Opening Phase (backdated to Fairy Park)
1.
[Late on the last evening before the Chalice departs from Fairy Park, a new face appears aboard - a pale, petite young woman with long red hair and the look of someone who isn't sure where they're supposed to be headed but doesn't want to admit it. It doesn't help that she appears to be steering around whatever concentrations of people exist at this hour, with the side effect of routing her away from most interesting locations. After a while of fruitless wandering on the Promenade, she gives up and hesitantly approaches the nearest person.]
Um, hello... I'm new aboard, and I need to see the captain, or whoever's in charge... do you know where I can find them?
Ah, I'm Laura, Laura Ericks. I'm here to join the crew, so I guess that means we'll be teammates - it's nice to meet you.
[Her left hand is tightly grasping a sealed envelope, while her right fidgets with a metal wristwatch on her left arm. Is this girl afraid of you, or just afraid of everything?
Laura's looking for the Captain - does she turn to you for help, or do you run in to her on her way there?]
2.
Hello... Dan?
[Laura pokes at the terminal uncertainly - she knows how to use a terminal, but not where a ship's AI might be found on one.]

Ah... what do you do on the ship, Miss Testarossa?
no subject
Also you can just call me Fate if you wish.
no subject
I've never heard of that organization. And... did you say a mage? Like, with magic?
no subject
Yes I am a mage. I cast spells to fight. Though a decent amount of my magic is based on a form of technology, it all comes from an innate ability found in people that is considered magical.
no subject
Um. I'm sorry if this is rude, but... aren't you quite young to be working for a police force?
Are you... a magical girl?

I'm sorry. It's just I used to watch shows about magical girls when I was younger. It's a little strange to meet a real example.
I don't suppose you have a talking animal sidekick... no, that'd be silly, never mind.
You probably get this a lot, but... is there some place to get information about magic? There are some things in my life that no one was quite able to figure out. I used to hear "it might as well be magic" a lot. I'd really like to see what actual magic looks like.

If you are looking for books on magic, I would suggest the library aboard the Asura, the ship of the TSAB. The only problem is that you are mostly likely going to need to get permission to go inside.
no subject
I think I'd definitely like to try getting that permission as soon as possible. This all sounds fascinating.

So what is it that you do? Are you a mecha pilot?
no subject
I'm not a pilot, no - I'm a Shifter. I can summon a suit of armour that lets me fly and fight. I gather there are a few people on board already with similar powers.

All my powers come with my armour, you see - outside it I'm totally ordinary.

Ah, I'm sorry to pepper you with questions like this! I should probably wait and see about getting in to that library - if I just keep asking you everything I'm curious about, I might not stop...
So I take it you're not the only mage aboard now?
no subject
Don't worry about asking me questions as I don't mind. I have learned so much about magic that it is kind of nice to be able to answer your questions.
No, I'm not the only mage on board. There is my boss, Chrono, and my best friend, Nanoha.
no subject
Oh, your boss - is she who I should talk to about that library?
And your best friend is a mage too? Did you meet at mage school?
Which House were you in?no subject
I met Nanoha on Earth actually. She randomly became a mage by accident. Though you wouldn't be able to tell because of her natural skill.
As for my boss, that would be the person to talk to if you want into the library.
no subject
Wow - so your friend was just an ordinary Earth girl who suddenly got magical powers from another dimension and turned out to be a natural? That must have been a pretty big shock.
Also I am crazy jealous.Wait... you were taught by a familiar? When you said... Arf?... could talk I assumed it was like a computer interface - are familiars smart, like people?
