Ninth Light
[In the wake of the most recent mission, you'll find a disheartening sight if you enter the hangar. The HK-1138' Corona lies in a crumpled, ruined heap off in a side designated for unsalvagable wrecks, the entire machine nearly split in twain height-wise, a huge chunk of it just fucking gone. Those parts from before? Yeah, phoney. All of them. Danconias-Phillips imitation parts and completely incompatible. You didn't actually think they'd HELP Julia, did you?]
Come on... move... move!
[And elsewhere in the hangar, Julia has been trying as hard as she can to use other machines. Knightmare Frames. Mobile Suits. Everything and anything that currently isn't claimed by someone else just so no stone was unturned. But it's all for naught. Her hands fly wildly and clumsily at the controls. It takes all of her willpower and focus to just a machine to stumble awkwardly forward, and all too often her machine stumbles and falls. And finally after one failure too many...
[Well, everyone has a breaking point and Julia's just hit hers.]
I can't...
I can't pilot anymore...

[Have Cheng rush over, ignoring what pains were still in his body despite having gotten back on his feet. Emergency catch. There was one around somewhere...there. To say the soldier was shaken to see the Irgelion like this was understatement. He knew that expression. He's had it far too many times.]
Its alright...
[He extends his hand into the cockpit, reaching out for her.]
Please...

[She just sniffs loudly.]
R-remember when I talked, about how humans could grow past limitations...?
[Another sniff as she tried to wipe her tears away. There was so much, though, and her eyes were red and puffy.]
T-this is what separates humans and Irgelions. If I were human this wouldn't be any obstacle at all...

Don't. To think like that is to accept defeat.
[He closed his eyes, Cheng was quashing the instinct to hunt down and do his best to break every bone in Shu Shirakawa's body. It wouldn't be of any benefit to the Chalice and they would be even worse off. And he probably wouldn't have succeeded anyway. When he opened them again he did his best to reassure her.]
You can... you will fight again. I am sure of it. Obstacles are made to be fought past. To make you stronger. Better.
[He paused. When he spoke again... he almost felt like it was his father's voice speaking the words rather than his own. Words that felt so hollow to him but seemed to resound when Julia had spoken to him last.]
Every fall that happens, happens for a reason. Every wound you survive is a path to your own victory.
Humans and Irgelions have different obstacles. We only need to seek the means to get you through yours. You helped me get back on my feet as a soldier Julia.
Allow me to help you onto the path of becoming one yourself.
FIRST TIME THIS LOG I'VE HAD TO USE A DIFFERENT ICON
[She gulped weakly.]
But I can't... I'd be one that doesn't have a weapon, can't have a weapon. Nothing would change...
No... it'd be impossible. And a waste of your time too.
LOL
[He looks at Julia. His face stern and his eyes full of conviction.]
Julia. Nothing is impossible. If it were don't you think many of the men and women on this ship would have died long ago if it were?
It would not be a waste of my time. Because I would be helping you do what is needed.

...
Maybe...
... In time, Cheng.
