Directly after the pirate attack, Hayato can be found sitting on a dead one, smoking a cigarette. He's splattered in pirate blood, especially on his hands. The wounds on the pirate he's sitting on look almost like it was killed by some sort of wild animal.

"Been way too long since I got to really cut loose. The worst thing about being a commander was never being able to get my hands dirty."

"Oh, I do." He said, wiping a bit of their noxious blood off his face. Pirates, he thought, were hardly worthy opponents for a true Warrior, but that hallway clearing had certainly put him through his paces. "The elementals had been itching for a workout like that one. Perhaps we should take some trophies before the noncoms come to take these things away?"

"Hmph. I suppose not, from pirates. They do not even look edible. What a waste." He desultorily kicks one, watching it flop in arthropod limpness. "This is why we let our commanders lead from the front line."
