Hey, look what I found when cleaning up Grandpa Barrel's old room at Nino Island! A lot of his unpublished logs and notes! He sure was a prolific digger in his youth. These are really invaluable for the field of archaeology! Not to mention worth a lot of cash!

Let's see... "Forbidden Island?" These must be the log of his first journey to the Forbidden Island. I wonder why he never published it.

And here... "Rock's Discovery?" Huh? Is this about my adoption? What a strange title. I think maybe Grandpa Barrel dug a little bit too much. Let's listen to it.



"Are you sure you don't want to listen to this in private or something, Rock?"



"Nah, what's the point. It's not like it's a dramatic secret or something."

*The recording starts to play*

"...Once, a long time ago, I went to the ruins on Nino Island to do some research on the civilization that preceded ours. The ruins there are very dangerous, and are normally sealed off. I snuck inside without the Guildmaster's permission. Just inside the entrance, I found a strange, diamond-shaped object. When I touched it, it fell apart--no, melted--and from inside there appeared a small child, a baby, and a monkey. Seeing as I had broken into the ruins without permission I couldn't reveal where I'd found them. So, I decided to raise the baby along with my granddaughter..."

*Rock turns off the recording.*

I wonder if I really should be that surprised...

About a year ago, I was involved in some sort of battle over an island named Kattelox with the Bonnes. And weird shit happened there, man.

It was pretty much my first big adventure.

I don't know myself! And I think my pet robot knows about it and more, but never told me anything.

But you know... You're still you, no? All people are different.

That's right. I'm me from the beginning. It's not like I lost my memory or something. I was found as a baby after all!

Yeah. You should totally check if you have some kind of special abilities you never heard about, though!

[Samus happens to pass nearby, her alien pet in tow and poking at the trashcans happily. She sort of looks at Rock silently for a moment before actually speaking.]

Oh, I just discovered that I might not actually be normal human being.

Well, you could look at me. I look like a perfectly normal human boy! But I just found out that I was found inside a crystal inside an ancient ruin as a baby with my pet monkey.

[Samus raises an eyebrow.]

You did at least realize he is mechanical as well, yes?

I guess so. But I didn't know that we're found together as a pair or something. And the worse part is... I think he knows about it and more, but never told me anything.

You should be talking to him, then.

That's the problem. Everytime I asked about it, he just talk in circles and riddles.

To be fair, there were hints.

Such as the fact that your physiology is only remotely similar?

But that is worrisome. If he only has your best interests at heart, he would have no reason to keep quiet now. I would regard him with distrust, were I in your position.

Do you have experience on things like this?

Not as such.

The idea of not knowing yourself is difficult to understand for me. All true knowledge begins in the self.

But if someone hides such important knowledge from you, they must have a powerful reason. Such things can be for your benefit, but rarely are.
