I watch the ripples change their size, but never leave the stream

It was strange that things should be so calm lately. At least, there where no armed interventions to handle, or wars to stop at the moment.
Around lunchtime, at one of the tables in the mess hall Lockon was stripping down a rifle for cleaning, while Haro rolled around on the floor like a child's toy.
The purpose of the location had been three fold: Firstly he had wanted lunch, also the tables where big enough to lay out everything he needed for the job, and lastly, it was the perfect place to watch, and listen.
So mind your conversation kids, you might be overheard.

"Do you ever even use that rifle, Lockon?" the young pilot grumbles before settling his face into his arms with a long sigh. "And why does Miss Sumeragi insist on sending a familiar face only after I've been sent off to run recon for the Ptolemios?"
no subject
"Mostly at the range, but it never hurts to keep your tools in good condition." He smirked as his friend sat down. "Hey there stranger. It's been a while."

"And a month Setsuna and I have been hanging around waiting for you." He set side his work with a warm grin. "It's good to be back together though. Maybe we can finally get to work. I can only clean my gun so many time, ya know?"
"" Haro sang as he bounced up and down on the table before Allelujah.
That Icon <3
The pilot didn't seem too miffed by the situation, truth be told: it's safe to assume that not finding anyone was a relief of sorts, given that it meant no killing. He laid his hand on the bouncing Haro with a small chuckle. "Missed you too, Haro."
no subject
"It's alright. It's just pretty boring with out Setsuna to talk to. Well and Haro, but he get's a bit repetitive after a while." Lockon chuckled a little. "Well at least we can relax a little, knowing our backdoor is safe."
Haro flapped his ears and blinked his eyes happily at Allelujah, whisteling and singing.
""

He lightly patted the head of the Haro, smiling. "You have such an interesting companion, Lockon."
no subject
"I always wonder if they programmed him that way. He's got quite an emotional range for a computer." Without Haro Lockon wouldn't be able to do half the things he could in battle, Haro was part of him, and at the same time, and extension of his self.
"All Setsuna wants to talk about is Gundam. No surprise there really. And Hixar, but I'm still not sure about him. Either way, I'm glad you're back! I didn't realize how boring things where without you around." He sat back, relaxed, laughing softly, and smiling easily. It was good to get to talk to someone.

After a slight pause, a small chuckle escapes him. "It's nice that you got assigned to the Chalice... I've been missing your company."
no subject
"Yes. He assures me we're on the same teams, and that our secrets are not part of the information he is privy to. But he still kind of rubs me the wrong way, so be careful around him." Lockon leaned in a little, bowing his head to speak softly, in case the blond man and his awful coat where hanging around somewhere near by (like in the next thread down).
"But you must be worn out, having just gotten back. Do you have to debrief or are you finished with that already?" Lockon put a hand on Allelujah's helmet, with a smirk.
"Do you have a spare uniform here, or should we go back to the Ptolemy."
no subject
"I debriefed with Miss Sumeragi and Ian before I returned to the Chalice, but I completely forgot about my uniforms... And it looks like they cleared out my room when I vanished, so all my spare clothes were moved back to the Ptolemy," he sighs, but doesn't seem 'too' put out. It might have something to do with the way Lockon had suggested going back to the Ptolemy. Company was a wonderful thing for the man right now.
no subject
"Well then," Lockong put his rifle into a bag, and zipped it up, before slinging it over his shoulder.
"Sounds like it's time to go home." He got his feet carefully, as Haro bounced down to the floor, twirling about, and flapping his head.
""
"You said it my friend."

