And while the rest of the Chalice celebrates in loud parties, in the Arboretum, Samus sits, crosslegged and with closed eyes, under the biggest tree. As she usually does, in fact - people may have already started to grow accustomed to seeing her there, really. One wonders when the hell this woman sleeps, given the amount of time she spends there.

She's not really one for parties, and she doesn't really understand this Christmas business (being raised by aliens from another dimension will do that). It seems to be some kind of thanks festival, but the details of it elude the mind of someone operating on Chozo logic, for now.

And so, she never saw a particular reason to participate in any of the festivities. She intends to simply spend the day with her thoughts. Much to think about, after all.

(I figured there would be people that preferred to chat a bit with the weirdo in the Arboretum, or variously chill out around, rather than go to the parties. Hence, here we are!)

Holidays can just be kind of difficult. So much emotion flying around it can start affecting your own, you know?

I can't say I do, sorry. But I can understand how an overload of ambient emotion could be uncomfortable, as can crowds.

There were festivals, yes. But Chozo are mildly tele-empathic creatures. The young are taught very early how not to let other emotions cloud their own. It would be painful otherwise.

It comes in handy in events such as today.

I have heard of Newtypes lately. I gather they are some kind of psychically-enhanced humans?

Something like that. I haven't really been keeping up with the research, but the idea is that some humans have evolved expanded senses. Most of the ones I've met have been pretty emotional as a result.

It's hard to say. I'm completely ordinary, myself, so I try not to worry about it. It just seems more common in teenagers, and they're already all so...

That is an unbalancing period in the best of circumstances. Having extra senses you cannot shut off on top of that, would certainly be enough to impair most people's self-control.
