[An afternoon in a snowy northern city. Having finished his classes for the day, a college student is heading back home. And since "home" is pretty far away, he's taking a shortcut through an old garbage heap. And internal monologuing on the way!]

I'm starting to miss Berlin already. This place is in the middle of nowhere and going anywhere takes ages. Oh well, what's the point of complaining and acting like a stereotypical fish out of the water? It's just till the end of the semester, and then back to Germany. And it's not like I need excitement in my life as long as I have my stuff...

[The sight of an unusually-looking toy robot, sticking out of a pile of trash, interrupts him.]

This model... Why did someone throw it away? It doesn't look old or broken, and the amount of detail is incredible! And is it made from real metal? I just wonder what robot is this supposed to be, I've never seen anything like this before...
It must feel sad to be forlorn like that, huh? Well, buddy, you're coming with me! You're going to be a fine addition to my collection.

[And he pulls the toy from the garbage and goes on his merry way with it. There's no way this is going to end strangely!]
