Discovery #30 (with apologies to Roads)

1. [After the last fight, Werter can be seen where he left it - inside the mech-sized Prometheus in the middle of the village, keeping up the plasma field around it to stop the moisture from escaping while work is being done on a more permanent solution. He can't do anything for now but watch the workers, so needless to say, he's bored.]

Not all of a hero's work can be exciting, I guess. I wish I brought a book.


2. [After the town is protected again, Werter (and Prometheus as well) can be seen in an unused room on the Chalice where he tended to disappear over the last few weeks. Only it's not unused anymore, but filled with various lab equipment - stuff he already had, or traded, or borrowed. A lot of it is improvised, including pots and glasses taken from the ship's dining room, and the primitive computer used by Prometheus to communicate with humans can be seen in the corner. Werter looks over his work, including a note on the door:

WOLF* CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
Assistants welcome.
* - not to be mistaken with Clan Wolf]

Well, this is nowhere near close the level of the lab back at college, but it should be enough for my experiments. Just one last thing...

[Werter takes a white lab coat from a nearby rack and puts it on in one smooth gesture. So does Prometheus - yes, apparently someone made a tiny lab coat just for him. They stand next to each other, arms crossed with confidence.]

There. My vacations were long enough. Time for science.

I couldn't prolong my break from my studies any more, could I?

[Prometheus discreetely moves behind Werter's leg.]

Well said! There may be no break nor rest for a person of science - every day is an experiment, a new experience!

[Prometheus's movement does not escape Alessandra, who intently tracks him with her sights now.]

Seems like you have a new experiment on your mind already, princess.

Have we discerned the nature of sir Prometheus' constant regeneration yet?

Not yet. I suspect it's nanomachines, but that's only a hypothesis. Do you suggest we cut him and see how he regenerates the damage?

[Prometheus hides behind a small cupboard.]

[fermionprincess]

May we perhaps expand the demesne of his regenerative powers into something of a broader scope than just his own being? Think of the uses!

Easier said than done, though.

Hmm... Maybe if we attached the object to him, so his system would consider it a part of his own being...

We may never know, unless we try!

[Yeah, Prometheus had enough of this. Time to hide out of sight until they forget about this topic!]

Let us procure some scotch tape... are we any close to Scotland at the moment? I suppose not...

Why not use sellotape instead, then? I'm sure someone would be willing to sell it to you.

As comrades, they should be willing to provide it cost-free.
