[After Kouji's first day out in the colony!]

You know, when I was a kid, I always saw movies about America, and thought it was some kind of totally crazy place full of cowboys and giant food and guns. Then I got older, and realized that real life isn't like TV, and it had to just be an exaggeration.

BUT IT REALLY IS LIKE THAT! I thought that childhood dreams and TV had been lying to me all this time, but it's all completely true! What the heck?!

I think that was only for the welcoming party, it was bound to be a bit more ridiculous that it usually is.

All part of the celebration for Roger, I'm sure President Michael wanted everything to be as patriotic as possible.

Also it's not like you saw an entire family running around waving and firing guns.

[He hopes.]

Your grandfather was very much a mad scientist. His archnemesis somehow got through all of his life and got a doctorate with the last name Hell.

So yes. Sometimes real life is just like it is on TV. But more often than not, it isn't. No, it's even stranger.

[identity profile] azure-savior.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
I never said it was a bad thing. Mad scientists always seem to be able to make amazing breakthroughs on a shoestring budget nine times out of ten.

But do admit it. The guy had a whole speech about a machine that could be a god or a devil. You don't get much more mad scientist-y than that.

... Okay, Dr. Hell's more mad scientist-y. I'll give you that much.

It is in fact not just America!

It is Neo-America! Like America, but... Neo.

This explains the discrepancies, I am sure.

Considering that I lived in America proper for a long time, and witnessed mostly icy wastelands rather than star-spangled banners and celeberations, I believe there is only one explanation!

All the American traits were moved to outer space, where they intensified due to Newtype evolution!

[That's not exactly what Char meant when he was talking about Newtypes...]

We are witnessing the evolution of mankind!

Spoiler alert: everything you see on the TV is actually real. Broadcasting untrue events was banned 6 years ago.
[He's not even trying to make this sound credible.]

You got me. That was a terrible lie.

Still, ever heard the phrase "truth is stranger than fiction"? It's a terrible, old cliche, but the more time I spend around here, the more I believe it's true after all.

Neo America is a strange place.

I'll be sad to see it go.

[Is that...yes! For once Hayato is not carefully containing any sinister ulterior motives!]

Isn't it so much fun?

[identity profile] but-my-caaake.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Did you try the donut burgers?

[identity profile] cleaves-evil.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
I lived in America for years. Neo America is... somewhat exaggerated.

[identity profile] cleaves-evil.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Or just as likely, these are people who have a secondhand idea of the country similar to yours.

[identity profile] of-10-faces.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Certainly a lot more lively than I expected it to be. How interesting. I got a lot of good photos.

[good meaning they don't all completely suck. Just mostly all suck.]

[identity profile] of-10-faces.livejournal.com 2011-08-30 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The colony, the gunshow, things like that. It's not every day I get to see someplace that lively.
