[After the sickbay is more or less devoid of other patients, or at least he presumes so, Ryo finally checks himself in following the battle.  The TSX got by without damage, but Ryo himself is a different story and he pulls up a seat before grabbing a nearby hand-mirror and taking a look at his face.  His eyes have been feeling a little achey and...

[Oh.  Although it's faint, several flecks of carmine are visible in his irises.]

... So it's finally happening, isn't it?

I should see is Loraine has some cosmetic contact lenses lying around.

[She looks over, still playing her wistfully jolly little tune, studying him for perhaps 20 seconds before she makes eye contact, and then strikes a discordant note with a stumble and freezing of her hands.]

[She stood up] How do you feel?

[Ryo winced at that note. Something that could give Loraine actual pause like that did nothing to help the situation, and he shuffled slightly.]

It feels like there's a slight pressure, around and behind my eyes. Other than that, I can't really say I feel any different.

I suppose, now that you think of it, this is what I want to do.

The Fafners need to be completed. The TSX is sufficing for now, but it's yet to encounter a Festum yet, and it'll be found wanting when the time finally comes for it.

And, well now that I'm really putting thought into things... I'd like to see the island one more time.

I suppose that's one way of putting it, isn't it? But then again, nothing that much has been that much of a pressing issue for me. I was more or less roped into the position of class president at Tatsumiya Island and Yume was the one who did all the really challenging things.

But the Festum... they're something else. There's other aliens that have been harassing us but those things are something else. It's been thirty years since Japan's destruction and nobody managed to come up with any solution for them until just recently. And thirty years is a long time; and with all the developments with mobile suits and Getter Rays and everything else... it feels we're no closer to finding a solution to stopping him.

... And, I guess that's why. That's why this is something I take so seriously.
