More questions, more answers(?)

It's understandable that after the Kairos Aspida operation, some of you might want to have questions for Ayame. Or, as her sister called her, Anna.

You can find the XO not at the bridge, or her room - but in a bar. Where she is looking glum and drinking, really heavily.

"Fuck it."

She stands up and leaves, her steps shaky and unsteady. So much for questions, huh?


"Can I help you with anything?"

If you try to follow her, you get stopped by Dan. Maybe he at least knows something. Anything.

Matthew stops in his tracks, lowering a hand stretched out towards the departing Ayame.

"Aff, I hope so." He says quietly. He stares at the ground for a moment, then looks up.

"Ayame...and her sister: what happened between them?" He finally asks.

"I don't know. I didn't realize the XO even had a sister."

"I see." Matthew ponders things for a moment.

"How long have you known Ayame Jin?"

[srwuga_mods]

"She has been the ship's XO for as long as I can remember! But my memory banks have very little data from before the Second Impact."

[gurrenbrigbonded]

"Then what is your earliest memory?" Matthew asks, suddenly curious..

[srwuga_mods]

"Performing system checkup in preparation for a journey - with Ayame and the Captain!"

"The memory is dated at being 12 years old."

[gurrenbrigbonded]

"This was after the 2nd Impact, quiaff?" Matthew asks, unsure of the time date.

Aye, Dan...what is the purpose of this White Chalice...or rather, what was it's original purpose, in the future it came from? Why does Kairos Aspida want it so badly?

"Its original purpose was to serve as the flagship for Kairos Aspida. They have a new flagship, so why do they want this back?"

"I can't give you a definite answer. Sorry, my data banks are limited."

...Out of the way Dan. Unless you can speak for Ayame... Anna... whatever, I need to speak with her.

"I'm sorry Amuro."

Dan has no physical presence and is just a hologram, so nothing is really stopping you other than courtesy.

"The XO wants to be left alone and directed people to talk to me instead."

[Amuro sighs, and pinches the bridge of his nose.]

Probably as awkward for her as it is for us...

Dan, can you answer any questions regarding Ayame before she came back to the past?

"I don't have any data from that time period, except knowledge on how to run White Chalice. Sorry, it seems I can't help you."

Right then.

[Amuro signals a small apology as he passes right through down, and attempts to hunt the XO down.]

[srwuga_mods]

"Please don't follow her."

You find the first door in front of you remotely locked, Amuro. Apparently Dan can do that.

Dan, you're not helping anyone if you keep us from talking to her.

[srwuga_mods]

"Ayame cannot answer any questions right now. You will have to ask her later."

Stubborn git, that AI. Or maybe limitations to Dan's programming are showing?

...Dan, do you have orders to stop me from seeing anyone by the name of Anna?

[srwuga_mods]

"No, just the XO. Ayame Jin, also known as Anna Alkaev."

"I didn't know that until recently by the way."

[whitedevilbot]

Hmm...

[Amuro mulls on it. So its not preprogrammed... unless maybe the XO ordered it within the last few days...]

Dan, let me speak to Anna. Please.

"I can't let you do that, Amuro. I'm sorry."

[whitedevilbot]

Grrr...

Well, if you won't let me speak to her in person, can you at least relay a message for me?

"I can do that! What do you want me to tell her?"

[whitedevilbot]

Tell her that...

We know her name, and where she came from. We are past the point of her keeping anymore secrets. She can no longer hide from her enemies, so anything else, she shouldn't need to hide from us.

We've accepted people from beyond the depths of space. We can accept those beyond time too.

[With that, Amuro walks off.]

"Obviously, this is a difficult situation." Very vague, but Bernie had the siblings in mind.

"It looks like there is only one way out of this. Therefore, Dan..."

"Would sister destroy another sister?"

"Familicide is documented in history, so humans are capable of such an action. But for the XO - her struggles with this question is why she is like she is now."

"At least this is what I think considering current data."

[zaku_for_xmas]

"I see..." He looks at Ayame again.

"...what...what should we do with Kairos?"

[srwuga_mods]

"It is not for me to decide. But the Captain and XO both believe we should oppose them, and I agree with their decision."

[zaku_for_xmas]

"Well I mean is...
"They can't go back. Should..should we destroy them? Or fight them til they surrender?"

[srwuga_mods]

"I don't know."

"I would prefer if we fought them only until they are no longer a threat. But as I told you Bernie, it is not for me to decide."

Bernie was silent. So he wondered. Unless there's negotiations, this was a war. No different than Zeon fighting against monopoly and for supremacy.

"I don't see why we can't just get along, unless they find us weak and ineffective. Therefore, they are wrong. They aren't doing or thinking the right thing."

Then his tone changed. His mood lowered.

"Or maybe....we should give up? Maybe the Chalice is an item of war. It was from the future after all. It belonged to Kairos."

"This ship belonged to Kairos Aspida, but you used it to do much good in the world."

"But Kairos are fixed in 'doing good' too. I wonder if it's our fate to become them in the future. We have fought a lot to stop hostilities."

"I actually...I actually thought of wanting to destroy them because of what they did to the Captain. I haven't had the chance to attempt to pull him back from his ambition. I probably never could have, and it seems the same way with Kairos, who seem to be very important in the future."

"I do not know if you could have stopped Char Aznable. But what he did was his decision so I don't think any one person could have changed his mind."

Dan seems to hesitate. It's as if he thought there is a need to say something else.

"If the Captain decided to cooperate with Kairos Aspida rather than fight them, I will follow his decision. Maybe that way we can do more good together?"

[zaku_for_xmas]

"Our task is to protect Earth and Space. That's what I dedicated myself to do. I am sure that's the will of both Federation and Zeon. Even if it's fighting inevitable. We got to take Kairos out of that dictatorial way of sense."

Not particularly.

[And Samus walks straight through the hologram without even blinking. You're probably going to need something more than polite interjections to stop this one, Dan]

"Please wait."

The doors in front of you close rapidly, Samus. They are locked.

"Don't follow her."

You know I can get through. Do not make me have to.

Unless you believe she can accomplish more than self-destruction while alone, at the current moment.

"You can't help her at the moment. The XO needs time alone."

"I also suggest you don't use threats of force, Samus. It's not nice."

Neither is letting her wallow. Will you speak to her? Can you as she will need?

"My knowledge of psychology is limited."

Did Dan just sound a little sheepish?
