[A chef knows how to work when there is little food. Many pieces of cuisine (and the "screwdriver" drink) come from the need of providing a person with nutrition, such as turning an unappetizing clam into a tasty chowder with potatoes, carrots, onion, celery, and cream.

So what happens in one particular day after the rationing crisis at the Chalice is over? One of the cook is filled with glee, and readies almost a buffet for the crew to snack on, welcoming anyone to help her in this endeavour.

[Ren gave her a skeptical look. He could use the power of mirrors and cards to transform into a masked knight that fought alongside a giant bat against monsters from inside the mirror (created from a child's drawings, mind you) and other masked warriors, he'd been friends with a girl who had died twelve years before he met her and was living thanks to borrowing the life force of her mirror image, he'd known another warrior who claimed to be able to see the future, and everything that had happened to him in that timeline had been completely rewritten by someone with control over time, urged by the young woman who'd died as a little girl to let him and everyone else have a happy ending.

But magic. This was the thing he couldn't bring himself to believe.]
