One side of the tavern has almost totally collapsed. Not counting the roof that's basically gone too. And from there, you can see the source of the previous roar.

It's a giant dragon, its blue scales gleam under the moonlit night. And on top of it, stands a person clad in full plate armor.

"This town has been infested by undeads. By the right granted to me by King Smith, I, Spencerius the Paladin, the Rider of the Land Dragon, will cleanse this town.... with FIRE!"

And the dragon starts to spew fires at the buildings around it!
