[Since rationing started aboard White Chalice, Devon has yet to pick up her daily allotment of food. She eats precious little anyway - but that's still more than nothing, and despite ignoring her ration it doesn't seem like she's starving. And this is because...]

1. [Tricky but NOT impossible to hack.]

[When few people are around, suddenly the door to the pantry opens and from the storage area leaves, who else but Devon. Wait, how did she get there? And considering she holds an apple, or perhaps a single bread roll in her hand, it's obvious that someone is ignoring the rationing rules and stealing food.

And worst of all, she doesn't look like she cares about it at all.]

This rationing is meaningless. With limited supplies, everyone should take only as much as they require - as much as they know they need, not how much is told them they need.

Do you think that everyone knows how much food they need exactly, or that they can control their urge to gobble up piles of it like gluttons? In a normal situation, people eat more food than they need, because exactly the amount you need to get going at full strength still leaves you feeling a bit peckish in the stomach.

Glad to see that you have the time to make sure nobody eats too much, but not everyone is so lucky. This rule exists so we would actually be able to do something else than quarrel about food all the time.

This is why humans should exist as singular entities rather than groups. Driven by their own individual morality and not law of the herd.

I'd rather listen to several reasonable rules, live in relative comfort and be able to use my abilities for good than sit alone in the ruins with a grumbling stomach because I refuse to be a part of society.
