[Late on the last evening before the Chalice departs from Fairy Park, a new face appears aboard - a pale, petite young woman with long red hair and the look of someone who isn't sure where they're supposed to be headed but doesn't want to admit it. It doesn't help that she appears to be steering around whatever concentrations of people exist at this hour, with the side effect of routing her away from most interesting locations. After a while of fruitless wandering on the Promenade, she gives up and hesitantly approaches the nearest person.]

Um, hello... I'm new aboard, and I need to see the captain, or whoever's in charge... do you know where I can find them?

Ah, I'm Laura, Laura Ericks. I'm here to join the crew, so I guess that means we'll be teammates - it's nice to meet you.

[Her left hand is tightly grasping a sealed envelope, while her right fidgets with a metal wristwatch on her left arm. Is this girl afraid of you, or just afraid of everything?

Well I assist the cook of the ship, Tsukasa, and I am a temporary mage with the Time Space Administration Bureau, a.k.a. the TSAB.

I've never heard of that organization. And... did you say a mage? Like, with magic?

The TSAB is an multidimensional police force but we aren't well known on Earth, so I am not suprised you haven't heard of us.

Yes I am a mage. I cast spells to fight. Though a decent amount of my magic is based on a form of technology, it all comes from an innate ability found in people that is considered magical.

Um. I'm sorry if this is rude, but... aren't you quite young to be working for a police force?

Yes, I could technically be called a magical girl. And as for me being part of a police force at my age...I have a rather interesting past that is forcing me to be part of the force. Not that I don't like being part TSAB.

I'm sorry. It's just I used to watch shows about magical girls when I was younger. It's a little strange to meet a real example.

You probably get this a lot, but... is there some place to get information about magic? There are some things in my life that no one was quite able to figure out. I used to hear "it might as well be magic" a lot. I'd really like to see what actual magic looks like.

Actually, I have a wolf familiar named Arf and she is able to talk. She can also take a humanoid form. There are several mages out there that have familiars that can talk so the idea is anything but silly.

If you are looking for books on magic, I would suggest the library aboard the Asura, the ship of the TSAB. The only problem is that you are mostly likely going to need to get permission to go inside.

I'm not a pilot, no - I'm a Shifter. I can summon a suit of armour that lets me fly and fight. I gather there are a few people on board already with similar powers.

I would be one of those people with similar powers. I summon a suit of magical armor called a Barrier Jacket. I also can summon a weapon called a Device to fight with. My Device is named Bardiche. Bardiche also helps me use bigger spells which I normally can't use.

So that means you can use some spells without Bardiche? What sorts of things can you do?

All my powers come with my armour, you see - outside it I'm totally ordinary.

Well I can only cast certain small spells because I have extremely good control. Bigger spells need Bardiche because I don't have the reserves to cast them without him. The big spell that I can cast without Bardiche gives me the ability to fly.

Whoa, so you can fly even as you are now? That's the sort of thing I used to dream of, growing up.

I can fly naturally simply because I've been training as a mage my whole life and I have immense control.

Your whole life? Wow. I only found out I had powers a y- a few years ago. I can't imagine what it'd be like to grow up with them. Is that normal where you come from or did you start earlier than most?

It actually isn't normal to start learning magic as young as I did. I'm a bit of a special case. I didn't go to TSAB training facility, which is like a mage school, I was taught by my mother's familiar Linith.

I met Nanoha on Earth actually. She randomly became a mage by accident. Though you wouldn't be able to tell because of her natural skill.

As for my boss, that would be the person to talk to if you want into the library.
