"Dawn" combat log
While one team attacks Nicolai's castle and another infiltrates the base, most of White Chalice has to take care of Nicolai's army of Id Beasts! From mooks, there are the giant Deep Crows, and various Invasion Type creatures, using Mobile Suits and Gucun mecha but with extra monstrous limbs and features added. From tougher, quickly regenerating monsters, there are acid-spewing Fleshsteins made from many bodies stitched together, largely immobile Spiny Id Beasts covered in thousands of spikes which they shoot everywhere, and Moon Worms, huge sandworm-type creatures which have a slowing aura of cold around them. And there might be even more of other, less common monsters!
All but the mookiest Id Beasts are very ferocious, very tough, and quickly regenerating - but only as long as they're in the dark. After some time, Roads breaks the orb of light, which illuminates the battlefield, turning the monsters close to the castle into dust and removing the regeneration and reason of the rest, turning them into even more of unthinking beasts. And soon after that, the sun rises over the battlefield, destroying all the Id Beasts. All it takes is to fight and survive until that point...
But White Chalice has one additional advantage here! A few of the units might be equipped with the Sunlit Hero system. It's only one-shot though, so make it count!

There sure are a lot of them.
Stop gawking and start getting rid of some of them!
Right right Cthugha, Ithaqua. Lets see how you like these!
[A barrage of red and blue energy is fired by the Deus Machina, thinning out the initial wave of Id Beasts. There was still a lot to go though.]

And seeing him, it's easy to see what she meant. There's a huge army of monsters there. But, see, paper beats rock. And angel with holy light powered weaponry supported by a literal goddess of light and purity?
Beats vampire monsters. To the ground.]
Ha! Take that, you horrible monsters!
Watch out, Pit, incoming to the right.
Roger that!
[Cherubot and Pit are basically holding a section of the army by themselves thanks to their downright unfair advantage against this particular type of enemy. Id Beasts that get hit by his main weapon, the Arrows of Light, fall to the ground screaming in burning pain or outright begin burning with white flame and painfully turning to ashes. And Pit is very clearly having a blast.]
You had to know this was coming
Thump.
Thump.
A mech stomping is a tremendous crash and a vibration felt through the whole body. The Moon Worms can't help but be attracted. Their gaping, icy mouths open wider and almost close on a Grendel that jumps away. The elementals clinging to it feather their jump jets as they hit the creature's back. It screams and thrashes but its aura of cold can't help it against the battle armor. All they have to do is disable their heat sinks.
Vibrohooks are dug into the creature's back and they struggle to wrestle it into submission.

JUSTICE PUNCH!
[And Yuu punches a Fleshstein's face off. As it regenerates, Yuu punches it off again!]
As long as you keep regenerating, I'll just keep on destroying you!
1/2
[You're not the only light-based character here, Pit. Paragon is burning with bright light itself, and Raynor's golden sword just annihilated one of the creatures in one swing!]
2/2

Back together again, huh?

[Fleshensteins might have stupidly good HP regen, but they still have their limits. The kind of limits easily surpassed what with the Geant's Leanbox-huge Cypher Blade cleaving through the whole thing. Buuuuut there's still the problem of a crapton of Deep Crows, and Josh can't coordinate enough Blade Bits to keep the monsters from tearing into the giant machine.]
G-geh... okay, I don't have this part though!
Re: You had to know this was coming
Particle beams, rocket shells, and searing chemical flames wash over the incoming Invasion types, as Matthew holds down all the triggers.
"The Invaders, the Infected, and now these creatures...such abominations as you cannot be allowed to exist in this world!!!"
...then he notices the Goliath Scorpion elementals leaping into action. And blinks. "Are they–?"
no subject
[To help back up Matthew's attacks, the REVIVAL chucks a slew of flash grenades in the direction of Matthew's assault, letting the bursts of light weaken the Id Beasts. And while they were doing that, Lynn warped in an Ascalon to open fire on that worm itself before speaking out to the Scorpions.]
I can understand you want to show off, but you're dealing with magic here! And if the answer to the freezing aura was that simple we'd all do it!
[The Ascalon round shoots out, piercing into the worm's body but stopping somewhere inside of it. The collapsible rounds couldn't function as advertised in the face of the cold, and the Elementals' jumpjets and more sensitive regions were starting to frost over too. The freezing aura was quickly outpacing even the heat buildup from the armors.]
You've already torn up its back, just attack it from long range!
no subject
[That earns him a wrench to the face.]
More like you begged for forgiveness for several days in a row. If we weren't attacked every other week by something I still wouldn't be talking to you.
[The Deus Machina charges up next to Prometheus, kicking another Id Beast with it's giant shin guards.]
no subject
Something tells me that size isn't everything in this fight.
...
You doing alright?
Re: 2/2
Works for me!
Nothing wrong with having the upper hand every now and then, after all.

