2. [Dita's slipped away from the festivities for a little bit to the garden below the deck of the bridge, and she's looking at the night sky.]

So full of stars. They say there's a heart in each one of them. What star is Mejire and Taraak's? Is it still glowing brilliantly?

[It's such a sad, if happy feeling for Dita, she runs a hand across the railing.]

I guess you're right. There's a lot that we want to protect, and this world is one of them.

Keep in mind. Without any training, you became atan. A life-nexus. That could only happen because the connection between you and the nodes had been strengthened in many other ways beforehand.

An life-nexus? Someone who could connect... I guess when you put it like that, it really does feel like it?

That warm feeling I get when everyone's connected to me, united in spirit and our bodies being the mecha... I guess in a way it really is similar.

Yes. Such mergers are not unheard of.

But few can be atan. All that lives is connected, but atan implies not merely sharing a connection. It is being capable of not merely touching other threads, but bring them closer to oneself and to each other both, and establish a spiritual feedback in the net.

It is a rare talent you have.

Ah. [Dita blushed at that.] Thank you. I hope I live up to your expectations. There's a lot I'm learning about right now, and I sincerely hope I'll be able to manage this responsibility.
