Oh look, there's a Lucchini kitten on the prowl. Okay, she's bored and just looking for something to do.

Anyone willing to entertain her for a little bit?

Whoa!

[Laura rolls out of the way, coming up (a little awkwardly) in a crouch facing the spot she just vacated! Her various trainers would be proud at her for reacting without freezing up, but can her reflexes really beat Franny?]

Sorry! [Not really, but Frannie's being nice and won't turn her pounce into an all out attack.]

Wha'cha doing?

[Laura relaxes a little. Not dropping her guard entirely, because she knows Frannie, but relaxing.]

Replacing the arm servos. I picked up some more sensitive ones back in Neo France.

Oh. [She crept a little closer to the machine watching intently, but behaving and not touching it.] Looks so complicated.

Some of the fiddliest bits on a mech. The hands need to include a lot of sensors and failsafes to make sure they can hold on to things without crushing them, you see.

I'm not touching most of that, though, just upgrading a few parts. Want to help?

Sure! [She smiled as she crouched next to the machine to see what she's be able to help with.]

I need to work under the arm, but it'll go easier if you can check the readouts on top. It might move unexpectedly if I hit the wrong thing, but it shouldn't be a problem for you, am I right? I'll tell you when I make a change, and you just call out the numbers you're seeing, and adjust things up or down when I ask you.

[Laura indicates the maintenance panel in question, already open. The mech is one of the smaller models, and keeping balanced on top of the arm is probably insultingly easy for Frannie.]

Piece of cake! [She kicks off her shoes so she has better grip and doesn't damage the paint job.]

Okay, ready. [She's latched on to the arm with her legs perched up so she can see the panel in question.]

[And Laura does as she said - testing different sections of the arm assembly in turn, moving it forward and back and up and down at a gentle enough pace not to shake Frannie off, getting the hand to open and close and rotate and waggle its fingers in sequence.

Until she absentmindedly tells Lucchini to adjust a setting up rather than down, and the arm spasms, turning upside-down and flinging the Witch aside!]

Waiiiiiiii [Lucchini holds on as long as she can, though she's thrown off and yelps grabbing onto one of the steel frames hanging on a moment.]

OOH! that was fun! [She bounces down to the ground whtn the arm stops moving.]

-oh. You're all right? I'm sorry! I told you the wrong thing, that was my fault. Are you sure you're okay?

I'm okay, a little sore from catching myself but it's okay.

I'm so sorry! Er... for what it's worth, we're done now...

It's fine. [She grinned.] Really? those didn't take long at all.

This was just testing. Actually putting in the new parts took a lot longer.
