Opening Phase (backdated to Fairy Park)
1.
[Late on the last evening before the Chalice departs from Fairy Park, a new face appears aboard - a pale, petite young woman with long red hair and the look of someone who isn't sure where they're supposed to be headed but doesn't want to admit it. It doesn't help that she appears to be steering around whatever concentrations of people exist at this hour, with the side effect of routing her away from most interesting locations. After a while of fruitless wandering on the Promenade, she gives up and hesitantly approaches the nearest person.]
Um, hello... I'm new aboard, and I need to see the captain, or whoever's in charge... do you know where I can find them?
Ah, I'm Laura, Laura Ericks. I'm here to join the crew, so I guess that means we'll be teammates - it's nice to meet you.
[Her left hand is tightly grasping a sealed envelope, while her right fidgets with a metal wristwatch on her left arm. Is this girl afraid of you, or just afraid of everything?
Laura's looking for the Captain - does she turn to you for help, or do you run in to her on her way there?]
2.
Hello... Dan?
[Laura pokes at the terminal uncertainly - she knows how to use a terminal, but not where a ship's AI might be found on one.]

Wh- I didn't know you were aboard! What have - I mean -
[Laura gives up and glomps Frank hard, burying her face against his front. You wouldn't think to look at her that she'd have the strength to make much impact on a trained soldier, but Frank may quickly find it difficult to breathe.]

Yes. A lot of other people from SECT are here too. Including her.

Laura, huh? Well, Laura, I'm Kamille Bidan, one of the Mobile Suit Pilots aboard the ship, and I look forward to working with you.
... Though I think you're better off not dealing with the Captain, the man's not in his right mind.
no subject
Not in his right mind-! What do you mean? Is there something wrong?

As per our OOC talk

[Devon just stares and says nothing. But you never saw her stand so ideally still and motionless before. Almost like if she was frozen in shock or something like that.]
Re: As per our OOC talk
...Hello, Devon. Ummm...
[Laura looks around the brig - it's not an environment conducive to polite small talk.]
...Are you doing okay?

[Laura jumps back a pace, not very gracefully, and takes a moment to regain her balance. Her grip on the watch on her wrist is white-knuckle tight.]
Ah - I'm sorry - I wasn't paying enough attention!

Are you part of the crew or part of the ship? Can you talk? I'm Laura. Do you have a name?

Do you want to see the captain, or do you want to see someone in charge? The answer will be different depending. [Samus is expressionlessly deadpan yet very obviously calm and peaceful, as usual]
no subject
[Huh. For all her intimidating deadpan it seems the straightforwardness of Samus' question has grounded Laura's nervousness a bit.]

I was supposed to talk to the captain, but everyone seemed to think I should talk to you instead. Er, to report aboard. Mr. Dantoinne should have been in touch already but I have this letter to confirm it. And if there's anything I need to know or watch out for...
