02 Aliens On Earth

1) [Dita's looking through the observation windows at the landscape around them. It was beautiful and terrible at the same time, with the damaged landscape from numerous battles, to the alien architecture not associated with Mejire.]

It's so haunting...


2) [She's in the hangar of the Chalice, helping the mechanics that stayed behind to do some adjustments to any of the mecha that they're allowed to work on. Who knew Dita was a competent mechanic?]


3) [Lunch time! She's cooking up a Mejire dish for everyone, some kind of variant of roast turkey no less. Whatever it is, it smells DELICIOUS. Come have some?]

It's not so loud most of the time. That's just my Evil Dictator impression. But yeah, I'm sure you can see now why unprepared foreigners can be in for quite a shock.

Well, as I said, you don't need to go if you don't want to. I'd feel bad if someone got hurt just because of my selfish request.

Not by Earth standards. The problem is, if my experience with White Chalice is any indication, travelling for a longer distance without getting attacked by one group or another is pretty much impossible these days. Or maybe they're just attracted to the ship.

What about you, Dita? Does your family know you're exploring an alien planet?

[She shook her head.] My Ohma and Fama died during a major accident on Mejire, and I lived alone in the apartment building until I was shunted to an orphanage when it too was shut down. Captain Magno is more of my family than anything else now, as with the rest of the Nirvana crew.

Well, that's depressing... Sorry to hear that. I guess my situation, where both of my parents are alive and well, is pretty rare in this day and age, huh?

Mmm, Meia too lost her parents. A lot of our girls come from lives where we were dissatisfied or had nowhere to turn after a major calamity. But that's what makes all of us stronger as family.

Now I wonder if there are any other such tight-knit groups here on the ship... Not the whole crew, obviously. Too big.

Could be. Sometimes you find close knit people no matter where one goes.

I don't think if I ever experienced that. I'm more of a lone wolf myself. It's even in my name.

Yeah. Werter Wolf. A pretty ordinary last name in Germany, but fearsome and independent to everyone else's ears!