Sylhet Spear!
[A number of very vine-like giant spears shoot out from green magical circles formed in the air - tearing into the worm as well, but more to help hold it in place than to damage it.
In the meantime, those who choose to will receive a convenient strengthening and speed-boosting effect via a wide-area buff spell, which is also more effective than Neptune's!]
These creatures are indeed resilient. I will leave the rest to you -- finish it off!
no subject
Literally or figuratively?
[Cora just swings her suit's cannon and fires into a fleshenstein that was shambling towards them - the team was sticking together and doing their best to keep the undead beasts as far away as possible rather than suicidally leaping into the fray.]
Doesn't matter! JUST SHOOT! Burn the damn thing like a viking funeral!
I thought you'd never ask.
[With that Oxide lets loose several incendiaries at the worm. It's unknown if the chemical flames would work where magic is concerned... or if thermal expansion would really mess the creature up - but it was worth a shot.]
no subject
Heat blooms on the inside of the creature as the incendiary charges are set off. There's a great number of tinkling, cracking noises which are exactly like a suddenly heated ice cube. It's suddenly a little melty, helping some of the battle armor troopers, who had frozen onto their spots, to escape. Those with jump jet ports clear jet away. Those who don't go awkwardly sliding down, hitting the ground with wince inducing impacts but managing to stagger and scramble away and to cover. Some sprained or dislocated ankles might be had, but the medical systems have already pumped them full of painkillers and they are whooping as they scramble back behind the Dullahan squad, ready to watch their backs while they finish the monster off.
The Grendel, which has landed nearby, begins to rythmically stomp again, hoping to keep the worm from running over the Poor Bloody Infantry if it gets out of that...whatever those planty-looking things are.
no subject
[No more needed to be said as the Demolitions expert practically bathed the worm in chemical flame - filling the air with a distinctly horrific stench that most would be glad they are in sealed suits. The worm is probably experiencing a great deal of pain as that chemical cocktail won't cool down easily - not even from magic. The rest of the Dullahan Unit let loose barrage after barrage of solid shot - significantly messier than lasers, but effective in their own way.]
Right... We're going to need to move. Scythe, point me out another-
[There's a rather loud scream over the comms... and Cora practically swings to see the team's sniper get yanked out of the Dropship she was using as an aerial sniping platform by a Deep Crow!]
SCYTHE! Goddamnit!
[She's already rapidly climbing up the Grendel and kicking off of the mech - launching a grapple at the Crow and snagging it by the leg! The rest of the team's holding their ground on Cora's orders as she tries to get her sniper back... but she's reaaally going to need some help here as the nightmarish avian flies across the battlefield with both women.]
no subject
[Well here comes some makeshift artillery - solar based spells are pretty handy in situations like these. That's why Richard throws them one after another at the Deep Crow, whilst Ideigi charges beneath it.
Richard's plan? Use an oversized cape as a makeshift safety net.]
no subject
L...Let me go! LET ME GO! LETMEGOLETME-
[Her panicked mantra was cut off... thankfully it wasn't because the Crow killed her - though it did attempt to bite her head off. The Crow as it moved its head soon found its beak full of PUNCH, doing a mid air spin and letting go of Scythe - whose suit was somewhat damaged from being in the creature's grasp... thankfully her landing was safe as she hit the cape with a thump. Cora on the other hand.]
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
[Had swung up on the Crow's back and was now surfing upon it as it tore a trench into the ground - causing her to roll off and stumble along the ground dizzily.]
...Ow...
no subject
Major, you alright?!
[Shifting Scythe from Ideigi's cape to a free hand, Richard rushes his machine to the commando's side, leaning in to get a look...]
no subject
[She's on her feet again and her glare could be felt through her helmet as she shook her fist up at the massive knight. Sure she saved her teammate and Cora was DEFINITELY thankful for that... but a little WARNING would have been nice before she was catapulted off the crow and into the ground.]
no subject
[The Geant moves to get in a better position for its Neo Impulse Cannons to fire into the next incoming wave to thin it out as much as possible.]
Might have to just go with the Aile if things get dicey like that some more though.

Isaac is nearby, firing into the air with his Sniper Rifle and it's extended drum...on full auto, shredding the wings of swooping Deep Crows.
"I declare, Lady Anderson, this sport makes pheasant shooting look like a game of polo! Ho Ho! Die at the hands of a Sabbatarian, undead carrion!
no subject
"TacCom, confirm one dead oversized burrock. Venom Actual requests new targets for myself and allied units."
"Aff. Stand by for data squirt."
Everyone who has even a rudimentary HUD sees it light up with the nearest targets: a great, shambling, moaning fleshstein supported by a screening force of smaller abominations, an Id beast providing the biological equivalent of fire support and a flock of deep crows, circling and cawing, looking for the next opportunity to swoop in.
"We will follow you, Dullahan Actual. Mechwarrior Myers' will happily lend us his mech to get there." He says to Cora. This 'concentrated fire' business makes his fellow Scorpions a little uneasy, but they're with him.

Holy Shield!
[A group of Deep Crows swoops down to attack! The light bursting from Raynor's shield might not actually damage them, but it certainly blinds them for a moment!]
no subject
[The X-Buster lances off a barrage of beams to go with Joshua's.]
"Heh. Sometimes though, bigger really IS better."
[And then starts to rock as a Moon Worm starts to surface beneath his ground-bound machine!]
