Down in the dumps

Things just couldn't see to go right for Kensuke lately. Shinji and Asuka had left, or disappeared, or been relocated, he wasn't sure. And the fact that he hadn't seen battle in a while only made it worse. He had so easily fallen into his old habits of being, and staying alone. He didn't really know how to seek out others, and the longer he didn't talk to others, the harder it became to try.
He found himself sitting on the bridge before Eva Unit 04, staring at it as if he expected it to speak to him or something.
Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, either way this kid needs some cheering up.

" If Shinji and Asuka couldn't cut it, what make me so much better?" He sighed aloud, and longed to run and hide in the woods, with this tent, and his toy guns, and his imaginary army. They never turned their backs on him...

"Wow!" Kensuke is a bit taken aback. "You designed this?" He asked as he pushed his glasses up his nose. "This is really impressive Kamille."

Scratching the back of his neck, Kamille chuckled sheepishly. "Ah, it's not that big a deal, is it?"

"Sure it is. I couldn't do this stuff! This is pretty intense for someone your age, you should be really proud of yourself!" He looked over the schematics again, thinking deeply.
"Hows the overall weight? What kind of heat syncs are you planning on using? Why do all the Gundam have this V thing on the forehead, wouldn't it be better to make it, I dunno, blend in with the other troops so people, ya know, don't know it's a gundam and underestimate you?"

"The Weight should be distributed so as to give the Waverider form little to no issues. The V-fin are actually radio antenna, somewhat necessary to functionality, but not so much that they're the most prominent feature." Any soldier would want to be able to claim that they shot down a Gundam, so making them stand out helps with that. Then there's also the fear factor that made the original so prominent in the One Year War as to give it the moniker White Devil amongst the Zeon Troops. In a way, it causes other people to overestimate their own abilities, which is what gets most of them killed in the first place."
