Ten Years looking For the Luck

1] Adette has a big cardboard box in her arms closed up tight, and a big smirk on her face. She looks down at the list of names shes scribbled on the top of the box I hope I can find everyone... It had taken all year to round everything up in preparation for this evening, it was the last night of the year after all and she could not let it go by without observation.

2]It's was 15 minutes to midnight, and Adette was filling up your glass without invitation. "You're got to try this. Vodka from home town." A pretty, drunk, grin, as she rests her chin on her hand. "Any good resolutions?"

He's going to keep quiet after that. No comment there. If Adette wanted to dig herself in deep with Haman, that was her business, not his. Instead, at her next question, he nods. "I understand your concern. But luckily, what is truly valuable to me, and my duties, go hand in hand."

"Well aren't you lucky." Adette was feeling feisty, it was hard not to when Char was around. "Must be handy dating your boss. I know allll about it after all, I had Yasuba wrapped around my little finger for years. Must easier to get what you want when you can just sleep with em, huh?" She really didn't mean anything by it, alcohol made her lips loose, and the words flow easily, with out censorship.

A few moments of silence over the radio. Finally, Char spoke, and his tone was still calm, with just a small hint of annoyance. "Technically, she isn't my 'boss.' Princess Mineva Lao Zabi is." A small pause as he took another sip of the vodka.

"But as Haman is the Regent, she's also my boss, just not on a permanent basis. And frankly, what I want is the same thing that she wants. I don't need to... sleep with her to work towards that."

"Then she is your boss. Semantics don't change the facts." She waggled a finger at him playfully. "Well better her than your previous interests. I wish you all the luck in the world." Sarcasm dripped from her words as she laughed. "You two deserve each other." Whatever that meant. "How long have you been together now?"

"Which previous interests?" Because she had better not be referring to Lalah. Haman already knew she wasn't Char's first, so this wouldn't come as a surprise to her. But at least two of those 'previous interests' were dead, much to Char's depression.

"Our one-year anniversary of us dating will be next month. No, I haven't forgotten."

"The little red headed Eva pilot, or did you think I would forget?"" It had pounded her pride deeply, but that fight had led her to a man a thousand times better than Char and Adette felt no remorse for it.
"Wow, we'll that's a hell of a thing, got any big plans?"

... Yeah, no comment to that. His eyes narrowed into slits behind the sunglasses, and he didn't answer. Thankfully, she asked another question shortly after, to which he shook his head. "I'm not going to ruin the surprise."
