Hey guys, remember the recall point we found stored in this thing's computer? We're getting really close to it. I bet it's some kinda beastman base and that we could steal all kinds of cool stuff from them if we raided them!

Early in the morning before the Chalice reached the recall point, before the sun had even risen, Kamina stood, staring into the distance while eating his breakfast. Microwaved leftover meat of some kind. Somewhere over that ridge of hills was some kind of Beastman base, and Kamina was going there soon to raise some hell.

Just as he was finishing eating, one of the mountains in the distance exploded! A volcano, belching smoke and magma into the predawn sky! Kamina took a step back in surprise at first, but then he grinned.

"A whole mountain exploding with fire? I like it! The perfect scene for this fight!"

Oh, a volcano.

Figured. Why are they exploding like that?

No dude, like, they're seriously dangerous. You don't even have to come close to the red firey part to die horribly, and they spew poison gases like crazy. The usual strategy for dealing with a volcano is to be somewhere else.

Then we won't fight on the volcano itself, but you've gotta admit it's a pretty badass bit of scenery for the big fight against the Beastmen.

...Well, I suppose you've got a point there.

And standing at his side is Matthew, wearing a sleeveless version of his uniform and gazing towards the same horizon.

"They shall sing songs of this day, Demon Leader. The Clans and the freeborn, in Remembrance and rote song. The tale of "Kamina and the Brigade, and the Battle of the Beastman Mount!" They shall sing it long and loud, Quiaff?"

"'Kamina and the Great Gurren Brigade and the Battle of Beastman Mount', huh?"

Kamina looked thoughtful for a moment, before breaking into a grin. "I like it. We'll make it the first of a series."

[gurrenbrigbonded]

"Of an entire epic poem! With a televised adaptation like 'The Adventures of Clan Spaniel', or 'Starvengers'!" Matthew enthuses.

His grin fades into a more thoughtful expression. He looks up at the stars.

"You have been on the White Chalice for longer than I. Ryouma, Hayato, and the rest of the Getter team...what were they like to you?"

"Eh? Those guys? Well...I never really knew Hayato, but Ryouma was a cool guy. He got what being a man was all about!"

[gurrenbrigbonded]

"Aff." Matthew replies quietly.

"He soared off into legend, up above in the stars, beyond the infinite."

Matthew keeps starring up into the skies.

"Let us forge our own, new path, and surpass them! Together, you and me and Simon, as Trothkin! As Brigadiers! As friends!"

"You bet your ass we will! A thousand years from now, they'll still remember our names!"
