Van is in the hangar rubbing his left arm, which has a perfectly circular bruise reaching around it, while staring at Escaflowne, which is missing it's left arm. He looks thoughtful and kind of annoyed.

[Not filtered to Laura, but only because he doesn't know how, or even really who she is.]

Laura, I wanted to thank you for doing...whatever it was you did to Escaflowne's arm. It was obviously taxing on you, but the mechanics are saying it should be a very easy repair job.

So, you have my thanks.

Is your arm okay, King Fanelia? It looks like someone cut it off and then reattached very roughly...

It's just a bruise. I'm not sure what caused it though.

Hmm... It's a bit similar to the damage suffered by Escaflowne, too! How mysterious.

I'm sure it's a coincidence. Even with the padding, just using a guymelef is enough to give you some bruises.

What a rough machine... Would you like some extra pillows for piloting it? I'm sure that'll make it much more comfortable...

There isn't really room in their. Bruises aren't a big deal, really.

Hey, it's like all the parts are already there. In fact... they are! It looks less cut off and more disattached on a factory line - half an hour of work tops and it should be in working condition.

Okay, now I'm REALLY curious what happened.

So am I, actually. I took damage the normal way, but this girl did...she did SOMETHING to it, and then it was like this.

I think her name was Laura. I think I've seen her once or twice on the Chalice.

Now that you mention it, I knew she's a Shifter but not what she can do. So she can fix stuff too? Well, ain't that useful!

A shifter? Is that some kind of sorcerer of this world?

Now that you mention it I think there's another woman who calls herself a shifter around here, isn't there?

They can... how to explain it... do you know Kamen Riders? It's something like that - they summon suits of armor that makes them really fast and strong, and apparently gives 'em even more special abilities too.

There's one other Shifter but she's the loner type. We don't speak a lot, but it's okay.

I'm just glad it worked. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, I've never tried it on something that size before.

There are very few people who who have the skill to repair an Yspano Guymelef, so you have done me a great service.

And frankly, with how guymelef's handle I would be surprised if I didn't have a few bruises after coming out. Don't worry about it.

I dunno, there's all kinds of thing banging around in a guymelef. I usually end up with a few weird bruises after a fight or practice session.

... That's right. Your machine doesn't exactly have proper insulation, does it?

You know, you might want to see about getting something to help with that. If we head off to space any time soon you'd be pretty thoroughly screwed because of that.

Don't you have the weird armor that helps with that? Normal Suits or something?

I've never heard of a "force feedback system". It's just generally normal to get a bit bruised when using a guymelef.

OH well that's just what we call it in Hildebrand. Uhhh, I think the technical term was uhh... Oh that's right! I got it!

We called the Marrionette System 'cause you're all tied up like a puppet with strings!

'Force feedback' is just a fancy schmancy jargon. It basically means that when something hits the arm of your robot, your own arm gets pushed too.
