First Note | The Ace Appears

(You here a mecha landing in the hangar and decide to investigate. You soon see a new mecha, specifically a new Desu unit in the hangar. However this Desu unit is quite different from the Claimer class units. The cockpit opens to reveal a woman in her late 20s. She jumps down with unusual grace and ease before turning to see you.)

My name is Seiren Kurokawa, pilot of the Desu Ellen. I would like to speak to the one in charge.

(Seiren is walking around the Chalice. She isn't looking for anything in particular, she is just trying to get familiar with the lay out of the Chalice. Bother?)

[Hana's still working on transferring things when she spots the newcomer, causing her to jump in surprise.]

A-Another Desu pilot?!

(Seiren looks at the unit Hana is working on and easily recognizes it as Desu Blanc. Seiren looks back at Hana and sees CHYPrE floating around her.)

You must be a PreDesu if you have an AI with you...Strange, I do not recognize you. Might you be a new PreDesu?

Ah... y-yes I am... well... I guess I am, since Eri and Sora were around before I was...

I'm Nanohana Himesaki, pilot of the Desu Tsubomi and current user of the Desu Blanc.

Ah, you know Kurumu and Myoudouin.

Himesaki? Might you be related to Professor Himesaki then? Is that how you got a Desu unit?

[Sora does indeed wonder why there's a new mecha, and goes to see what's going on... and freezes.]

Seiren...!? Did the Professor get my letter already, then? Or did something else happen?

Ah, y-yes, I am related to her. She's my grandmother... but just because we're related isn't why I'm a PreDesu pilot! Pine and Apple chose me, too!

Oh, Myoudouin. It has been...nine days hasn't it? And I know nothing of this letter. I was sent here as we have gotten word of the capture of Eri Kurumu. I was sent here by Professor Himesaki to aid in rescuing her.

Ah of course. Now I was sent here as we have been informed of the capture of Eri Kurumu. What can you tell me about how she was captured?

Adventus attacked. They ambushed us and one of their generals broke inside. He ended up unleashing a set of robots that captured her and a number of others.

...she got captured defending the captain.

(Seiren takes a moment to process all of the information that Hana has given her.)

I see. A sneak attack. Tell me, where were you and Myoudouin during the attack? Was anyone else aiding Kurumu?

Sora... Sora aided in trying to stop the man who broke inside.

[she hung her head.]

I panicked and hid.

(Silence.)

You...WHAT?! An enemy general was attacking from within the ship and capturing the members of the Chalice and you hid?! To say that I am disappointed in you is an understatement! You should feel lucky that I don't strip you of your rights to be a PreDesu!

[Hana cowers back, shaking, trying not to cry.]

I panicked, I admit it. And saying I'm sorry won't fix things, I know it...

Nine days... has it really been that long? It doesn't feel like it.

I suppose I should offer my report... [Sora's tone is a bit flat, like she's trying not to think about what she's saying.] Adventus generals assaulted the White Chalice. We were attacked, and we were unable to suppress a powerful boarder. The boarder was able to subdue and kidnap several combatants, keeping us occupied while automated units roamed the ship and kidnapped additional personnel. Eri was taken while protecting the bridge.

[Alexei is in the hallway. He heard the announcement of a third, and now a fourth PreDesu pilot. More kids to look after...]

I won't strip you of your rights for only two reasons. One, right now we have an ally that is held by the enemy and we need all the aid possible. Two, if you are really the pilot of the Desu Tsubomi then you are the first person that it has moved for and as such can't be easily replaced. I personally am dissatisfied with its' choice in pilot.

[minorbeat]

(Seiren closes her eyes as she goes over all the information that Sora.)

I see. I assume you were attempting to repel the boarder? If so, what can you tell me about the boarder?

[now she's trying to control her trembling.]

Fourth? I know of Kurumu and Myoudouin. I assume that the other is the one who piloted the Desu Tsubomi during the attack on Fairy Park. Where might I find her?

[minorbeat]

...I will devise a suitable punishment for you after we have rescued Kurumu. However, after the battle you will serve a very severe punishment for your incompetence. Do I make myself clear, Himesaki?

Yes, I was part of the team repelling the boarder... I was totally overpowered and outmatched. He wielded a sword that was charged with electricity, and he was able to teleport in an instant across the deck. I'm... not entirely certain he was human. I know we were able to disable an arm before he left. [She's still kind of listless. Seiren can probably tell she's depressed at her poor performance.]

That is correct. Eri, currently MIA. Unfortunately, she's become a prisoner of our enemy. Plans are being made to return her and everyone else captured to the Chalice.

(Seiren huffs a little still obviously angry at Hana.)

At least you know how to address a superior officer. Now what can you tell me about the attackers?
