Wahrheit Maintenance - Locked to Lowe Gear and Orlando Desmarais

[Alexei would personally call both Lowe and Orlando out of the blue.]

You two...I want to see you down in Wahrheit's hangar in 15 minutes. Whether both of you come or neither of you come, it doesn't matter to me. And Lowe? Bring that book...

[The message cuts off then.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-13 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
This guy... I hope he doesn't consider me his personal errand boy or anything...

[Lowe will be there. And yes, he found the AC maintenance manual. He brought 8 too, just in case.]

What's up?

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-13 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Shrugs]

I'm not his nanny, so no idea.

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Most systems are similar to what mobile suits have, so you're in luck! The major differences are...

[String of technical expressions that say nothing to a non-mechanic. Also, Lowe hands over the manual, although it's more like a loose set of paper sheets tied together than an actual book.]

And that's why hydraulics won't be too hard to take care of. I'll handle maintenance and basic repairs, no problem.

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
You're such a charmer, you know that.

[Lowe doesn't really like Alexei's attitude, but eh. A job's a job. And he's itching to see the generator. So he'll put on the suit while leaving 8 behind.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
You don't have to tell me that twice! Let's see, what have we here...

[Lowe enters the Wahrheit in a rather... laidback fashion, but he immediately starts to look around and catch technical details with his eyes. It's his first time working with such a unit after all.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, interesting control scheme.

[Points at the hatch and its warning sign with his thumb.]

That explains the suit. You want me to get in, I bet.

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I'll be careful. And I'll make it quick.

[Lowe slips into the hatch. He's almost sure that Alexei does not intend to murder him or anything after all.]

C'mon Kojima Generator, show me yourself up close.

Yeah, Orlando should probably appear now

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Something wrong with the output? I should've brought 8 in here...

Ta-daaaaah!

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
[And then Orlando popped his head into the cockpit, all suited up.]

Instead you got me.

[He eyes the stream of green particles.]

Is it supposed to do that?

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't you ask the Celestial Being folks? Of course green emission is good for you...

[Despite his joking around, Lowe is tense as he looks at whatever is behind the generator. He is as careful as you can be.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, there's a small leak here. Got any tools, Orlando? Best I can do now is plug it with my glove.

Pulling sci-fi devices out of my ass here

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
That was... a joke.

Orlando, do you have a Minovsky stabilizer? I could use one. And a solid wrench.

A time honored tradition.

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well not ON me. I will be back in a few minutes.

[Fortunately, the Clockmaker is usually close to the docking bay where all this is happening, so it's a short trip. He kicks off from the Wahrheit.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Yelling after Orlando]

And absorbant foam! Any kind of absorbant!

Re: A time honored tradition.

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Thumbs up over his shoulder as he sails away. Looks like you have an awkward silence to fill while Orlando searches through racks and racks of stuff.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that'd be awesome.

8 doesn't like it when people who aren't me handle him. He'll just have to live with it because I could really use him here.

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[8 doesn't try to shock you with an electrical discharge or anything silly like that. Only words appear on the display.]
"WHAT IS THE SITUATION? IS LOWE ALRIGHT?"

[At the same time, Lowe is being uncomfortable in the reactor's heat and wondering what side effects the radiation will have.]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, all I need now is Orlando. 8, monitor the radiation level, alright?

[8]: "SO LOWE WAS NOT MURDERED AND HIS BODY INCINERATED AFTER ALL."

This is no time for jokes... especially ones about me dying.

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-14 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You guys sure are having fun with this life-threatening situation...

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Orlando gets back, carrying a minovsky stabilizer and a tube of industrial strength radiation sealant. He pointedly ignores Alexei.]

Orlando Desmarais is always prepared. Let's get to work, Lowe.

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, you really do have the right tools for the job, Orlando. This'll be a piece of cake.

[Work the techie magic! Monitor and stabilize the input, and then seal up the leak.]

How's the radiation? My suit's drenched in sweat so I can't tell.

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
The geiger counter isn't freaking out anymore, at least...

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Phew... crisis averted. This generator needs a dedicated access tunnel. Any reason why you can only access it from the cockpit?

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Of course, I can't wait to figure out what it is you have in mind. There's just one small matter to take care of first.

[He's been tapping at the computer terminal on his normal suit's arm, but he finishes up now and pulls out a computer tablet of some kind and a stylus.

It's an invoice for the services rendered. Time spent on a rush job and the cost for replacing the minovsky stabilizer are totaled up to a reasonable fee.]

If you could sign here?

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Good job, man!

[Highfive with Orlando?]

I don't mind some extra funds. Or to be more precise, parts. Think the League can get these?

[And, 8's output window already displays a collection of mobile suit parts and equipment. It's nothing too rare or expensive, but on the other hand - most of these don't look like normal stuff used in repair either. What is Lowe trying to do here?]

[identity profile] space-mcgyver.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
As tempting as it'd be to have a reactor right behind my pilot seat... yeah, I'll pass on that one.

[identity profile] notimemachine.livejournal.com 2011-08-15 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I look forwards to your future patronage.

Also you should probably keep a closer eye on that reactor. If that leak had gotten too big you could have irradiated the entire docking bay.

[In the hangar...]

Your personnel management skills are a thing of legend. What can I be doing for you?
