War in the Pocket
[Action]
[At the end of the mission, Chris found herself facing off against one of the Zeon pilots from Freetown - Bernie. Gato's wingmen had done terrifying damage to her hometown and killed hundreds of people, and she's really having trouble reconciling that with the nice guy she met. Regardless, though, he's here, and technically her prisoner. Technically.]
[Chris and Bernie arrive back aboard the Chalice ahead of what's left of her Gundam and his Zaku, and she rather quickly takes him to one of the more secluded areas. She needs some answers.]
So, Bernie...explain.
((Post intended for Bernie Wiseman, but other people can interrupt if they wish.))

...
[Well, Bernie was alive. He was strangely healed from his wounds, he apparently destroyed the gundam, and was standing right before its pilot - the pretty girl he met in Freetown, the place he and his team attacked and indiscriminately wrecked. Bernie bowed his head, he had trouble looking at her. Would both see this through a Feddie vs Zeon perspective? ]
Chris, I'm...
I didn't know.

You spent time in Freetown, right? You knew people there?
1/2
[Bernie pauses a bit. Should he tell the truth. No matter what, she was a Feddie. Would he get into trouble?]
Yeah, I was in Freetown.
2/2
I was there to help. Help Zeon in the attack.
no subject
Why? I don't mean your objective, but...there were innocent people in Freetown. Civilians who had nothing to to with the Federation or the Gundam Project or anything, and you guys attacked anyway. I just...I want to know how you could do that. Before I have to decide what to do with you.

It's not like we're monsters. We had a duty.
It's just an unfortunate thing that happened.

Zeon and the Federation battle, there are missions, and there are causalities.

I could. I could blame you for everything, but what's the point? Hating you isn't going to make me a better pilot, or stop Gato, or bring anyone back to life.
Do you hate me? I must have killed someone you knew, too.

[His answer was delayed. He saw Mikhail die before his eyes in FreeTown. The rest of Cyclops were gone too]
..you did what you had to, Chris. You thought what you did was right.

*sigh* I'm saying too much. Regardless of how we feel, I'm gonna have to say you're the Federation's prisoner. You're a pilot, and we're not the Titans, so you'll be treated pretty well--
((Want to move down to the thread with Char?))
Taking you up on that 'interrupt' offer...
[ Char interrupts them well after their heart-to-heart going on above is finished. It has been almost two weeks from his surgery, and he is being encouraged to do some very light walking to strengthen his legs, so now his wheelchair is equipped with a cane. Char stumbles on over, leaning on the cane mostly for support, his wheelchair left around a corner. His legs are still rather weak from the atrophy. ]
I had thought I should find you, Mr. Wiseman, before Lady Karn does.

We should probably all talk together, since Bernie here's technically a POW.
? ! [Time: 99.00]
Re: ? ! [Time: 99.00]
[ Turning to Bernie again. ]
I'm here because you're young and impressionable, and I really can't hold it against you for being suckered into Delaz's games. However, I'm much more forgiving than Haman Karn or the Council of Admirals. I'm giving you a chance to save yourself from the firing squad, so I suggest you listen closely.

Re: ? ! [Time: 99.00]
Uh...yes..yessir!

Mr. Wiseman, you're looking at charges of conspiracy to commit treason, an unauthorized assault on an enemy base, jeopardizing an ongoing military operation, aiding and abetting traitors, and accessory to the attempted murder of a friendly officer. But if you're willing to give us everything you know about Delaz's operations - encryption codes, plans, the size of his fleet, which units he has under his command, and who is helping him - I will personally recommend to Mineva Lao Zabi that she drop the charges against you and let you off with a simple demotion.

Bernie, I'd say you don't have to listen, but Gato and Delaz really are putting a lot of people on both sides in danger for no reason. If you help us find them, I think it'll help both sides protect people.

"I concur with Char. I'm sure this arrangements can be worked out favorably for you." Though I'd like to see you hang.
Haman's cold voice called out, as she approached quickly, her high heels clicking on the floor. Her pokerface was on, a deathly sort of calm, the kind that came before a mighty storm.
OH LAWD!
It's..that serious?

[Bernie was just shocked. He stood before one of the Big Fish, and was told that he was committing treason for following the will of Zeon[
I..I don't understand, C-Captain. Treason? But the Federation...!
no subject
[ Char sighs. He knows how harsh he sounds. ]
But something good can come of this. All you need to do is tell us what you know.
1/2
[He is thoughtful. Bernie wanted to understand this fully. There is a little doubt, since he was captured as an enemy soldier after all. But so far, Chris has been nice to him. And right before him was also Char AND Haman]
2/2
[Not a good name. Those guys were the worse of the Federation. Also, Delaz carried the flame of hatred of Zeon, a ghost of the One Year War. Would there be any future regrets if he went along with this? ]
(Mikhail...Captain...)
I do...I do want to make up for what happened!

Aiguille Delaz is not a hero. Thanks to his actions, what was going to be a series of blitzkrieg strikes against key Titan positions in rapid succession is going to become a very long and very costly war, resulting in massive Zeon casualties.
[ But then, all of a sudden, his expression softens. ]
Regardless, Mr. Wiseman, I know you have many friends still in the Delaz fleet. And that's why I'm going to give you a chance to think about this for a while. Though, if it helps... the more we know about them, the more likely it is we can get rid of Delaz and Gato, and then hopefully, they can peacefully surrender.
1/2
That's hard to say. Commander Anavel Gato is one of Zeon's best pilots. It's like he carries Zeon's angry ambition from the past. I don't think he and Admiral Delaz will surrender that easily.
2/2
I will think about this.
