the fight with them a week ago. He seems rather resigned. He eats and sleeps and exercises but doesn't do much else. He hasn't tried to escape, nor has he really complained.]

((OOC: Feel free to time your posts at any point after this log: warning: the log contains a somewhat graphic suicide.))

Push come to shove we'll fill just fill basin for you or something. It's less work for us and more for you, but if that's what you'd rather do so be it.

Suit yourself.

Also, if you're trying to find ways to pass the time, it's customary for inmates in prisons to have at least limited access to a library. We don't have a communal library onboard, so you're going to have to fall on the graces of anyone you're on good terms with to get a physical book, but we do have some stuff stored digitally.

Not surprised. But at least you know it's there now though in case you ever change your mind.

[Huh, bringing this up, was he? Josh wasn't surprised, considering what happened to his friend.]

That's a fairly nuanced subject you're talking about. I think the answer's fairly obvious though. Of course life's important; it's not something people should casually cast aside.

You probably feel the same way... for the most part.

For humans it is.

But I'm not talking about reckless destruction of nature here, I'm talking about survival. Most individuals of any species will try to preserve their own life, at least until they can reproduce.

If I had to pick between saving a person and saving an animal, and all personal attachments were being taken out of consideration? I'd save one of my own.

I wouldn't expect any different if an animal had to choose between saving me and one of its own.

[It lets him get a little better grasp of what kind of person Flynn is, no more, no less.]

A lot of people probably do feel the same way, they just don't know how to properly express it is all.

What about you? What's your answer to the question?

[identity profile] azure-savior.livejournal.com 2012-01-30 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
And that's certainly another way to answer the question, and the one I expected, truth be told.

Were you expecting my answer to be what you got from me?

[identity profile] azure-savior.livejournal.com 2012-01-30 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well you'd do well to leave some of your expectations at the door. You're not in any position for posturing, all things considered.

On the other hand, you have quite a bit to gain if you play your cards right.

Alright then.

I'll see what's on your mind some other time then.
