And while the rest of the Chalice celebrates in loud parties, in the Arboretum, Samus sits, crosslegged and with closed eyes, under the biggest tree. As she usually does, in fact - people may have already started to grow accustomed to seeing her there, really. One wonders when the hell this woman sleeps, given the amount of time she spends there.

She's not really one for parties, and she doesn't really understand this Christmas business (being raised by aliens from another dimension will do that). It seems to be some kind of thanks festival, but the details of it elude the mind of someone operating on Chozo logic, for now.

And so, she never saw a particular reason to participate in any of the festivities. She intends to simply spend the day with her thoughts. Much to think about, after all.

(I figured there would be people that preferred to chat a bit with the weirdo in the Arboretum, or variously chill out around, rather than go to the parties. Hence, here we are!)

Indeed. I rarely attend festivals. [She then seems to think a bit, and smiles ever so slightly, with a hint of irony] Though they would not have been likely to allow me in, in any case.

[She then looks at the cake with a certain curiosity. But she decides to accept it for what it is, and takes it with a nod]

[The last part ofMarKus's words merits a raised eyebrow. Samus does not really parse what "hang out" means, and she doesn't understand Christmas beyond the fact that it's a festival - so she has no idea what "Christmas episodes" means]

Festivals are important for a people to have. But right now I prefer to stay here.

I can't argue with that. I don't particularily enjoy crowds stuffing themselves into a small room, being loud and getting drunk either.

I am given to understand many humans enjoy alcohol intoxication greatly, so they incorporate it in their celebrations. Different cultures have different standards. [Samus mentions this rather conversationally. Though the way she speaks of humans in sort-of-third person may be a tad telling]

[Quietly, because the setting seems to call for quiet. And since Laura's here to decompress now that Loraine's party has used up her energy for dealing with people, quiet suits her just fine.]

[Samus simply nods and gestures at Laura to sit down. Why would she mind?]

[Laura simply sits. Samus' presence provide a comforting sense of having someone there without any sense of awkwardness or pressure to speak, and she relaxes in to it.]

Kensuke walks by, with his camera pressed to his face, running about trying to get as much of the festivities on film as he can. But it's wearing him out. Kensuke's never really participated in Christmas, so he's not really sure what to do. As he wanders past where Samus is sitting, he turns and starts to film here to.

[No reaction for now. Samus may be one of the few females Kensuke has ever met who are not bothered by some guy filming them out of nowhere :P. In a skintight bodysuit no less. She just seems to irradiate peace]

[Samus looks at the small robot. She was unaware there were any more robots like Prometheus in the ship. This one seems more sedate than the other little hellion, though]
