Down in the dumps
Things just couldn't see to go right for Kensuke lately. Shinji and Asuka had left, or disappeared, or been relocated, he wasn't sure. And the fact that he hadn't seen battle in a while only made it worse. He had so easily fallen into his old habits of being, and staying alone. He didn't really know how to seek out others, and the longer he didn't talk to others, the harder it became to try.
He found himself sitting on the bridge before Eva Unit 04, staring at it as if he expected it to speak to him or something.
Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, either way this kid needs some cheering up.
" If Shinji and Asuka couldn't cut it, what make me so much better?" He sighed aloud, and longed to run and hide in the woods, with this tent, and his toy guns, and his imaginary army. They never turned their backs on him...

"I mean I can pilot, but there haven't been any Angel attacks so, it's not like the EVA is really essential in any other fights. And I'm sure the cost to power something so big would be a huge tax on our limited resources. It's probably better I don't pilot it unless absolutely necessary." It made good sense after all, though whither it was true or not could not be said.

Have you talked to her about it? Even if the Eva is expensive to run, I can't imagine she'd like the idea of you sitting on the sidelines without a chance even to keep in training. Maybe she can find a workaround.
...But... that doesn't seem like it has to do with what you were saying about the other pilots...

" I am, thought I haven't seen Miss Misato in ages. I think she's forgotten about me now that the star Eva pilots are gone." He sighed deeply, looking something like a beat puppy. "Now it's just me, useless, and forgotten. Me and my stupid chrome Eva, all aspirations, and no action."

Talk to Dan, maybe, see if anyone needs help. I know we can always use more people in the hangar, and in the kitchens. And if you think you don't know enough to pitch in... you're pretty much certain to be no worse than I was.
