[Since rationing started aboard White Chalice, Devon has yet to pick up her daily allotment of food. She eats precious little anyway - but that's still more than nothing, and despite ignoring her ration it doesn't seem like she's starving. And this is because...]

1. [Tricky but NOT impossible to hack.]

[When few people are around, suddenly the door to the pantry opens and from the storage area leaves, who else but Devon. Wait, how did she get there? And considering she holds an apple, or perhaps a single bread roll in her hand, it's obvious that someone is ignoring the rationing rules and stealing food.

And worst of all, she doesn't look like she cares about it at all.]

[What is this! Devon's reaction is to grab Ayame's arm to prevent her from initiating unwanted physical contact. She's supernaturally quick with initiating this grapple, so normal humans can't really have much opportunity to react there.]

[Exactly what Ayame was counting on. A split second after she grabs Ayame she feels the familiar sensation of teleportation. But there shouldn't be any teleporters here! And then she ends up in a cell. Minus Ayame, and more importantly, minus her Sophium crystal.]

[Black Cloud just stands there, unmoving. Its color seems even more matted than usual.]

[But this quickly changes - without the amplifier's/Sophium crystal's power to maintain it, plates of armor fall off Devon's body one by one and crumble into quickly-dissolving black dust.

As for the Shifter herself, she continues to stand there, but her eyes are wide open in surprise.]

I told you we would take it from you. I wish it did not have to come to this, but rest assured. I will personally make sure your crystal does not come to harm. Dan is also aware of this, and he will help make certain it is kept as protected as we can.

[Devon is by the cell door immediately. She tries to shake it - doesn't budge. Trying to summon the Sophium armor back? A futile effort without the crystal, of course it fails. She can only stare outside.]

Words are empty. I have no need for them.

[Continues to try to pry the door open in silent effort. But without her superhuman strength, all she can do is tire herself out.]
