10th Striker Unit/Putting on a Brave Face
1) I did my best...I really did, and it wasn't enough...!
There's nothing else you could have done. Yoshika, it's not your fault.
(If you come by at just the right moment, you might find Yoshika in the brig-specifically, in the cell once occupied by Laura Ericks.
And she'll be crying openly, quiet responses of 'I should've been there! I could've saved her...I could've stopped her...!' being repeated over and over while running most of her last conversation with Laura back through her mind.)
Yoshika, you're not like me. You haven't made my mistakes. You won't. Don't do this to yourself.
(If you stop by and she hears you, she'll quickly wipe her tears away and force a smile on; yes, she does have a broom nearby and plans to use it as a cover story.)
...I'm here for you, too...
...I know. Believe me... it helps.
(At the moment however, she's sniffling and crying and not even paying attention to the intercom which has come on for some important news: For Sergeant Yoshika Miyafuji: your mother has arrived onboard. Sergeant Yoshika Miyafuji...)
2) (Yoshika eventually heard the surprising and welcome news, and found her Mom waiting for her on the deck. Mothers, having a knack for sensing certain things, saw past Yoshika's brave face after the hug she gave her...and Yoshika caved.)
I...I can't do this anymore, Mama. If all I can do is sit back and watch my friends die...feeling helpless as the people I care about leave me, then I wanna go home!
Yoshika...you've seen many more things than I could ever have hoped to witness in one lifetime, and while I'm sorry for the friends you've lost, is this really how you want your journey to end?
...B-but...
It's hard and it's painful, but this is part of life. Your father understood that as well.
(Ding! Yoshika suddenly recalls something Laura said not too long ago...which she repeats to her Mom.)
...All I can do now is remember them, and keep going.
That's my girl. Now, even though I can't stay too long I would like to meet your friends. Especially the one who you went on and on about-her name was Lynne?
...Ehhhhh?!!
(OOC: Yes I am pulling a Zappa, and for this one post will be NPCing Yoshika's mother! Those who want to embarrass Yoshika, go ahead-but be careful. She's still grieving.)

2) OH DEAR GOD WHY
Well hello there ma'am.
Anything I can do to help?
[Internally, Luger's brain process is screaming "MILF!MILF!MILF!MILF!" at the mental volume his neurons can allow.]
You wanted an angry Yoshika, not a crying one=is that your final answer?
(And heeeeeere comes Yoshika, eyes narrowed as she puts herself in between Mom and Luger. No she doesn't get that reference, but she feels weird vibes all around which has her on defense.)
No, thanks! We're both fine.
(A moment of hesitation, and then she bows before reassuming the position.)
Angry of course, But I'm planning on sending it into completely horrified/confused.
It's fine, I'm actually used to being treated like this.
[The space german politely offers his had to Mrs Miyafuji.]
Luger Amwulf. A pleasure to meet one of my crew-mate's parents.
[What is this? Genteel decorum? No eyeballing of the body? No raunchy pickup lines? DID YOSHIKA WALK INTO THE TWILIGHT ZONE?!]
no subject
Ehhhh?! Mom, only girls are qualified to be Witches!
(Yoshika forgets-did Sakamoto request for her to heal him, or was it someone else? Either way, she might forget a little bit longer...)
no subject
Nah I think I'm the wrong gender and a little too old for that.
I'm a Mobile Suit pilot. Formerly a member of Waechter Colony's militia.
I was lucky that people here were willing to pick up a stray like me. I'm guessing you've got some military running in your veins ma'am?
no subject
Eh-heh...Mama, I don't mention it to everyone!
no subject
[A little white lie...well. A HUGE one.]
Guess there's a lot being passed down in the family. Magic, brains, skills.
[He chuckles.]
And she's probably going to turn a lot of heads with you as a good example.
no subject
Mooom...!
(Yoshika might've been dealing with grieving issues, but she wasn't that upset not to see something wasn't right with Luger. People changed, but after 24 hours?)
no subject
[He looks to a rather scuffed up watch on his hand and gives Mrs Miyafuji an apologetic grin.]
I'd love to stay and chat but I need to head down to the infirmary. It was great to meet you.
[He offers his hand.]
no subject
Eh-heh... (Yes the hand was accepted, followed by a bow from mother and-somewhat reluctantly-daughter, who's pretty sure she's run into him two, maybe three times during her stay on the Chalice.
Oh, and she's understandably embarrassed, confused and freaked out.)
no subject
No trouble at all Ma'am. No trouble at all.
[And inside Luger is grinning like the madman he is.]
