3x → VI

[ Char can be found in the hangar... again... this time looking at the RX-78-2 Gundam. While his Zeong was at the far end of the hangar, Char was leaning over the rail, his arms folded over one another, looking at the White Devil. The machine that had killed so many of his comrades in the Principality of Zeon, and had taken Lalah from him. It could also likely be blamed for the familial divide between him and Artesia.

Char wasn't sure what to make of Amuro being onboard. He would likely never forgive him for killing Lalah, but it was inevitable that they would be meeting again. The Red Comet exhaled roughly through his nose, turning away from the machine, and started for the door. Someone would likely bump into him as he tried to leave. ]

Sir Char!

[A loud voice calls to Char. Predictably, there's Alessandra, waving.]

It looks like deep thoughts cloud your mind again. First you stare at space and now at the machines!

I have been educated in the basics, but all the details I know only courtesy of a veteran and his tales of experience. Namely, yours.

Oh...

I would never imagine it would carry such a heavy burden, just from looking at its exterior. But then, a machine of conflict is used to spill blood. It's inevitable.

The robot's pilot should be on board as well, I take it.

I... am aware that it is easy to say such things. However...

I believe you should forgive him. Or at least, do not hold a grudge. The painful history of years past cannot be changed anyway.

[Alessandra takes it rather well, actually. She's pretty calm, almost serene.]

I see. No, I do not suggest that you ever forget about this.

The One Year War... left scars on all its survivors, did it not.

Wrong account missfire!

[Where the Gundam was, Amuro wasn't too far behind. ...But you probably already felt that, didn't you char. Can you feel the newtype senses glaring at you from across the catwalk?]

[identity profile] newtypeamuro.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
So you're saying that this is 'fate'?

[identity profile] newtypeamuro.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
I can accept that we'd both be drawn to this ship, if that's what you mean.

[And Amuro simply frowns.]

For now, anyway.

[identity profile] newtypeamuro.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm sure you're aware by now that I'm no longer with the Federation.

[identity profile] newtypeamuro.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I get what you're saying. There's no reason for us to fight right now... But that doesn't mean I'm ready to trust you.

I don't intend to shoot you from behind, and for now, I'll assume the same is true for you.

[Completely by coincidence, PRIME is doing much the same thing as the Red Comet. Staring at the RX-78.]

...So then, this is the original, isn't it? Every unit with the name "Gundam" is based off of this guy?

Doesn't look so threatening to me. Could this suit really be the "White Devil" of the One Year War?

[identity profile] aprimeanswer.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
An impressive track record, to be sure...but wasn't most of that due to it's pilot? That kid...Amuro, was it?

[identity profile] aprimeanswer.livejournal.com 2011-08-13 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Prime nods.]

From the basic RX-78, we've got the Mk-II, the Crossbone Vanguard units, and the Exia. Those Astray units look similar, too...

That aside, the design of a Gundam lacks the raw power of the large "super" types, and it's not nearly as mobile as a NEXT or one of the Witches. I can appreciate it's track record, but why continue to build them when better technology is available?

[identity profile] aprimeanswer.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
The same reason why most anti-feddie factions continue to use suits with mono-eyes and heat hawks, then...

I understand entirely. Personally, I have trouble feeling comfortable in any mech that isn't painted my personal colors.
