[Oh, Chrono is not in a good mood. His allies were shot down, he's gotten pretty beaten up himself, and - worst of all! - he missed the shot at Gato. He's really not happy with himself. A distant corner of his mind laughs at him for having told off Forte from just this position a short while ago. As such, he's walking about and fuming.]

I can't believe he got away...! And with nuclear weapons, no less! I mean, Earth is already so damaged from Second Impact... what's the point in blowing it up further?

[Chrono's up on the Asura, reviewing the parts requests from Raising Heart and Bardiche and mentally checking off everything, until...]

CVK-792... what's that part? And why don't we have any? [A quick cross-reference later, and Chrono pales.] Oh no. They're not serious, are they...? [A hollow laugh.] Of course they are. It's those two, even their devices work too hard. The Belkan Cartridge System... I hope they can handle it. [A camera feed on the screen displays the devices in question, nearly shattered, floating in a repair area until the needed parts are secured.] I'd better get these requested from Cranagan, the main office is a long way out, even with dimensional travel.

[Nukes in the hands of Axis? No, they weren't with Axis. Most of those units seemed dated at best, even that Kampfer. So who were they? Some sort of splinter group?]

I don't think they have any intention of using those weapons on earth. [The detective had been musing with Chrono over the disaster that occured naught moments ago.] I'm not sure how familiar with Earth's history, but they seemed to be more interested in destroying the Federation as military power than anything else. That man, Gato, offered us a chance to leave, but not the federation suits...

I don't think that the Nukes are the end of it, though.

Of course they aren't, they'll keep going until they can destroy the Federation down to the last. Isn't that always the way it is? I don't know much about Terran wars, but...

No, it's more like the nukes aren't where it ends. Like... it's a setup for something bigger, and the nukes are a distraction

Bigger... [Chrono is working out the scale here.] What could they be planning...?

...No clue. But it makes me want a bigger stick. Or a bigger laser... although I'm not sure the Arc-en-ciel is the right answer here.

I'd certainly like a bigger stick right about now. [Next time, focus on destroying the suits instead of stealing them.] Char's still in serious condition, so it'll be a while till we can get something useful from him. In the meantime, all we can do is wait.

The same reason why we're still getting into these fights, politics always gets involved in things like this.

Ugh. Sometimes I think it would be simpler to just call it a full intervention and have the Bureau take control of the world until we can either force it to solve its problems peacefully, or force it to sign the Bureau Charter and then do it ourselves.

Then again, that's politics in its own way. Gah, I hate this!

That's true. And we'd never get the intervention anyway; there's nobody to request it, except maybe us. Plus the Bureau tends not to grant interventions to officers just because they say so.

Mm... If there are only two shots, they're only going to use one at most, and then only in an emergency. The other will be saved as a threat. A nuclear Gundam without nukes is much less of an issue.

He'll still need time to prepare the shot I'm sure, the Federation Captain said that the Gundam was made to bridge the gap between iDOLs and regular nukes so that makes me think that he shouldn't be able to fire the nuke from too far away also.

If it came down to it I think a few of the machines here could stop a nuke.

Cranagan? Where's that...?

[Tap, tap on the keyboard.] Cranagan is Mid-Childa's capital city. It's where Bureau HQ is. And I can't think of anywhere else we'd have that part for the Cartridge System, so...

[Realization.] Oh, Nanoha. Sorry, I was trying to get this part requisition filled out. Are you all right? [Chrono is working through his annoyance at failing to capture Gato, so he's perhaps tapping the keys a little harder than necessary.]

Catridge System...um, didn't you say those were difficult to use? ...Then again, I guess you'd be experienced enough to handle it.

Yeah, I'm fine. But, about what happened...

I'm starting to see a pattern between places we visit and piles of smouldering ruin...

But nukes are a first. We'd better get 'em back, and fast.

I'll say. I'm not familiar with the actual damage output of common nuclear weapons - they're banned on Mid, and inefficient anyway - but I do know they're pretty destructive.

...And we let this Gato get away with not just one, but two of them in a heavily armored Gundam. This seems like a recipe for disaster.

Inefficient is the word there. Way they work, nukes are best used as a scarecrow, or in space - that's why the Feds had them here, too. Just what is that Gato bastard going to do with them?

No clue. Anything we come up with this point is speculation. With nuclear weapons on board, anyone will think twice before crossing him. Even us. Dan's going to be very cagey if Gato's going to be near our area of operations for future missions.

If there's something nuclear blasts do best, it's destroying wildlife and other surroundings. Like if Earth needs more of that...

Nuclear weapons on a mobile suit...Christ, that's exactly what the world needs now.

We really do know how to show off to you visitors from other planets, don't we?
