Reminiscence

[Once again the stray boy was out on the deck staring out at the ocean, despite coming somewhat clean he was still hiding several things. He didn't know the reason why he was continuing to do so. Ever since he had come back from his Gramps' other lab one name in particular was bothering him.]

GreAT...

[Even if he had a name he wasn't able to find out anything about them on his own and he didn't like it. Several stacks of books sat next to him though in the end they didn't help at all.]

I will make sure to announce myself earlier next time, then.

You did not answer my question yet.

Big groups rarely appear out of nowhere. So we can assume that means they are good at covering their tracks and investigating in a vacuum is not going to give much result.

[Samus thinks for a moment]

Do you expect them to attempt something again?

Not necessarily. As long as you do not do much of note, you will not appear in history records or official recounts. You might have better luck trying to get some information from the criminal underside.

And if you know they will surface again, it simplifies hings. Wait for them to do so, and make sure to get ahold of either one of the pilots or their machines.

[Samus doesn't probe further. Ichitaka is not really very good at hiding stuff, being the honest boy he is, but there are things one really shouldn't ask]

[It's more that she knows she herself doesn't like being asked private matters, so she gives the same courtesy in return]

I have a fair amount of experience with combat androids, but my knowledge is mostly about how to kill them or talking with the few of them who were bounty hunters as well. I never was much of an engineer.

[Samus nods] The most wellknown android hunter in the galaxy is named Ghor. There were a couple more.

[Samus simply looks at Ichitaka. It seems she doesn't really understand the question. "How she dealt with"? Those are simply things that exist and have o be taken into account]

Not regular. Only a few factions really use combat androids as troops, and as such they were fairly infrequent enemies.

I have never had to fight Ghor nor the other droid hunters, either. The one time we came at odds until now, he retreated without a fight when he learned I was involved.

[Missing the point so hard, Samus. And you only haven't had to fight Ghor because the Corruption plot didn't happen yet, give it time :P]

I have a reputation [And the understatement of the year award goes to...]. Enough that a lot of people are convinced I don't actually exist.

In this case, however, we had met before, and once we found out we were in opposite sides, it was obvious one of us was had to be on the wrong one. It turned out to be him, so he broke contract. Ghor is a good man.

It would have likely ended up differently if Ghor was one of the hunters in it for the money. I have had to kill many of those. But he is in the business mostly because there is no other field where a combat android can exercise his abilities.

He is humanoid, yes. He was built by humans, so they used their own base shape for him.

[Of course, Samus being raised by birds and used to dealing with many of them, the idea of "humanlike" being used for sentience or feelings does not even cross her mind]

[It's less the ideology and more that being raised by another race and used to deal with dozens of different species, the idea of saying that sentient things are "human-like" would strike her as incredibly silly and rather self-centered of humans, really]

So, what is your worry with combat androids, then? [Shot point blank]
