[A team was working through the night to fish Sora out of the remains of Desu Itsuki. She'd good and melted quite a bit of it, not to mention fused her cockpit shut, so it was a long and touchy process. After some time, they were rewarded with... a wave of heat, and a still-unconscious redhead in casual garb, her uniform having dispelled itself at point of impact. Anyone pulling Sora out of the wreck will note that she's quite warm, and a little pale. Of chief concern is the fact that she charged right into a localized burst of radiation... hopefully she's okay. In any event, she's not going anywhere under her own power, so ideally she ends up in the infirmary.]

[It's a day or three before Sora regains consciousness; even then, she's still in and out. Whatever happened to her, it messed her right up, and her medical chart nearby confirms it: internal bleeding, nerve damage, bruising everywhere, first- and second-degree burns... it's a laundry list that, taken together, suggests strongly that Sora is lucky to be alive. At least Kojima poisoning doesn't seem to be a factor, though there's a bottle of anti-radiation meds along with everything else. Should you be present while she's awake and whoever's tending her at the moment is either feeling generous or isn't around, she's got a bright smile, even if she's a little loopy from everything she's on to keep her functional.]
Hi! Welcome to my little corner of Hell.

[One might wonder where POTPOURRI is right now. One would be concerned, then, to note that Sora's Soul Perfume was damaged somewhat during all the commotion; along with that, the AI happens to serve as a black box, so there's significant analysis being done to figure out what exactly happened to her. So far, all anyone can figure out is that the damage reflection limiters kicked in just after the nick of time, saving her from some of the mental shock, but not nearly enough, resulting in the nervous system damage on her big board of pain.
In an effort to keep Sora from trying to do something stupid but otherwise totally in character for her, POTPOURRI is living in Sora's room while she is in the infirmary. This, of course, means he's panicking and doing about as much sulking as an AI is capable of, worried he'd severely injured his mistress in some irreparable fashion. Dissuade?]
((Note across the board: Sora's injuries are fairly grave, so she'll be stable but critical for some time yet. Also note that she hasn't seen or heard about Desu Itsuki being a molten pile of parts.))

(Letriel walks up with a file containing all of Sora's information.)
Quite the panic you caused. My office has been like a war zone since you were plopped in here.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I caused so much trouble. I don't know all of what happened to me, honestly... I just know I'm hurt pretty badly. I guess I'm going to be causing problems for you a bit longer; I apologize.
no subject
I see. Seems no one has had the guts to tell you the long and the short of it. Well, let me be brutally honest with you. You are lucky to only be this badly injured. Outside of the visible wounds such as your first and second degree burns and bruising, you suffered from internal bleeding and damage to your nervous system. But it could have been worse because if this special function of your suit called 'Damage Reflection' wasn't limited when it was you would have gone into mental shock and possibly even died. Now the big problem we have at the moment is the damage caused to your nervous system. Some of it will go away in time with proper medication, but other areas of the damage are severe enough that it is questionable if they will heal without a complicated surgery. Even then you will likely need some physical therapy and I'd also like to run a mental exam just in case. You humans don't take well to near death experiences after all. But even with the option of surgery... There are areas that may never heal. Shame really. If I had my old equipment I would be able to heal it all.
(Letriel shrugs a little as if to say 'But what are you going to do'.)

I see... Thank you for telling me all this. I don't think I would have figured it all out myself, let alone if one of my friends tried to explain. [She smiles sadly.] But it's not really a good assessment... is it? I mean, I'm not going to give up - there are people that depend on me, and someone I need to pay a debt to - but it's going to be rough. [Surgery? Never-healing wounds? Sheesh.]
I'm... not sure it was worth it. I mean, it made me feel better, and it's something I wanted to do, but... hmm.
[She catches that last bit, though, and perks up considerably.] Your old equipment?

You are only now second guessing your action? How stupid could you be? Of course this isn't worth whatever you were trying to do.
(The second Sora reacts to Letriel's words about her old equipment, Letriel holds her hand up to stop Sora's thought process in its' tracks. Letriel has her eyes closed with her usual uninterested look on her face but there is a slight sound of sadness in her voice that most would miss.)
Don't get your hopes up. My old equipment...It broke...A long time ago.

[She shakes her head.] Maybe not, but... my friends are the most important thing to me. I'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Even if he's not here now, Alexei is... was... someone I trusted. I wasn't going to let that damn Lynx say whatever he wanted. [Yes, she knows she's being stupid. No, she doesn't really care.]
[The redhead knows that tone.] I-I'm sorry. I guess I shouldn't have brought it up.

That isn't a very good excuse you know. You are getting mad for someone who isn't here and it nearly cost you your life. I don't know if you do this kind of thing on a regular basis but if you do, stop. You should watch your own damned hide. After all, the interesting thing about death is it doesn't just effect one person. For example, if you died in my infirmary, I wouldn't have heard the end of it from the punks you called friends.
It doesn't matter. It happened long ago. Now let's move on to the important subject. If you want to come close to being fully healed, we are going to have to open you up to heal certain parts of your nervous system. I probably could have done most of it by now. However, courtesy dictates that you accept. Truthfully, it doesn't matter to me what your choice is. It is all up to you.

It's part of that one doctor's oath I can't remember the name of just now. "First, do no harm," or something like that, and cutting me open could certainly be harmful if I didn't want it. But yes, I agree that sooner is probably better. [She sighs.] You know, I just woke up from being injured... oh, well. Nothing for it, I guess.
no subject
(Letriel smiles a little.)
Ah yes, that is an oath that human doctors take. However, I am a demon and thus I have taken no such oaths. That said, I am likely the best medic you have, so take it or leave it. In fact, I will have to be the one in charge of the surgery as few on this ship have experience in dealing with the nervous system. Let alone one as messed up as yours currently is.
Very well. I will get things ready. I will open you up as soon as possible.
no subject
I understand... well, I don't have much choice but to trust you; you're right, we don't have a whole lot in the way of competent medical staff here, and I want all my limbs working if I'm going back out there anytime soon.
[Sora gives one last resigned sigh.] Tell me what you need me to do.
no subject
For now, just heal. In your current state the operation is too risky. Once you have healed enough, we will drag you into the operating room.
no subject
Okay... I'll do my best. [She turns back to the medic with a serious expression.] I'm counting on you. I know I said a lot of things, but... I know this is a miracle in and of itself. I won't waste it.
no subject
You're going to need a lot of rest so I'm cutting down visiting hours for you until after you've had the surgery and rested from that. The last thing I need is one of the many imbeciles of this ship doing something to agitate you.
I have research to do so I'm off. I'll send someone in to change your bandages.