"Are you certain you want to be doing that in the mess hall? There's quite a few children working in the kitchen." Children that knew how to operate firearms as well. "It would be terrible for someone to lose one of the pieces."
And look... NO RED HARO AROUND!
no subject
"Don't worry, no ammo or clips. Left it locked up for that very reason. And anyways," Lockon paused in his cleaning, and regarded the flamboyant man with and easy smile. "This is a military vessel isn't it? Guns are just part of the package." He held the now clear barrel up to his eyes and looked down it, at Hixar.
no subject
Hixar met his gaze through the barrel. "Now now, it's not nice to point." he said with a blatant chuckle.
no subject
It was time likes this Lockon wished he had just staid on the Ptolemios.
"Don't worry, I'll play nice." Irritated sarcasm dripped from his words. What was it about this guy?
Happy with the cleanliness of his weapon, he was ready to start reassembling it, and just to show off, he reached down and picked up Haro first, setting him on the table.
"Ready Haro?"
It was a devious smirk he shot at Hixar as Haro counted down.
""
When Haro said 'go' Lockon's hands took off like a whirlwind. It took about 90 seconds before the rifle was reassembled, and Lockon was dusting off his hands.
no subject
Maybe he just didn't like people who knew everything. "If I can be frank, I get this feeling you're... tense around me. I realize my... social approach isn't the best but... it's hard to be friendly and tiptoe around certain... things." Hixar was tempted to tap Lockon's Haro in place of his own... Habit is all, but, he stops himself.
no subject
"Don't take it personally. I just can't trust you until I know you're worth trusting. And if I can't trust you, then there really isn't any reason to be friends is there?" His eyes where trained hard on Hixar. "If you're half as smart as you let on, you know what I'm saying."
Lockon didn't fail to notice the way Hixar nearly touched his Haro, and to make a point, he scooped the little robot up and rested him in his lap. Lockon didn't want Hixar to touch his friends, including Haro, until he knew for certain what his deal was.
no subject
"I see. Well... I'm sure things would be easier when the right time comes, but, until then..." He had to stop and think for a bit. He didn't need to earn his trust, but, it would make him feel a bit better.
"My first job is to support Celestial Being. My second is to gather information. I don't suspect that will make you trust me, but it should clear up a few things."
no subject
"It took you over a month just to tell me where on the same side?" Lockon stared daggers at Hixar, this made hi even less pleased. He understood that being in Celestial Being meant they all had to be more secretive, they each had much to hide after all. Maybe Lockon was being to harsh to Hixar.
Much as one would mindless pat a cat, Lockon stroked the cold metal dome of Haro's head.
"If information is your job then I guess you already know about all of us then don't you?"
no subject
He doesn't. He has other social links to maintain.
"And about that. I only know what... that computer lets me access. I have... simple files on you. A name, specialty, information on your unit. I can't access your backgrounds. And if you took a look, you couldn't access mine.
They've considered this ship to be... a blank spot. They'd like to have more information."
no subject
That actually made him feel better, his hand paused in it's strange petting, and he set Haro on the floor.
"I thought it was strange they would send us here at all, but if that's the case then it might explain a few things." Hixar could be lying, he could know everything, or he could be telling the truth. Lockon was going to have give him the benefit of being some Celestial Being. He rarely understood half the things they did, but he did trust them.
His harsh look of displeasure softened slightly. Secrets where not in jeopardy of being exposed, Hixar was on the same team as the rest of the meisters. If anything Lockon should be doing what he can to help, though the idea wasn't to alluring.
"I still don't trust you," he pointed at Hixar now with a gloved hand. "but it appears my gut was wrong this time." That was all the apology he was going to give.
no subject
It was a good enough apology. It was on him to get Lockon to trust him... but the tension had been dispelled at least. And he still hadn't revealed where he'd really come from. So, he was within parameters still.
"And just who did you think I was before?"
no subject
"Much less a who, and much more a what." Lockon sat back a little bit in his chair, leaving the rifle laying on the table before him.
"But I'm still not sure if you are or you aren't, so I won't tell you what the aforementioned 'what' is, at least, until I'm certain either way. But don't worry, my opinion isn't based on any data bank."
Which is to say he planned to formulate his own, instead of relying on the words of others.
no subject
"I suppose that's understandable. I am acting as one, in a way. Though, the data I collect is completely safe. And the way this ship travels, you get to meet all kinds of people. I'm sure you've found something good in that too?"
no subject
He thought of sweet Mikki, and that tight little ass swinging about.... Thank goodness looking wasn't a crime.
"I can think of a few things they've got that we don't." He nodded a little, laughing to himself softly. "but this ship is also a hotbed for trouble. at least once a week there is a battle. This all seems to contrary to what we do."
no subject
Really, trouble seemed to come to them, so, it made a rather convenient... post to sit and wait.
no subject
"It is that." Again Lockon had to agree. But then, this is why he was a Gundam Meister, and Ms. Sumaragi handled making those kinds of decisions.
"So many of the pilots here are just kids too. I mean, a majority of them are younger than Setsuna. Don't you think that's weird?" Lockon put his elbow on the table, and leaned his chin into his hand.
no subject
All of this was just bringing up data on the suits themselves... at least those that had public data.
no subject
"'Inspired' by? I wish fighting wars wasn't so fashionable. People should be 'inspired' to go home, and create peace, not to become soldiers. Have you even see so many little girls with weapons as you have on this ship." He looked away and across the mess hall, at the others who where spread about here and there.
no subject
Yes, and even in the kitchen, there was one girl without pants who wanted to protect others, and held a gun almost as big as her.
