The Ruin is a bit different than that. It is made up of trillions of nanomachines that feed on carbon, which is found in both organic tissue and almost every metallic alloy used in creating robots. Water inhibits its ability to reproduce and can short out its circuits, but being in a humid room isn't exactly safe for operating on a robot like Lyuze's internal circuits, either.
