Questions and answers

[1]
[Felicita feels better now, so it's time to explore the Chalice! ... Not that she is going to suddenly leave the ward bed. Let's be realistic. Instead, she holds one of the precious few physical items she may call as her own - a tiny robotic probe.]

Go, drone!

[And, it flies away from her hands, controlled by a tablet also in her possession. Later, you may find the small thing exploring and being curious all over the White Chalice. You may or may not know already that it belongs to Felicita, and that she can talk through it.]

[Late at night - Felicita is fast asleep, snoring loudly and looking much happier than usual. But look, the drone is still active! Who might be controlling it?]

This is Colomba Arlotti.
DISCLAIMER: You are talking to a basic AI with a pre-recorded database and limited ability to learn. It is based on my personality and I gave it knowledge of all facts you will need.
White Chalice, I know you had questions. Questions regarding my daughter and the Deva project. Questions Orsini Industries considered classified.

They are classified no longer. Ask.

[Strange may be the AI's way of talking, but it definitely sounds like Felicita's mother - for those of you who heard her talk, at least. Now is the time to get answers some of you really hoped for!]

I'm not sure who set it up, but a few of us look after it now. It helps to have a place like this, in between the fighting. We can't count on having green spaces outside, depending where the ship goes.

The hospital didn't have a garden?

Ah. The drone's new, then?

Well, there's usually plenty to see, on board or where we travel. What kind of range does it get?

Are you settled in all right?

350 meters... hmmm.

[It look like Laura's pondering.]

The repairs are almost done. You should be good to go once the doctors say.

That first fight with it really put you through the wringer. How rough is your usual training?

So you can train every day? That's good. I wasn't sure how much recovery you needed. When I first came aboard, I had to be very careful how long I spent using my powers...

Do you still have milestones set up? I can talk to some people, if you'd like. See about finding new targets for you, get you ready for the kinds of fights we see here.

I see... that'll be tricky, but we'll figure something out. I suppose simulators won't be much help, with the way Deva's controls work...

And don't worry. There's no way to train for the really wild stuff. You just start with the basics and drill enough that you won't freeze up when the unexpected happens.

It depends on what kind of milestones your training so far covered. Someone like the Major can probably think of "basics" your mother wouldn't have imagined.

[There's a brief expression of remembered alarm on Laura's face as she recalls her first sessions with the 501st.]

And there's a lot you can do even when you're not in Deva, too. Studying strategy, tactics, procedures. Like... a mountain climber doesn't just climb training walls over and over. She learns about maps and equipment and geology...
